The increase of interests to Guild Halls
Hello, I'm Warmaster Tenma. Guild Master of Twilight Raven.
I came here to deliver some suggestions that might be interresting.
The subject is about making Guild Halls more interresting then already is by adding these two big and well-thought ideas.
These are mere suggestions of how to increase the popularity of Guild Halls.
Any comment is welcome.
==================================================
1. How to make it lively.
2. Increase the interests to guild halls.
==================================================
1. How to make it lively:
Guild Halls are rather large areas that are hardly used by alot of people owning
a Guild Hall.
They often only use it as a gathering point, or for a Guild VS Guild battle.
My suggestions on how to make it more of a 'home' for people, is as following.
Place down NPCs of villagers and guards designated to a specific hall.
(For example: For Warrior's Isle, use Ascalonian Guards. For Isle of meditation, use
Shing Jea Island's Guards and for the newly added Nightfall Halls, use Istani guards.)
Let them talk.
Create short sentences for guards and villagers to make it look more lively.
Place down collectors of highest demand.
Place down special dealers that deal in customized weaponry and items.
This will surely increase the interests to Guild Halls.
==================================================
2. Increase the interests to guild halls.
We already have a Guild Versus Guild option, but due to lack of membership,
Some people cannot compete in this option. For this, a special option can be added.
My suggestion is: Challenge mission.
I will use the populair Guild Hall 'Isle of Meditation' as an example for this suggestion.
Party's of minimum 4 and maximum 8 can take the Guild Challenge Mission that is as following:
Primary Objective: Defend The Castle
Secondary Objective: Ensure the retreat of the invading forces
Mission:
The Crimson Skulls have invaded the isle by boat and are trying to rid themselves of you
by dominating your Guild Hall.
They arrive on beaches and the docks at the opposite side of the isle.
(Description)
First they come in waves of 8. You must uphold the defence perimeter and not let them in.
After the waves have stopped, you will see a message on the screen that says:
"The invading forces are trying to destroy the village. Stop them."
(Yes, the isle of meditation has a small village on the other side of the isle)
Now the gates of your castle will open (if not already destroyed by the waves) and you will have to kill the remaining Crimson Skulls.
The Reward for completing this challenge will be 1 special item that can be traded in at a collector in your guild hall.
You can then exchange the reward for something of your choice.
It can either be a weapon of choice, an Armor set for your heroes, or rare items.

wow, very nice idea, i like the challenge future, when i first read about Guild Wars, this was exactly the thing i thought it was going to happen, you would defend your Guild Hall from invaders and have some sort of village to protect (much like the event of the Chosen's of Ascalon ).
im not sure about what type of rewards though.

the type of rewards are entirely up to A-net or whoever is in charge of building these type of things.
I'm glad so far people like the idea.
It'd be a good thing if you're bored from playing the main story or PVP-ing all the time.
Also, the challenge mission is also a good way to test your new member's abbillities.

Although there is almost always people hanging out at our guild hall, this would be a sweet idea to implement. The challenge mission sounds like something that would be fun and worth repeating.

I like the idea of having a specific type of npcs in the hall. Im tired of seeing that Guild Lord's ugly pseudo-beard. And why all our "soldiers" have to be canthan soldiers? Add a option to it maybe? There are so many other options, ascalonian, tyrian, eternal, white mantle, zaishen, canthan, luxon, kurzick, sunspear, kornuman, korsair etc etc etc.

that's exactly what I was thinking before making these 2 ideas.
To have every guild hall with their own style of guards specified to the guild hall.
the echovalt forets hall = kurzick guard
the jade sea hall = luxon guard
the imperial guild hall = imperial guard
the warrior's isle hall = ascalonian
the druid's isle hall = Shining Blade
and so on, and so on.

Excellent suggestions!
The Dealer NPCs might be a problem to implement as far as what they will trade (but thats A-nets call.. hehe ... gold sink anyone?), but the rest of the ideas are really good, with the challenge idea being outstanding!!!

Guild Halls would be super keen with lots of bustling activity in them.
Whether it be NPCs or an incentive for players to hang out in the guild hall from time to time and watch a challenge event.
Pretty cool.
How about making it so players can enter and observe what's going on in the guild hall?
It would be like observer mode, but their characters would actually be standing somewhere in the area, they could zoom in on the challenge event as it happens.

Very good ideas, but not necessarily rewards as in items, how about faction? And different enemies? (Undead, Crimson Skull, those pirates in NF, etc.)

anything to make GH more useful. heck im leaning towards making the GH "outpost" more like an explorable place; as in you can fight your own guildies, cast spells, and kill them, but they res automatically at the shrine with no DP.
more like a fun zone...
give me a reason why not?

Yes, of course.
I used the Crimson Skull enemy as an example for Isle of meditation, but as said by junkie, every guild hall can have their own enemies.
Imperial Isle: afflicted guards
Warrior's Isle: charr
Burning Isle: small Titans
Isle of jade: kurzicks
Isle of weeping stone: Luxons
Uncharted Isle: Corsairs
Isle of Solitude: Kournans
Isle of Wurms: undead (palawa joko's army)
The other races like krytans, undead, dwarfs and Shining blade can be implemented into prophecies' guild halls.

This would be sweet...but I don't think the reward should be something that actually helps you much. More like Hero Armor or Balthazar Faction.

I would like the rewards to be customizable things for the guild hall itself - pictures for the walls etc. I remember reading a suggestion somewhere else on this about a trophy style room for guild conquests - showing banners of defeated foes that sort of thing.
Might be a good idea if a-net were to implement a different difficulty rating on the nasties that attack the GH - starting with charr and going up through everyone to armies of titans / margonites / undead etc. That way you guild hall decorations would reflect how good the members are etc.
I would also like to be able to install a pool table, bar and a large leather sofa
