That's really a bizarre argument. For it to logically follow, helping NPCs shouldn't involve any rewards either. Yes, instead of gaining gold and experience points that makes them more powerful, people should just go hunt prize hogs and kill bugs for a warm fuzzy feeling.

The Scribe lists people who have done good deeds. 4-5 people/guilds are mentioned every week. There are 3 million guild wars accounts. How many people will have the title after one year?

0.007% of the GW population.

This means if everyone wanted the title, and everyone was nice, they would have to wait up to 14,285.71 years to get it.
