who wants to be a bounty hunter?
I was thinking about it and I realised why some people are always having to beg ppl for gold for armor or even id kits. It's because there is no way to get gold easily. We can get about 200 gold for going in a normal group running around killing things for half an hour. Or we can try farming, which takes money to start off, in order to gain gold quicker.
Here is my suggestion. As there is no easy way to gain gold, I thought it might be fun to put bounties in the game. You can go into a town, look up with an NPC what bosses are in the area and which ones have bounties on their heads for various crimes, take the bounty and go execute the boss for anywhere between 500 gold and 5k depending on the boss and location. Killing a boss out in shenzun tunnels will give you less gold than killing a boss in urgoz's warren for example.
Some people will say, isn't this another type of farming? Well, possibly. If we were to make it so that you can't just continuously repeat a bounty, then no it's not farming. Maybe one bounty per town per day. Or maybe you can only take on 5 bounties a day or something. A limit to prevent inflation, but a way to gain gold faster than farming for eleven hours. Thank god I've never done that.
Well it's either that or increase the gold we get from missions. I can tell you one thing though. A-Net has been blaming people who buy gold on e-bay and other sites like that for inflation. If gold was easier to get, you think maybe less people would buy that e-bay gold? So while more controlled gold is going out, less e-bay gold is going out too. It shouldn't dramatically change the economy one way or the other, but it will help out gamers without a doubt.

but make bounty quests non repeatable on the same character.
also make it so nothing changes if you solo or team it.

Lol. I think "mini pets" was an attempt at leveling out the economy... That didn't go so well.
As for this Bounty Hunter business, I'll sign, but only if they add a boss called "Han Solo" to the game.

I think this is a good idea.
I would like to do this, it not only gives you a chance to get gold for killing a boss, but you also have the possability of the drop from the boss, and to cap it's elite if not already caped.
They really put a strain on the money issue. I'm always broke now from the hero's, and getting the money is slower than old age death.

Interesting idea
Now if only I could name a character "Boba Fett" (because Jango isn't anywhere near as cool),

They should make the bounties hard though. So for Ascalon they should put the bounties in Dragon's Gullet (BIG BIG area where no one ever goes). For the Kryta put in it in Kessex Peak (Where Villainy of Galrath is). FOr the Jungle put it in The Falls or Dry Top. For the desert, anywhere works LOL. Then for the Southern Shiverpeaks, put it in some crazy place =D.

I like this idea. Kind of reminds me of Nightfall and getting certain points for killing enemies, but this would be a lot more interesting especially if the bounties were for bosses in the area.

I'm poor, 'nuff said.
Anyway, I would like the quest to be repeatable but like as you said, perhaps only 5 a day, they should be random too, if it's possible, like everyday a random boss in the area is chosen for the bounty, and the bounty set for a different amount depending on difficulty and distance. Preferably the bounty wont be split between the party either, claim it like a quest reward, so that soloing it is not the only way to make decent money.

Have you not heard of quests like
"The Villany of Galrath"?
Quests like that are basically what your describing, so they kinda already exist.
This idea of being sent to kill someone because theyve done something bad and being rewarded with gold already exists.
But obviously once youve completed the quest, its over.
It isnt that I hate the idea. I think it would be a cool thing. Having like a sheriffs office in cities, where you can read a poster and see a creatures head and a price.
Then your sent to kill them or bring them in alive.
It would have to be randomised though and change everyday, and the creature would need to have a big gold icon floating above their head in game.
But unless their very hard to kill, with a large mob around them, then it wouldnt justify the reward and the price.
However....
I couldnt actually see this having a big enough effect on the economy to make sense doing. It would be fun, but it wouldnt have any huge impact.
The reason being that these "bounty-hunts" would be available to everyone. So in essence everyones gold stash would increase by 500g per bounty.
If everyones wealth increases at the same rate, then it wont have a knock-on-effect on the economy, which anyone would be able to make use of.
If anything, prices will increase due to the new found wealth.
Increased demand - increased price.
But this would effect the poor in GWs and those just starting out who dont have gold. As always the poor suffer.
To lower prices, people have to buy less. But that wont happen, unless Anet removes gold from the game. And anyone will tell you the only way to remove money from the community is by increasing prices on items with set prices.
I.E: skills, armor, weapons.
The more they charge for those items, the more money is pulled from the economy and the less gold people have to spend on items. People dont buy, and prices fall.
Low demand - cheaper prices.
But again, its the poor who suffer. If you increase base prices for all armors, and weapons and skills, then it will effect those just starting out with no gold.
Doing anything to increase gold in game is bad really.
We need ways to remove gold, or to have Anet take it from us at traders.
But to be honest. Ive never had issues making gold. Its not as impossible as you and alot of people make out it is. If you just pick up everything and sell it to the merchant, you make gold in no time.

Well met, freekedoutfish. Adding in pointless, cool things would level the economy... Like the "Gift Wrapping" idea someone stated. Something that is awsome and will be used ALOT and, thus, will rid the game of ALOT of its gold... But adding in this "Bounty Hunter" stuff would only be adding to the problem. Hmmm... (I like this face)

Lies!
Jango > Boba!
Gwen > All, she follows and you cant be rid of her! (i know you can)
How about PvP bounties?
Basically if someone recieves 10+ kills in a PvP match they become "Head Hunted"... Skill time!
Priced Head!
Until you are killed you recieve a bonus 2 armour, and 2 HP recovery, all skill recharge 10% faster. This is only valid in Arena contests.
Basically there will be a notice board in ALL arenas featuring all Charcter's who are being Head Hunted. Mabye a title aswell?
1. Stalked - 10 Head Hunted Notices
2. Hunted - 50 Head Hunted Notices
3. Haunted - 100 Head Hunted Notices
4. Fugitive - 250 Head Hunted Notices
5. Death Wisher - 500 Head Hunter Notices
Point accumulation
10 Kills -> 1 Point -> Die -> Repeat Cycle 9 Times -> Rank 1 Title.
Edit:
And with the title Bounty Awards can be set right, i see some people talking about too much money, well, we can add little bits.
Rank 1 - Stalked - 10 Gold
Rank 2 - Hunted - 20 Gold
Rank 3 - Haunted - 50 Gold
Rank 4 - Fugitive - 75 Gold
Rank 5 - Death Wisher - 120 Gold
And, now my imagination is going phsyco, if you wanted, a Bounty Hunter Title!
Ranks
1. Stalker - 20 points, 10 deaths or less, bonus 5 gold to all bounty collections.
2. Hunter - 100 points, 25 deaths or less, bonus 15 gold to all bounty collections.
3. Shadower - 200 points, 40 deaths or less, bonus 30 gold to all bounty collections.
4. Arena Assassin - 500 points, 50 deaths or less, bonus 45 gold to all bounty collections.
5. Bounty Hunter - 1000 points, 55 deaths or less, bonus 90 gold to all bounty collections.
I've made Bounty Hunter insanely hard to get, yet do-able, mabye, due to its 90 gold collection.
oh yeh i forgot..

First of all ... Bounty Hunters don't "execute" people, the situation you described is an Assassin/Contract Killer
Bounty Hunters's goal is to *apprehend* people, and return them to their employer ALIVE. Joe Bloe owes you 100,000 bucks, you pay a Bounty Hunter to go get him since he's no doubt running from you.
