I say go all the way and make them modable, dyable, recreateable if you already have one, and inscribable.
In fact why not just let PvE chars use the J button to "make" bonus items as they want them? Maybe you have to choose among equivilants (elemental damages would be one group, vamp/zealous another, added condition effects another, etc). This would be good for the player because using the /bonusitem commmand makes all the bonus items for your account when you just might want one of them.

I'll probably buy the GOTY upgrade if the weapons are moddable. Otherwise, I don't really see the point.

How about just give us the command to make the bonus item we want?
Example: /BonusIcySoulbreaker
ect.
We don't need to choose all that other stuff. If you want mods just buy them like your other weapons.
I agree about them being dyeable though.

I can see why the original mods cant be salvaged, and even if they made it so we cudnt salvage what we put on it, would be ok, the Soulbreaker is by far the best scythe skin, but its useless for what I want it for.

I don't really care about not being able to change the mods on the bonus items, but at least allow us to add mods where there aren't any. I'd like to be able to add a 20% enchanting to the Spiritbinder, or a +5 armor to the Nevermore Flatbow.

Yes, the idea is to be able to put mods on bonus items that would replace the old mods which we could only get back by going out and buying the mods again then placing them back on or just destroying the weapon and remaking it. You wouldn't be gaining anything just the freedom to have different mods on the bonus items.

The bonus items are fine. They are max damage, right? I'm almost 100% sure they are, and that's all that really matters. You don't have to have the 15^50 mod in order for the weapon to be useful. Heck, I don't think more than 2 of my heros even have max damage weapons on any of my chars, yet I still beat Nightfall once perfectly fine, and I'm getting through it on my other chars perfectly fine. BTW, I use heros a lot.
Now if they can't be dyed, that's another story. It won't accually affect you, except you won't look as good, and nothing can replace good looks.
/signed to having the bonus items being dye-able if they aren't already

Because thats rediculous and has nothing to do with this. Bonus items aren't somthing anet just gives out. You have to pay to own them. You don't gain anything from them other then their skin and infact letting us do this would make bonus items even lesser then normal weapons since once you invest money in the mod you put on it you can't take it off. Thats our choice and thats how it should be.
An yes this is largely about vanity but then again so is Guild Wars in general.
15k Armors are the same as 1k armors they just look better. Rare weapons skins function the exact same as the weapons you can craft they just look better. Tormented weapons are extremely difficult to get and for what? Again its the skin!
Even in PvP you can choose different skins for armors for nothing more then looks.

Since you can create them as often as you want, it seems unreasonable to be able to mod them.
Maybe if they changed it so that it each weapon was created only once then the ability to mod them would seem more reasonable.

I don't see how its unreasonable. If you mod it and make it again you would have to remod it. Otherwise could you explain how it would be unreasonable?
Remember people bonus items were moddable for a long time and they never created an upset. I think modding the bonus items was disabled accidentally when they added inscriptions.

IMO all those bonusitems, minus the serrated shield, are kinda useless now... I really like the Nevermore flatbow skin. In the past i was able to add a healthgrip to it, but now i cant do that anymore

I saw the £3 upgrade yesterday, and bought it on impulse - really just for the bow, as I thought the skin looked cool. Was really disappointed when I couldn't add a grip to it.

I just bought the upgrade, and the weapons only seem to have one mod on them. I would like to be able to add the second to use them on my heroes.
