BUT you don't have fun anymore by ''discovering'' new emotes...
And that's not so much fun...

No. Not instead. Additionally.
Menu->Emotes: Emote Panel.
Move mouse over emote icon: tooltip with the command(s) in your languange.
Click on emote icon: Character performs emote.
There could be also a 'disable aura' button there. Some people do not like having it active permanently.

Its an idea ive suggested before and its a good one. WoW doesnt use icons, it has a menu bar you open and you choose the emote to do.
It would be nice to just be able to open a list of emotes to do ingame, because there such a staggering number of them and they add more alot.
I dont even know half of the emotes you can do,and this would help people discover them.

I don't know
If people REALLY want to know all the emotes,
they could search on the internet or look and ask around...
But most people think it's fun just for 1 time (using it and forget ....)
Thats just not fair for the ''freaks''...

how about instead of new menu, allow us set up emotes as hotkey. it simpler to use than a menu and its not like in wow i think.

A little mission comes to mind in NF, where your expected to know 4 or 5 very vague emotes. Your expected to copy the actions of an NPC to complete it. It could be the case that you have never used these emotes, or your not very fast at typing.
Both of which mean if you dont copy him in enough time, you cant get the bonus for that mission.
Its true you can look up online what his possible emote he might use, but since he fluctuates, you cant never know 100%.
Your telling me that having a UI showing them all wouldnt make instance such as that easier?

They add new ones. New ones which you have no idea about unless you see someone doing it, or you ask. Otherwise you would never know.
And the last I checked, a piece of software such as GWs is intended to be user friendly (not a popular term now). How is giving us emotes which you only use if you rememeber them off-the-top-of-your-head user friendly?
And there is a good many of them. Far too many for most people to remember.

I always prefered a drop down bar for a list of emotes in games.
One on the chat window.
freekedoutfish, you mentioned WoW has a menu of emotes. If I remember from playing it would be similar to that.

A emote panel would be easily done and client side, so no lag about it.
And, there is something you forget. Something VERY important.
No more people asking:
How do I do dance?
How do I do wave?
How do I do show rock?
How do I do that ready thing?

If you get the Factions Zboard Keset, they have keys assigned to the emotes.

really this seems like a trivial thing...... how many emote do you need? i do not think you need the icons it will just clutter your screen more though a menu with a list of the emote might be good. then there is an option to have it but it wont be useless icons, all in all though you should just remeber the emotes you use, its not hard, to jump its /jump not /gugugugamakrhrejhrgs.....

It would make taking down the silent clown, Lumo too easy though!
If such a clickable list was created and made to disappear in scenarios such as the Emote Battle with Lumo the Mime, I would support its addition into the game's basic chat interface.
I also would be content with the idea Lyra_song proposed above with a /commands command that would provide a list of emotes.

Or maybe in town and outposts replace the skills in the quick skill bar with emotes so you could have up to eight emotes set. and not take up any more screen space.

we had a good way to access out emotes in Matrix online... it was a lil icon in the bottom left of ur screen u clicked and gave a list of emotes, but it never gave the whole list just the most popular ones... wouldnt that work? that way u still have the fun of finding the new ones but all the new people to the game wont be asking "how do i do so n so" just an idea.

Is it just me or are people getting lazier and lazier? is typing a /, typing a d, typing an a, typing an n, typing a c and typing an e really too much work? It's just as stupid as that idea for minipet boxes because clicking it all the time is so much work.
