Dodging
After playing Soul Reaver I thought that maybe MMORPGs should implement the same sidestepping dodging techniques that is used in Soul Reaver.
I think the GW crew should add something like this because I think not only can it increase the fun of PvP, but make it more skill based than stat based.

Soul Reaver as in the Legacy of Kain? Haven't really played it before but I'm thinking that lag problems won't make this work as well as you might think.
Also, your meaning of "skill" becomes who has the best hand-eye coordination, which then creates the potential where the younger people will rule PvP (since they generally have better reflexes and much more time to practice).
And for most, if not all, MMORPGs, it all boils down to stats.

Could you perhaps explain it a bit more in detail?
I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but you can dodge arrows by strafing.

In Legacy of Kain, you can strafe to the side. When a missile like a flaming arrow or a telekinetic orb flies at you, you can quickly side step to avoid it entirely, meaning you'll take no damage at all.

Well, you could do the same in gw
Just press q or e, it does help with orbs and stuff while it probably doesn't do your super dodge effect

There's a reason why all projectiles in GW use: "if it hits".
Try using q and e, or at least try moving around a bit.
If you have nightfal, find some corsairs, and practice with their corsair nets.
And you need to use dodge a lot in pvp, or you would need to, since pvp favors direct damage and non-LoS attacks for this very reason. Anything that flies to the target can be and is dodged.

You can already dodge stuff and your suggestion would require a rework of the GW combat system. Unfeasible, not signed.

Why do we need to be able to "side step"?
I doubt it would help you avoid attacks. You have to be moving pretty fast to do that; i.e running.
And its not going to add any new functionality or fix any issue that walking backwards or turning left or right wouldnt do.
And Guild wars IS already skill based.
Have you not noticed that we stop lvling up at lvl20 and we have a limited number of skill points.
The entire game is about choosing the correct skills and using your knowledge of creatures to defeat people.
I dont see how "side stepping" would add a whole-new-dimension of skill to the game. I could be wrong, but im not seeing it.

The best way to learn the joys of dodging is playing at the... Dragon Arena *fanfarre*
You can strafe already.
