1v1 Random Arena
I propose an arena for dueling, similar to that of scrimmages, however the matches will be randomized.
The only reason not to add this in might be because of Ritualists and Rangers, with their spirits and pets being able to pseudo-gank the opposing player. However, I believe it is fair. 7 spirites and a pet takes up the same amount of space as 4 attacks, a stance, an enchant, and a hex. This might be a great counter to cookie-cutter builds, and promote individual setups that are made to sync with the player's playing style instead of his entire team.
Alternatively, I was thinking of a 2v2 arena. That can be saved for another topic, though.
Thank you.

HvH is Anet's answer to this, Gaile even started referring to it that way. Hopefully something like a "scrimmage' i.e. rewardless duel mode will be implemented along with the ladder.
HvH has some serious issues, but 1v1 would have even more. It would be RPS to an unbelievable level. Play a monk = you can't die unless you face a mesmer or daze ranger/sin. Not fun.

I think you should /uninstall Guild Wars because it is a TEAM GAME. 1v1 would be a rock-paper-scissors situation as a melee could get grouped against a anti-melee build. It is stupid and will not happen. What do you propose about a monk also?

there already is a 1 vs 1 arena called Hero Battles and it's not very popular.
It's impossible to balance true one vs one coz certain builds would simply own.

So, wait, you think Monks would actually 1v1 just for the sake of stalling? It's kind of hard to be an efficient healer and kill the enemy at the same time. A 1v1 arena would promote the use of general purpose builds. And it wouldn't be any more rock-paper-scissors than it already is. If you go into the current Random Arena with the wrong Mesmer build, then guess what, you're paper and they're scissors. The only difference is that team battles area a collective r/p/s. Who has the most amount of countering combinations wins. It also comes down to skill; and it would be no different in a 1v1.
Who cares if GW is a team game at heart? Do you have something to lose by GW expanding its features?
