Lightbulb PvE fame/rank

One of the biggest complaints I or anyone else has about pickup groups is the lack of consistent skill in players. I propose to solve this by introducing a PvE fame system.

When participating with real humans in a mission, those humans would have the opportunity to annonymously raise or lower the fame of the other players by 1 when the mission ends. This fame would give you a displayable title (no suggestion on what the title is though). This title could be displayed, in order to indicate to other players your proficiency at PvE gaming, and thus make it easier to find good players for a party.

In addition, the easiest way to farm points for this title would be to help new players on early missions, which everyone appreciates, or to go on long mission-clearing streaks with your guildmates, which is also fun and skill-building.

Some might argue that this will introduce the same rank discrimination in PvE that we have in PvE. However, discriminating against bad players who ruin the fun of PuGs is not a crime, IMO.

Here's why

I take my guild to some scrubby, easy mission that takes no time to complete...say, great northern wall. in 5 minutes, we run to the end, skip the cutscene, run back to the beginning, and each of us gets 3 easy fame points.

Your idea, though thoughtful, will not work.

PvP fame doesn't even work.

Wouldn't work, as you could PvE with your guild or friends and raise their fame every time. Conversely, spiteful players would always lower others' fame. And since when do people who aren't particularly good at a game not have the right to enjoy it regardless?

some type of pve rank system would be nice but id like to see it tied to exp rather then your proposed way.

something like...

1mill exp = 1st rank
3mill exp = 2nd rank
5mill exp = 3rd rank
etc
etc

Sorry but I had to LOL at that idea.

Im seeing several farmers getting into groups because they spent untold hours grinding their XP

XP does not prove skill, it only proves that you can copy a build and farm XP.

y would people grind xp when there is no benefit in doing so?

exp may have no correlation to skill but what does in this game? titles, rank, exp? everything in this game can be farmed or bought so trying to distinguish good players from not so good players is virtually impossible.

my previous post was just a suggestion if the devs do, in fact, plan on implementing pve related rank emotes.

It's not that someone would grind now.

It's the fact that farmers already have that much xp. And 3 mil isn't a lot. 20 mil, that's when things just start getting interesting. You get 1 million just from completing a campaign. And if xp is to be counted account wide, then we should probably be looking even higher than that.

Besides, no "high-ranked" pve-er PUGs anymore, since heroes don't have any rank or skill related issues.

What she/he said nice name there Misty always nice to meet another and XP doesn'r prove how skilled you are at playing a certian role.Skill comes from knowing how to play it not time spent.

And what makes you think people without high rank/fame are bad players? Some people play only a few times a week and so would end up low-ranked. These are the people that might want PuGs, instead of hardcore PvErs who would be playing with guildies/friends anyway.
