GW Bestiary
I'm sorry, my session timed out and it did something funky to my first thread. X___x Just my luck.
I ran a search for "bestiary", "monster book", "monster guide" and "monster log". I even looked through the already done list of ideas to see if anyone else thought of this idea. Either I totally missed it (in which case, I apologise ahead of time and feel free to brick me) or it's really not there.
My idea was for a GW Bestiary, kind of like what was done for the rerelease of FFI and II and also what's been done in games like Tales of Symphonia/Phantasia... After every encounter, you "unlock" a monster and you get to view it in your book with rotating ability. The details and textures on the monsters are so cool and you don't really get to get a good look at them when they're too busy chewing on your skull or setting you on fire.
And I thought also with these new chapters that they should be sorted by which chapter they appear in, what maps you encountered them on, how many hitpoints and spellpoints they have, etc.
It's just another "bells and whistles" type request, but I really enjoy looking at all the monsters and even non-monsters such as the dwarves and the NPC's. For example, Glint could be unlocked in Prophecies and Zunraa can be unlocked for Factions.

that would be interesting, perhaps add it like an npc at the main cities that tells you about monsters (like the guy that tells you about the arrival of the queen scarab)

The best way in which the 'unlock' would work is if a particular monster dies in your agro circle. This way you do not need to actively kill the monster, but it also prevents any possibility of additional leeching... not sure why, but its a good safeguard :P
It seems like a pretty big project, but I really like the idea. Anet already has statistical information on each monster, and this would really help Gwiki alot

Awesome idea!!!!
The monster log in which creatures you've defeated are entered for later viewing!
They shouldn't have any numerical stats though, just general comments like Strong, Extremely Hearty, etc.

Was there ever any given reason why we never really know how much hp and sp a monster has when we encounter it?

^Awesome game, I would love that exact format for a bestiary. It would be interesting to know how much health, energy, weaknesses and strengths, attribute points, etc. the monsters have.

It'd be fun to have titles for how many monsters you unlock, as well.

It's cos your supposed to kill it anyway regardless . I like the idea, it would be nice to have a better look at all the imaginative beasties of GW for once, and I also think it would be a cool challenge to get a title for logging them all down. "Legendary Beast Hunter"... .

Like I said, it'd be another "bells and whistles" thing that I know I'd get a real kick out of. Sometimes still images do these monsters no justice.

The bestiary in Tales of Symphonia was one of the nicest features in the game. And it's true, you don't get a chance to see many of the GW creatures in a lot of detail, which is a real shame. And hey, new titles! What's not to like?

I wonder if they're categorised somewhere hidden like they were for games like Ragnarok Online: Demihuman, Ghost, Plant. They had a class, subclass and element if I recall correctly. I think the subclass was where it was marked as boss or not or the other way around. But in RO the wizards had an ability that would reveal the weaknesses and strengths of the monster you were fighting.

If there was a bestiary. Sticking with the guild wars theme. I don't think the bestiary would have numerical stats of monsters. I mean its more fun not knowing. If we did know then that would take the skill out of the game. It would simply become a calculator game.

I like this idea very much. Even if it was just a glorified model viewer it would make me happy, but a little paragraph about the creature would be great too. It would really help people understand the relationships between species a little better. I also think it's one of the few suggestions for a new title that actually works imo. I think 'bells & whistles' is probably the best way to describe it.
