The most ridiculous idea I have had (and you can have too!)...
As awkward as the title is, I sat down for a moment and thought about GvG after browsing the PvP forums, then saw other random posts about nagging about pvp and pve and how loosely they are related, with the exception of course on HA and FoW/UW in an attempt to become completely disrelated.
I had also thought about how useless the past weekend event was for GvG champ points where only a few guilds could get them. So I pondered about all of these topics and thought of one of the absolute most ridiculous ideas ever: What if the Guild Lord dropped a Glob of Ectoplasm?
I think I tried to relate winning in HA compared to the difficulty, and rewards into GvG for some reason.
I actually started laughing, then attempted to think of some reason to just try and justify my answer out of pure want as to why this would be legit, but had no brain power to do so.
Like I said ridiculous idea, but I would want this to be discussed! Ninja Style!
PvE'ers would you actually start to GvG? Would Ectoplasm be overfarmed?
Would this make the desire to PvP more profitable for PvE based characters?
Would PvP'ers become angry? Could this be a kind of legitament weekend event? What other ridiculous ideas do you think can make the game more interesting?
Discuss!

I think this is a good idea, just like the HoH chest. (Oh and ecto's would drop to, /wink).

I think this should be in Sardelac...I think thats the suggestion forum.
As a PvEer, I don't think ecto would make me PvP more, since I don't care about prestige armors either, lol. Thats just me.

This is not an actual suggestion, just a completely random thought. I am not actually proposing this I just want to see what people actually "think" about the legitamacy of a completely awkward idea.

Personally, imo, having really weird things like this as short events that randomly pop up would be kinda fun. Like that time when Lions arch looked like Amnoon or something. I wasnt there but I saw the pics. Or that glitch where there were a thousand ghost in the box ghosts in Kamadan and other towns.

For me, I prefer PvE as a type of play, not because it's profitable,so no it wouldn't turn me PvP. Why not though?

I can't see PvE players liking this. Or this even causing PvE players to GvG.
So you have a 1 in 8 chance to get the ecto from the Guild Lord in your group. That leaves 7 other players on the team unhappy. Not only that, but these PvE players will need to start PvPing...and be good at it. You aren't going to get that ecto if you can't win. Many will give up after a few attempts at GvG and move on. Farming UW is much more efficient that a Guild Battle.
If that ecto is supposed to lure PvE players into GvG, it will surely never work.

As long as they don't drop in GvGs where you can invite someone to fight you, this would be fine. If it did then 2 Guilds could get together and make 8 ectos (I'm assuming the GL would drop one for each person) per about 5 minutes.
Edit: I guess from what Vilaptca said it would only be one ecto total for the group, in which case this seems pretty pointless, and could lead to anger in the guild.

I am indifferent to ectos, and have never had much luck in pvp. I also have way too many characters to get as far through NF as I can stand.

Aren't Ninjas usually quiet? Or do you mean by coming out with a Thief/Tenchu "I'm going to kill you" attitude with high jumps and flips and blades flapping and flaring with 50 Shurikens flying at you per second type of Ninja Style? I'm confused as to which one you want.
Either way, I'm not sure it would be a great idea. If Guild Lords start dropping Ectos, then I can see people setting up Guild scrimmages and just start "farming" ectos that way. Do a 1v1, gank the NPCs, kill GL, collect Ecto. Throw in some conditioner, rinse and repeat. Use as directed. I believe you have to kill Guild Lords in the Dajkah Inlet Challenge Mission as well. Killing them is pretty easy. Especially on the first map. It takes about 3 minutes max. You could just keep killing him over and over again.

If I wanted to do something like a GvG I'd do that weird challenge mission.

I like this suggestion because it lessens the gap between PvE and PvP without forcing anyone to play either gametype to be successfull in the other.

Well, if this idea really become true then there will be GvG farming going on. Lacking the real meaning of guild wars! You can just make 2 guilds! Keep losing until the rating is rediculous low! Then whenever 2 guilds enter, they will surely meet each other then just go on and kill guild lord! Then resign! WoW what an idea!

heh yea um no
the reward of gvg is to have a high ranked guild, its all in the presige. if you add this it ruins all of the current reasons for gvg and it will become a useless farm area with no potential for bragging rights about your guild.

People don't "/signed" or "/notsigned" this is not an actual proposition just an idea and what people think could be legitament about it. Darn it! I don't want the thread to degenerate I have more random ideas!

triple/quadruple faction for gvg (and double for HA) would be nice tho. Its supposed to be the peak of the game, not random arenas. At triple it'd be about even, quadruple it'd dominate. I thin a pvp reward would be better than a pve one, doncha think?
Edit: heh, and this is sardelac its about actual ideas. If you want random ideas go to off-topic and inane or that other one where you just go to talk But this is a decent legitimate idea so peopel are/sign and /unsigning it.
