Concept Class-Defender
Class Description:The Defender has been unleashed to carry out his master's bidding whether that lead him to his own death, or his triumphant victory. He holds close the 5 gods. He even prays to Abbadon; for he if an almighty god and a Defender needs all the strength he can get.A Defender is specialized in fighting single enemies in very fast succession.
A Defender can fight either mounted, on his choice of a royal steed, or on foot. While mounted a Defender has increased speed (15%) and armor (AL90) but has a 50% chance to miss attacks because of his distance from his enemies. While on foot, a Defender has normal attack speed and armor (AL80) and uses dual axes or dual swords (which are not a single weapon, but 2separate ones. i.e. Vamp fellblade of defense and Zealous Longsword of warding.) When mounted a Defender can only use a lance and a shield.
Lance is not the same as spear. Lance is a semi-melee weapon, 5-8 ft range.
Base Stats
30 Base energy
3 Energy regeneration
Attributes:
Dual Wielding: For each rank in Dual Wielding, a Defender gains 1% chance to critical while using 2 swords or 2 axes. Many attack skills requiring the use of dual weapons increase when increasing the ranks of Dual Wielding
Lance Mastery: For each rank in Lance Mastery, a Defender gains 1% chance to critical while using a lance.
Loyalty (Primary): A Defender must be loyal to his master and must use that bond to perfect his art of fighting. Many skills including those that allow a Defender to use Mounts increase when increasing the ranks of Loyalty.
Blessings: A Defender is a hero with excellent faith in the gods. Many skills, including those which increase a Defenders' abilities become more powerful when increasing the ranks of Blessings.
Serenity: A Defender must learn to cope with rage and haste. Serenity allows a Defender to calm himself and his allies to become an overwhelming force.
Armor:
AL 80
Maximum Health -25
Weapons:
As mentioned before Defenders use certain weapons conditionally.
When mounted:
Lance examples.............Sundering Pike of Fortitude.........15-30 piercing damage (max)..........attack interval-1.75
Shield examples.............Tower Shield of Fortitude...........15 AL (max)
While on foot:
Dual Axe example...........Sundering Great Axe of Fortitude + Zealous Cleaver of Warding...........attack speed FOR BOTH is 1.10 but is alternating.
For example, if I, a Defender, attacks a Troll with the weapons above, my first attack will be with my Sundering Great Axe, and the second with my Zealous Cleaver. Axe Haft upgrades are global when they areequipped , they do not trigger when their weapon is used. Prefix mods are only used when that specific weapon is used, yet a -1 health degeneration or a -1 energy degeneration is global.
The Above rules apply to using dual swords also.
ATTENTION Daggers do not count as dual weapons for Dual Wielding attribute Skills.

umm dual wielding feels more like the primary skill.....i mean.....if a warrior had a defender secondary.....does that mean he can dual wield? and would the bonus affect him?

Yes, because Hammer mastery, Scythe mastery, Axe mastery, Dagger mastery, sword master and Spear mastery are all primaries.

didnt mean it like that. Yes it does mean that warriors could have a secondary of a defender and be able to dual wield but will not be able to mount or use any skills in Loyalty

In that case- the gimmick of a class should never only be available to primaries. The only class that has done this so far is the Dervish, but that's only because of serious balance issues.

Sounds too overpowered. Maybe if you separated this into two classes it'd be alright, but as it stands too much of it is unfair, especially dual wielding. I don't know where to begin, and thankfully I don't have to because it's only a suggestion. Work on dumbing it down or separating it out. Dual wielding is already on the assassin and your way of dual wielding is not balanced. One thing that I find silly is that it's called a defender but it's not as defensive as it is offensive -- it doesn't even wield a shield.

I agree with Kai Nui. This looks more like two professions mixed into one, so dividing it would be a good idea. For one, I would say Blessings should belong to a different profession.
@Bankai, even though the gimmick is unrelated to the name, I would say that dual wielding and loyalty are the gimmicks here, meaning that one is accessible as secondary and the other isn't. I believe that the dual wielding line should be replaced into a shield line. The tactics line might be nice to look at for some ideas. Paragon/Defender looks like a fun combination to play.
Oh as for lances.....I take it that they're melee weapons? Don't want it to be the same as a paragon. Giving the profession a binding ritual would contradict the ritualist being the only profession to summon spirits, I believe that Abaddon's remnants is more of a ritualist skill. As for the Serenity line, I believe that instead of making them shouts, they should be skill type skills (similar to troll and ripostes) The shouts, chants, echo theme belongs to paras =] Looks like a fun build to accompany the ethermage profession, since I do not very much approve of the Engineer profession.
