Not a bad idea, but it's too limited in scope. A vast majority of the GW population would have no use for the weekend.

Well one could say that the tripple gold drops from chests is too specific, since many players find that chests are not worth the money to buy keys.
Besides, the weekend could help to acellerate the stabilization of gem prices, since they are still fluctuating.

Everyone has access to chests. Their opinion on the value of them is completely and utterly irrelevant. It would be quite difficult to make a less valid comparison.

It could be like the urgoz/deep one. Double gold drop and in kamadan there is someone that would take you there. Only problem is you would have to try VERY hard to get an intelligent group :/

I would support this except for the fact that DoA is MUCH harder than urgoz or the deep. When they did the open weekend for those it was overrun with groups that wouldn't get past the first part of either mission, but there were a few groups that made it.
I have a feeling that DoA would have 99% groups that could not get past the first mob. At this point DoA has mostly experienced players, and a few noobs coming in every once in a while who either want to learn, or play once and say "omfg" and never come back. I don't think DoA can handle 12 districts of n00bs right now.

Thats why I said that that was the only catch :/
I would put myself into the still learning area. I can do gloom pretty well and the stygian veil I can handle the first part solo but the others and the rest on the veil I have not even gotten around to due to not being able to even FIND a group that is not a trapper one for veil >.< maybe I come on at the wrong times.

No, i disagree with the idea, since DOA is an elite area, and weapons there should be earned with hardship, and not because of some weekend.
It is one of the most unique skin weapon area where you get something that
Anet has recently introduced to the gamers of gw. Animated weapons should not be a joke for people to be able to aquire them.
Darkest.

DoA is the Domain of Anguish. It is an elite mission that you can get to after you beat Nightfall.

zomg, just realized:
DoA= Domain Of Anguish
DoA= Dead Or Alive (as in your party, no middle ground)
DoA= Dead On Arrival (as in what this weekend would bring)
lawl, I love acronyms.

This would just piss people off who took the time and effort to buy a Tormented Weapon already. A triple DoA gem drop weekend would cause all Stygian, Margonite and Torment stones to hit ~2k each and Titan to probably hit ~10-20k. The droprates are fine as they are. Gems are few and far between. As should be the people who own a weapon worth over 1.5mil. If the price of them diminishes from overfarming then it doesn't matter, if it drops through yet another weekend event...
Oh and 15 hours in DoA is nothing... I've spent longer than that in Foundry over 3 trips and i've completed it once.
