I really like the idea to have more then one cape look (the long cape, cape that covers shoulders, etc.). It would make a lot mroe customization.
Two Thumbs up.

I would like to see more designs for the emblem
I dislike most of the designs, as most of them are either of a western old fashioned or an eastern old fashioned style.
I like very few of the designs, those which look modern or prehistoric; for example, I like the 5 fingered emblems, mainly the one with a spiral and 5 fingers like lines which looks like an australia's aboriginal design, I like the stylist spider (which is the Last Pride's emblem) and other similar to these.
So, for a full /signed, I wish to be included:
A suggestion for more styles of emblems: modern, prehistoric, aboriginal, Joan Miro, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, emblems with either an animal or a flower are nice too, probided they do not look old fashioned. As well as comic like emblems.
And, nevertheless, the best would be if each player could choose her own emblem, to put in the middle of the cape, and let the guild's emblem to stay in a corner of the cape. I agree with those who would like a more personal cape. After all, teams are mainly distinguised by a generalized red/ blue/ yellow/ purple/...

I was discussing this with a guildie once, and we thought it would be cool to actually change the top part of the cape. Ya know, the part that comes over the shoulders and wraps around the front. There should be different styles for that part, including a style that doesn't have the front part (and likewise doesn't conflict with the style of armor you're wearing).

I'm sure we all would like to see more emblem choices. And now with the Factions Emblem Contest over, I'm anxious to see the new designs they are releasing.
However, that does not solve the problem. As before, all the "popular" emblems will still be chosen. And we're back to square one again.

That I would like to see too! For some armors, the cape actually goes through or into it.

That'd be cool to be able to change that little metal emblem circle on the front too.

I want to see towels, bedsheets/blankets as options too ^_^
lol ok, at least maybe a different "weight" to choose from, a tattered heavy cloth cape should have a different flow than a fine silk cape... ya know?

I can think one reason why the freedom of customising capes yourself is not good idea. People are stupid, there would be male anatomy drawed by laying to or more umm shapes on top of each other them.. dang sorry bad english. There could be more freedom, but it needs to be very nazilike so ppl wont make any cocacola capes.

I remember this being raised before release and something about technical issues and rendering complexity. Basically the current system simplifies some processes which are executed fairly often (once per character in the district).
This is something that would be nice to have, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Considering that just about every player in the game wants to be the leader of their own guild (way too much hassle for me), we would definately need more diversity in cape designs.

I could care less about the customization...but there really needs to be an update for the physics of the cape so your arms and weapons don't magically go through it. Also so it fits better to the character's armor would be nice.

The problem with uploading your own image is that it provides too much freedom. Inappropriate graphics could be uploaded.
Not to mention it takes up addition server space and bandwidth. It also relates to how well the game performs. When you visit a town, every instance of every graphic (from the players, the capes, the terrain) has to be loaded. If everyone in the town had a different emblem they uploaded themselves. You would need to have each one downloaded prior to entering the town.
Hence this topic. By giving us more options in customization, things can be regulated to give the most flexibility with minimal drawbacks.
