A New Necromancer Minion Skill
Since Anet likes to use pop culture references for many skills (examples being the Warrior shouts, the Assassin skill Death Blossom, etc.), I would like to a suggest a new skill with a similar theme.
Name: 'Petshop of Horrors', inspired by the film "Little Pet Shop of Horrors", by Rogue Pictures.
Energy Cost: 25, same as 'Animate Bone Fiend'.
Activation Time: 5, a slight increase from the normal minion casting time.
Recycle Time: 30 secs (maybe 60?).
Description: Exploit all corpses in the area to raise a like number of level (1...14) Bone Horrors.
For the MM Necro that needs an army in a hurry, the idea is like an expanded version of 'Animate Bone Minions'.

Right... overpowered... sure.
And how many other skills can lay claim to being "overpowered"? I knew this idea would be most likely be rejected. Anything that gives someone any kind of advantage has to be nerfed and made soft... Don't give a Rt/N an ability to fend off a high-level melee attacker, it would unbalance and destroy the game!
How about changing Exploding Growth so it can only be used on Ritualist-linked creatures? A minion of this type is a Necromancer-linked one and shouldn't apply to the conditions of a Ritualist skill. Technically, a minion isn't even a creature at all, it's an automaton, a loosely bound chunk of dead flesh and bones.
Or someone else can come along and just say I don't know jack about Guild Wars... whatever. I only thought it'd be a cool idea, but I did come up with it at 9AM this morning just as I was regaining consciousness. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. *shrugs*

Are you suggesting that Rt/N's having an overpowered skill would be a *good* idea? And they can fend off melee attackers just fine with stuff like SS or SV without having to raise a half a dozen minions all at once.

This has definitely been suggested before, and I'm sure it will be done at one point or another as an elite skill. The "overpowered" case above really wouldn't happen that often, as you'd need a whole bunch of bodies around you in order for the damage to be really significant. Only time it'd really be useful is if you're under siege by wave upon wave of enemies; it might be able to take out an entire wave on its own. Of course, you'd have to be able to kill all the waves that came before it first, without the benefit of minions and one party member not using his elite skill. Seems fair to me.

If this skill is an elite, it is _underpowered_ if anything. 5 second cast time would be redonculous, and you would also have to give up something beautiful, like Order of Undeath.
As a regular skill, sure. Just scale the number of horrors and corpses:
3...5 corpses exploited, 2...5 minions raised, levels 0...14. Grayed out if less than 3...5 unexploited corpses are in radar range.
It'd be fun for impressing newbies, but it would be a sub par emergency skill in any sense, especially compared to other 5+ cast times, like MS and most rez skills.
Still, I'd bring it every once in a while, just for the halibut.

Once you max your minion count, it would also recycle a large portion of your army while maxing out your energy and the energy of every other necro on your team from the soul reaping.
Plus like skuld said, if you were rit primary, everything near the bodies would go up in smoke making... more bodies.
Can you imagine hitting this while you have 10 bodies, a full army of shambling horrors, and a maxed out explosive creation/boon of creation? Throw a SS necro on your team with some 15/-1 gear and watch, say, Vizunah Square go nuklear.

I like the idea, but with it elite, 3 second cast, 15 cost, normal level minions....but it disables all your other skills for 10 seconds and has a 60 sec recharge.
