Default please let players change character appearance

right now i have a level 20 ascended/infused character. and i notice that his appearance isn't exactly how i want to be any more

i need a way to edit his appearance at the character appearance screen

i should not have to create a new character and spend another 100+ hours leveling and getting all my stuff back just to change the appearance of my character to what i want it to be, which is the only option at the present time

all i should have to do is to go back to the character appearance screen with my existing level 20 RP character, and change things as much as i want until my heart's content

please put this in. it's very important.

thx

i do. i'm sure lots of people do. and the devs do too, else they wouldn't have let you choose your appearance in the first place

i'm not a dev or anything, but i'm guessing it would not be a difficult technical thing to implement into the game. so they might as well do it and make me and everyone else who cares about appearance happy in regards to this issue

You chose your appearance at the start you should be expected to keep it.

You're allowed to chose it at the start to have variety in the game, everyone looks different, sure they could randomize it but that would suck.

why should i be expected to keep it? maybe after having spent some time up close and personal with my appearance - something you can't do before choosing your appearance - i realized it wasn't the best one hence i don't like it any more

it harms nobody to let me change it to how i want it. so i should be able to.

I dont even think any games out there allow for this, other than changing your custom in CoH.

I would have agree if the character could "aged" and look older/stronger/scars from battle expereince, etc etc in some way so you wont look like a newbie with good gears.

Hey, plastic surgery sounds like a great idea! They could release an expansion pack called "Guild Wars: The Holly Wood Reality Series"

It wouldn't hurt anyone to put a lot of things in, it doesn't mean that they should be put in.

It shouldn't be put in because the game is trying to be semi realistic, except all the monsters and magic of course. Why not let us fly, why not let us have guns! It's not hurting anything.

Because there is no realistic way to have your appearance changed it's just stupid.

How much plastic surgery does it take to change a hair style?

It sounds like there's a lot of those who are againest adding more "realism" to the game... That part I don't understand since I thought gamers are always asking for better graphics, more detail, just more of everything. It seems like the more people suggest adding extra things to the game, the more I see those who are wanting less in the game...anyone else seeing this picture?

Good Question! I'm not a hair stylist by any means, but I would think not too much if any. Although, you could always get a secound opinion on this by a professional.

no one would know or care that my appearance has changed except for me and maybe a few of my closest guild mates.

putting the ability to change your appearance in would have no negative effect whatsoever on anything.

if anything is stupid, it seems to me that keeping this option out of the game is stupid, seeing as the character appearance screen exists already, and all it would take to implement this feature would be letting players access the already-existing screen whenever they want to

I think tweaking one's appearance would be fun... and it wouldn't affect gameplay at all.

If you don't want to change your appearance, don't. But I don't see any good reason not to allow those that do to do so.

This game needs more. It's already simplistic. Graphically it's amazing, but lacking in just about every other category. it's linear, it's basic, it's limited, and it's bordering on boring.

I believe you can change your appearance anytime in Everquest.
Haven't played for two years, but I remembered I could do that back then.
Oh, I would also love for the developers to add in this ability too, although I don't really need right now.

Wow, simple minded eh? You can't be serious.... this game has a limitless supply of skill varieties (Which is what the gameplay/pvp is ALL about)... I would hate to play any game if i were you.. "Goodness, my face looks funny, i think this is boring... i quit.", nice attitude... lol, i know i know, you didnt say *that* exactly... but that's basically what your putting out... Cause the missions/quests come in a Huge variety as well... if you actually explore some... basically saying, you're only boring yourself, and it's your fault ^.^

**The game is Mostly set up for PVP, and guild Wars(It's "lacking" nothing), if you don't like that, then wait for an expansion and get the added pve content, if you're really not into questing, cause you can explore every area outside of towns/mission posts...**

And with you buddy, it Would have a negative effect, it's going to be haltering the needed providing of an auction house/change in trading system in some way.

It takes time to change in game programming in an mmorpg, of course it would be using alot of already used scripting, it would have to add this extra option in the options tab, and really... the game just came out... so while it may be added, it wont be for quite some time... You just need to think about the fact that they have more important things to be working on.

Actually in EQ you were able to change both your facial appearance and hair style / color at any point you wanted.

Personally I don't see any reason *not* to be able to change at least your hair if nothing else ... I mean, we can use dye on our armor right ? And who hasn't ever used a box of Rit dye on their hair at least once ?

the masks don't cover your face in town. and maybe you want to change your body size too, which armor covering would not solve

as for this halting the other features in some way; that might not be the case. the devs who happen to be to assigned to this sort of issue (appearance screen/options) might have some spare time one day in which they can implement this.

of course i do not know how the dev duties get assigned, then again neither do you. so perhaps we should not speculate about that and needn't worry that putting in one necessary feature would somehow make the other ones not get put in also

Idea read, and accepted, good thing i wasnt too aggresive. ^.^ i see the error of my ways, and i stand corrected... But as i still wouldnt mind to see this, i'm just trying to stress my idea of having an auction house/trading system change with every suggestion... So i'm totaly not against you

I agree completely with Navaros. I originally chose an elementalist hair color that matched the apprentice suit, but now that my armor has changed, my hair no longer matches (even dye-ing doesn't make the armor as I want it). Navaros has a good point about you deciding that you don't entirely like your appearance after creation, though. You only look at the character models for a few minutes during creation, but you're looking at them for hundreds of hours after creation, so you do get a better idea of what you like after creation.

Appearance is an important part of the game. It creates more customization and therefore better for role-playing, fun, etc. That's why people spend 60,000 gold on armor that fits their tastes. The last time I checked, a game is played for having fun.

Also, 2 big MMORPG's that I know of (there are probably a lot more) that allow you to change your character's appearance after creation are Star Wars Galaxies and Ragnarok Online.

Of course, I wouldn't mind paying in-game gold to go to the stylist NPC or whoever changes your appearance. I think anywhere from 1-15K gold is reasonable.
