That would make the preorders just too powerfull, and give people without them an unfair advantage. If you want to mod a item just get a collectors/ weapon smith one. If you have money buy a gold one ^^. You can't have everything for free in this game ...

How can it be too powerfull if you can get Collector items with better stas unmodded? Also the GOTY items are the only thing i spent real money for in this game exept for the 3 campaigns. So how can the GOTY items free?

I have decided that I will purchase the upgrade only if they can be modded.

Didn't bonus items used to be upgradeable though?
I seem to remember reading that they were, but that the feature mysteriously vanished when Nightfall was released.
I feel a right plonker for never trying to upgrade my sin's daggers before NF came out now :E

Hmm.. I bought the original, GotY edition, and I can upgrade my weapons.
Has it been changed?

Original Guildwars pre-order items were upgradeable originally or use to be. (not the newer GOTY Asian imported items)
I will have to check
/~ Unsure of sign/not sign
I did not expect to be able to mod the new items to be honest when I upgraded my account.

Has definitely been changed. I've tried spawning GoTY items and upgrading them since NF came out, but it no longer works.

Maybe NOW. But I used to be able to mod my daggers when I first made them. The current way is pretty lame.

First they weren't free. I payed REAL money for them in support of Anet. Second the mods you use to upgrade the bonus items would still cost in game money so everything ISN'T free. If I want to upgrade and dye the items I spent money for that I worked hard to earn I should be able to. Besides req. 8 weapons are still more powerful.

Like I said before, mods don't grow out of the ground, you have to FIND them anyways. It's not like getting a max weapon is hard in this game. Even if the things were vanilla max weapons you could mod it would be better. As it is now, not only are they un-moddable, but you need to fit the requirement they allready have assigned. you have no options. Collectors items you can at least shop around for. this is silly.
