I think this would be a great feature to have. I sent the guild wars staff a letter trying to get this option passed. All gamers are different. Some just care about the gameplay, others like the graphics, and others love customization. Guild Wars has everything just about right. But i'm all about customization, and the options they gave characters for looks just arn't enough. I've found many monks that look exactly like me. And would like a few more options to add to my character or change. The Character system should be like SSX 3. In that game you can change your character's looks anytime. And while racing online I never met one person that looked like me. And I had a sense of individuality, which was nice. Lets hope they catch on to what the Guild Wars fans want. I know some of you do not see the purpose, but many other do. If you want your character to look the same, you don't have to change it. But if you want to, there should be an option to do so.

I see no reason why a person shouldnt be able to change hairstyle and colour and maybe even skin colour (tanned or not tanned) To say it's not realistic doesnt make sense in those cases since it's also unrealistic for a person's appearance to never change.
But I guess it's not a high priority right now. I do have issues with everyone looking the same though, I think adding tons more customization will keep people from changing their minds later on their appearance due to feeling like a clone.

I think the game could use more money sinks that have no resale value in game. I would also like to see more character customizations.

More customization would be awesome. It doesn't even have to be a complete customization feature, really. Just about any scrap of customization would help and as some said before, the tool is technically implemented already.
Sure it takes time, effort and money to make a change in a game like this but it's not like we are saying that we want it done tomorrow. There are more important issues that have to be taken care of and we can wait but it really should be something that they could consider for the future.
Those who don’t care don't understand how annoying it could be to go somewhere in the game and see a character that looks just like yours. It has happened to me twice and it's just annoying. No big deal really but why not do it whenever is possible since it will make the game more fun for many and it won't bring any negative repercussion to the game?

I have a hard time understanding the logic of those that are diametrically oppposed to adding features. If the added feature does not affect you in any way, shape or form what's the harm in letting those that want to utilize it do so? Do you just enjoy being a fun governor or what? < Rhetorical questions btw.
Anyway, sorry about that. I think this is a fine idea and do not object to it's inclusion. The more feature-rich the game the better imho. Whether or not I'd actually use it is unknown, but if I could convince a guildmate to change his mohawk hairstyle that would make my day.

As great of an idea as this is right now, there are more pressing matters that the dev team needs to be working with. I'd like to see this in future updates, but I'd rather get a completed Guild Wars before adding on new features for vanity reasons.

No argument here. The priorities must be in order. However, I'd hate to have a feature disregarded and left out completely instead of adding it to the list somewhere and given it's chance to be included.

Well, as others have pointed out, this idea is completely false, there have been many games mentioned by other posters that do allow a change of appearance. I'd add Earth and Beyond to that list, even though it is no longer online, and I'd like to point out that in CoH, you can change face and physique in addition to your costume. There goes that theory.

In that case, we should be able to take our character back to the character customization screen and look at the new options, and change what we see fit. But other than that, although I recognize that it does not affect me if other people do it, I just don't LIKE the idea.

Can I point out that there have been two expansions to this game, and each has added a large number of new hairstyles, colors, and faces, they're just not available to characters of other campaigns at this time. Having a way to alter a characters appearance could change this and make the new styles available to old characters.

You can change secondaries, attributes, armor insignia's, weapon inherent (lol) mods at will... why more? What next "I spent 60k on this armor, but I want that one instead"?
/notsigned
You can do that with a PvP toon.

If your saying changing a tyrian hair style to another tyrian hair style i say yes.......If you want to update your tyrian with the lastest nightfall look.....i say no that just brings the value out of who and what your character stands for.

Well, id my idea I can agree to some of the messages. There shouldn't be any other possibility to change the character whole. It would bring us "cosmetics surgery" into GW. So instead of Orion, we'd see Paris Hilton.
That woudln't make any sence.
But in my mind, hair is a quite "normal" change. And this I would sign completly!
