Although ArenaNet offers some prizes I feel they think are "great" for their Design-A-Weapon Contest, the best one of course is the fact that your design ends up in the game. However, if you were one of the winners of this contest and your design was used in-game, wouldn't you like to be the first character with that item? I would love to see ArenaNet actually give your in-game character that item, in a gold edition and maxed, but without any mods installed on it. Whether it was a weapon, focus item, shield, etc. So your character would be the first person in-game to be wielding the item that you created. What do you think?

Anet does not have the ability to spawn items in the live server.

I am not asking them to spawn an item. I am asking them to give that item directly to your account to your character of choice. Much as they would do with birthday presents. The item would be customized for you as well so you could not sell it to another character. They are more than capable of doing this.

I am assuming by your comment that birthday presents are not put directly to your character? I don't know for sure as I have only been playing since December. I was under the assumption that this was true. Am I wrong?

And even if they don't work that way, I find it hard to believe that they couldn't put an item into your vault or a character's inventory being that they have your characters on their servers. Anyway, I didn't come here to argue about the technical aspects of ArenaNet. I came here to discuss an IDEA, which should generate a discussion of whether or not prize-winners in their contests would like to see this implemented somehow. Any other type of discussion is counter-productive.

though they could supply a key, that u just add 2 your account therefore allowing you to spawn it as a bonus item

you do get items put in your invetory for the bday present when you type /age so they could add a /somthing to get your prize and hey this would be cool but i dont think this would be easy but meh /signed

Spawns a Gold, req 9, no inscription, no prefix of suffix weapon. I can't see the harm in it ^^

You might want to search for the Design-A-Weapon thread, Gaile states exactly what they think about spawning the item in game for the winners.

And its not going to happen.

Basically, you win nice real life prizes and receive mention on the website, that you don't need to receive the item in game as well.

What if they do it like they do for Gray Giant?

Winner get a code. Enter the code in you log in, where than will give you the weapon. One use per account.

They could also send a high-res pic of the 3-D model weapon to the winner too.

Or last idea... like the code, but spawn a floating mini weapon (like mini pets) of your deign that follow you. That would be perstiage~

yeah great idea. if my weapon won I know what I would do upon being the first to receive it. Ill sell it asap for hundreds of ecto then buy one later for way less.

That's why I stated that the weapon would be customized for you, preventing you from selling it.
