Moa Bird Race - GW Mini Game
Moa Bird Race – GW Mini Game
A new Mini Game for GW. In the typical Mini game fashion, the hp/energy and skills will be replace by the Mini-game only skills, but instead of using your character, you will get to play the role of a Moa Bird!
The game is a race, meaning the map will be a track, with one end as Start, and another end as Finish. The objective, like any race, is to come in first place. The challenge is more than just running, of course, but also the obstacles in the tracks, as well as attacks from the competing players.
Set Up:
The game will be a 6 vs. game, each to their own team. (can also be 4, or 8, but for the example, I think 6 would work the best) Player first enter the Race outpost. They than can talk to a Bird Handler to pick what Moa Bird to use. There should be at least 6 to 16 different type of Moa Bird to choose from, and each will have their different Skill Combos and Stats. (see more below). Once done, player can just click enter, which will see the timer and match you to a open game (like any other arena). Once in the game, your character will than be replace by a Moa Bird, and ready to race.
Track:
The track is where the race take place. It will be one long path, with starting point at one end, and finish line at another. (should take about 5 to 10 min to finish a run). There are splitting path, short cuts (but more challenging to get through), sharp turns, and plenty of tight spots that better “encourage” player-to-player action.
There would also be different obstacles on the track, such as falling rocks, tar pits, grasping vines, rolling logs, rivers, sand traps, and more. (Several of them can be easier navigated with skill, or by using certain Moa Skills). Might even add one of two mobs that chase after you too!
There are also few “fruits” along the track, which will help replenish the Moa’s HP or Energy, if they get them.
(Could also have more than one Track, depend on how much work Dev like)
Moa Race Bird:
You could pick from several Moa Race Birds as your racer for this mini game. They each have different skill combos, stats, looks, and even little bio about them.
Moa bird will have a basic of 100hp, 20 energy, and 2 arrows of energy regen, but it could be vary by the different birds. (some could have more energy, or fast running speed, etc)
Also When your hp drop down to 50, the Moa bird will start moving 10% slower. And when drop down to 25, will move 25% slower. Moa Bird can not die, but if hp reach to 5 or below, will than move 50% slower.
Some examples of the Moa Racers:
Red Thunder:
A smaller Moa Bird, who is know for its quick burst of springs.
(extra 5% moving speed. Have several Sprint skills)
Furious Black:
An aggressive Moa racer, often using its beak and claws more than its feet.
(Extra HP and 5 more energy. Pack more attacking skills)
White Wind:
A pure White Moa bird, know for its ever lasting speed.
(extra 10 energy, and have several Running, Dodging, and Sprint skills)
Fluffy Purple:
A average all around racer, but pack several interrupting skills to defend and slow down its opponent.
(extra 1 arrow of energy regen and 5 more energy. Carry more interrupting skills)
Skills:
The Moa skills act like any regular skills.
Some examples

(and don't worry too much about the balance. The number and skill are only given as examples)
Each Moa Racer will have their own build of those skills.
Reward:
Could reward the winning player a Token call Moa Coin, which they could exchange for exp, faction point, gold, and/or other goods (depend on dev). How much Moa Coin earn per game will depend on what place you come in, with first place the most reward, 2nd place 2nd most reward, and so on. Also could add a time track board that record what time you come in, and who has the best overall time in that day/hour.
Could even add a betting feature with the Moa Coin, where speculating player can bet on a game. But that is just an extra feature, not necessary needed.
Use
The Moa Racer Mini Game could be use in several places, but I see that it could first be use in some sort of event or festival, and if is popular, could be implanted as a regular arena. It provides another outlet for PvP, and a casual break from the rest of the game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that is about it for this suggestion. A Racing Mini game was suggested several time before, and I certainly won’t call this the original. Inspiration were taken from several places. Feel free to point out what could be flaw, what could be improve, or show your support. Thanks for reading.

Thought of something. It could be a good event to do for Thanksgiving, where the loosing bird will come home to diner with you!
Anyhow, for fun, thought up few more Moa Racers.
MK-0A1
Look: A mechanical Moa Bird made of steel and gear.
Bio: A Moa on the edge of death. They made him stronger, they made him faster, it’s the 100plat Moa. Formerly a tinker toy of the Stone Summit Dwarfs, they enter Mk-0A1 to show off their “superior intelligent”.
Skill: Mostly Defensive and Attacking skills. Extra Defense.
Screeecher of the Unrest
Look: A undead Moa, with bleach skull head and rotten body.
Bio: Even death can not stand her squawking.
Skill: Mostly Hex and Screeching Interruptions
Striding Firetail
Look: A normal looking Moa bird, with flame effect at its tail.
Bio: It run like its tail was on fire! (literally)
Skill: Mostly Sprint Running and Obstacle dodging.
Shadow Moaiko
Look: A Black Moa Bird wearing a black hood/mask. And two Katana sword on its back.
Bio: A mysterious Moa Bird train in the shadow art. Now, a master, it seek to reclaim its honor, and avenge his dead master.
Skill: Mix balance of skills. Also a Shadow Step like move.
Chop Chop Moa
Look: Not much different from other Moa, beside a wide panic eye and a folk stuck to its side.
Bio: A Moa own by a Canthra Restaurant owner. It sees too much of whats going on in the kitchen. It now must run for its freedom, unless he want to join in the next dinner.
Skill: Mostly Spring Running and Obstacle dodging, with some defensive.

It really should be moas because we are playing Anet's game and not Squaresoft's game. Anywho, it's a neat idea. Might take awhile to do though.

I like this idea!!!
There should also be a few differences on the races.
Such as....
Great Moa Tyrian Race - this campaign as the name suggests would be open to all players that have chapter 1. Do the same for the other chapters by changing the names to those continents. Great Moa Canthan Race, Great Moa Elona Race. You could also have one that is an All Campaign race Great Moa World Run or something for those that have all chapters linked together.
Also, I thought of a nice map that's already in game. Training area on the Island in factions. It's a fixed course, has bottlenecks, and when you get to the end you have to turn around and run back to the start....
Problems I see with this is chapter based (which I addressed)
If you where to allow all players to enter, there must be a way in which the field is [takes cover] balanced. So first each player would need to purchase a racing Moa, these would be for actual gold from the player and tied into the account, not the character. Then races would be based on experience of Moa. Skills for the racing Moas would be purchased using your Moa Coin. This allows, I believe, more diversity in the skill selections and usage. I think Moa Coins should only be allowed for the Moa Race. Not sure about the use of a Minigame to increase a RP character. I race my bird to buy a Crystaline Sword.....
