Default a simple fun idea

i was always a big fan of the first background of the main menu in the game, y'know the camp/tents. i was pretty dissapointed that when factions came along, they changed it and then it changed when nightfall came out. i think it would be a neat idea to be able to choose what kind of main menu background we want, as well as the music to it.

The Nightfall menu is horrible. The lighting is just bad.

The title of this thread is extremely false. It would be far from simple. When faced with this suggestion in the past, Gaile has stated the reason we don't have this is that the old backgrounds are no longer compatible. The Prophecies one can only handle four characters; it doesn't have the side scrolling like the other ones(a lot more reasons why not compatible than just this but just to give an idea...). Anyway, to make the old backgrounds usable again; they'd basically have to remake them from the ground up. It would be a major pain and a general waste of time.

I do think it could be done with relative minor effort. I always though the background and the characters in the character selection are two seperate thing. Afterall, its not like the character is inside and interacting with the backgound, thus any static image could be use as background (but I could be wrong, havn't look carefully at the title screen for while now)

I am they change the background mainly to promote the latest chapter. I think allowing player to select differnt background won't be too bad.... (I miss the Whale...)

I just want to say... how is this a "fun" idea?

Why does it matter what background you have? You're there all of 2 seconds while you choose which character to play. If you're staring at the background of the character selection screen, you have wasted your money and have too much time on your hands.

Also, knightsaber is right. It's a waste of time. Not many people would bother changing it, because a lot of players don't care what the selection screen looks like. If you want to stare at the old character selection screens, why not just download a screenshot of them from google?

Does anyone have screens of all three? I really don't remember how the first one looked...
