switching characters!!
ok so i've had a real bother when i play the game, i always have to reconnect in order to switch characters, so i was thinking that the game should make a switch characters in the game so that when i'm playing one person and i need to switch it won't take me as long to do so. and i'[m sorry if this has already been brought up but whatever. what do you think?

sorry im with enko on this, it takes all of 10 seconds to:
F12 - enter - password - click character - enter.
at times ive switched character duing a busy conversation in the aliance tab and missed maybe 2 -3 messages.
but say a switch character button/option were to be added would it not take just as long to switch as it would to do as Enko described
Click swictch button - choose character - load . youd prob shave off about 2-3 seconds.

Anets official reason (feel free to search for it):
If someone gains access to an account without the password, they can only do so much damage to it. If they have access to all characters without the need for the password to be input again the potential damage done to the account can be more serious.

Yes it does. especially if you have many characters and you wanna swap around stuff on them, because you simply cant store all your weapons / dyes / runes / insignias / keys / etc in that tiny Xunlai box, which is the size of your own backpack...
/signed.
Either do that or create a way to see ALL your characters' inventories (F9 screen) together in ONE window. Something like the log-in screen, where you can check all your characters, so their inventories show, and you can easily and swiftly swap around items, without having to log in and out a gazillion times before you've finally divided all your stuff for your toons and their heroes.
OR, a vastly larger Xunlai box, so you can dump everything thats not used for one character only (like keys, dye, runes...) in the box, and you don't have to use your toons as semi-mules anymore. And make the materials 1000 spaces instead of 250.

As Tyggen said, it is a security messure.
I believe that this topic is in the list of "banned" topics because it has been beaten to death so much on these boards (and if it isn't, a moderator should add it to the list).

I mean, you are lazy enough not to want to press f12 and reenter password, but you do have the energy to post this thread 3 times?
Kidding, I find it no trouble at all to log out and relog again, takes me 3 seconds tops

If you use the "-password=xxxx" switch on your game shortcut, you don't have to enter the password again after hitting F12.
Tada, character switch.
Edit: Oh, also, using this switch is more secure than typing your password as keyloggers can't log that which is not typed.

2 notes
1 the pc must be physically secure as anybody going by can right click the desktop shortcut and read your password in properties on the target line.
2 check the renember me on this pc and logging out automatically takes you to the selection screen instead of logging out at all.

I got 36 characters and I still don't have a problem logging out. At least its not like other online games where you have to wait 30 seconds to log out.

my response to teh it doesn't take long thing is , when you ahve a computer that suks like mine it can sometimes take forever. and wel ya. about the whole people getting on to my account thing, if anything goes wron i'll be in an angry rage for about 5 minutes, probably breaking somebodys something. but the only people in my gameing room is me or me and that other me that i see in the mirrior.(ooooooo eeeeee ooooo) so i don't really think that i'll have anything to worry about someone doing something to my game becuase no one really cares about that stuff were i live. the lazy bums. adn about the manageing items, that not teh problem i'm haveing, it takes me to long to switch characters so that i can use them, not so i can switch items, i really don't care about that becuase i've already got a faster system worked out for that.(and i will never tell anyone, muhahahahahahahahahahahaha.) anyways thats that, but if you ave any other ideas i'd like to here them.

um, why is this thread posted three times by the same author? Kind of hogging up the lead page of the forum, if you know what i mean?
/unsigned- F12, password, click... it's that easy. Easier than mapping from Torment to Henge fo Denravi, that's for sure.

Oooh, well, I haven't heard of anyone playing GW in Internet Caffes.
And also haven't heard about people playing GW on the street.
So ANET must have meant maybe Your Dad? Or Mum?
In my mind, if someone is already logged, there should be no problem.
As Your parents wouldn't even know what to do by even deleting a character.

As someone mentioned, this is a beating of a dead horse. This has been discussed a lot of times. However, Anet has a reason for it, which someone was so kind to explain in this thread..
