New Explorable Areas, Quests, And Possibly Missions Needed Badly
I would like to make a suggestion to ArenaNet that they should seriously consider stop with just these weekend events and take some time to patch the game up and add some new quests, explorable areas, and maybe even a new mission or two to Guild Wars to hold us over while we wait for Eye Of The North. I'm being serious here when I say that Guild Wars is becoming stagnant and that people are either moving on to games that offer more or are quitting altogether dude to lack of new content. I have heard many people in game and quite a few from my guild in general saying when will ArenaNet give us some new content or maybe fix some of the bugs in the game such as the constant random crashes and lag spikes? I think it would be beneficial to add at least another explorable area to maybe Factions similar to Sorrow Furnace in Prophecies and seeing Nightfall already has Domain Of Anguish. I know that Factions has the 2 elite missions but you pretty much have to either own the towns of either Cavalon or House Zu Heltzer or get a ferry down there and pray someone will take you in their 12 man group. I say we make an explorable area that is open to everyone with some new quests, green weapons and off hands, maybe new monsters, and at the very least something else for people to do. All I'm asking is just for some more stuff to do to keep people like me interested in playing while I wait for the next chapter.

Here's the thing, ANet's target audience is the casual gamer. That was the general premise of their model, and its how they've (mostly) geared the game. (Of course there are plenty of features for the hard core gamer, but the basic idea is a casual gamer and a "grinder" would be only separated by individual skill.)
The hard core gamer is not going to be satisfied with minor updates, these forums are a testament to that. They want more and more, and when they are given more, they still want extra. Note: That's not a bad thing necessarily.
The amount of time/effort put into the Weekend Events are geared towards the Casual Gamer. A person who could spend a few extra hours beyond their normal routine participating in said events. Now if they instead allocated the same time/effort into missions/quests/areas it would be minimal to say the least.
Sorrow's Furnace took a long time. You're talking about everything from art, to models, to story lines, etc... and what about bugs? The more complicated you make something, the greater the chance of errors.
Now where am I going with this? Well, first of all, its 3 A.M. and the fact that that alone made me break into a Matchbox Twenty song says I'm not entirely coherent...
Anyways, back to my point. The casual gamer still has PLENTY of content to do, just on the PvE side. Let's say our casual gamer has 2 of the three campaigns. That's 6 characters, at the minimum. Now, for a hardcore gamer, that might be just two weeks of play. Bing, 12 games beat! For the casual though, I doubt if even half of those characters have beaten both said chapters.
What I'm trying to say is, for those that are demanding more "content" to keep them satisfied for the six or seven months until the GW:EN expansion are never going to be satisfied.
Let's say ANet holds off on skill balances and events for three weeks and kicks off a halfway decent new area / mission. It would take, maybe a few days (if that!) for the hardcore gamer to beat it? Then what? Back to square one, give me more content.
Meanwhile, the casual gamer has a bigger stack of things tossed on his palette.
In my opinion, all these events are, is a chance to shake up the game a bit for the casual gamer. An excuse to log in a few more hours.
The mob that is hardcore gamers wouldn't be satisfied regardless, they aren't even satisfied with chapters when they come out for that matter. Imagine the uproar if ANet took away time from skill balancing / whatever to work on non-storyline influencing content. Then you have those that will complain that the new content isn't up to their expectations, etc. And then there is all the "Well they don't have time for Auction Houses, Proper Skill balance, whatever, but they have time for a new mini pet, etc."
In the end, those that aren't satisfied or are "in danger" of leaving to another game would never be satisfied. ANet is working towards their intended player base, and doing (what I think) they need to do, to shake it up just a bit to keep the casual gamer involved.

I could appreciate if this was an old thread which had been brought back to life from over a year ago.
But you posted this yesterday, and your asking for new content?
Have you been living under a rock for the last 4 months?
Guild wars: Eye of the North
An expansion which will give us whole new content in all 3 compaigns. Thats kinda of annoying when people ask for things that are so obviously already in development.
Besides that, there are around 9 proffessions. Considering how long it can take to run just one character through all 3 games, that would take a long time to do that with every single profession.
There is endless replayability in GWs because of that. Have you run a character of every profession through all 3 campaigns? If you have then fair enough, if not then do it. That will give you something to do.
If your playing through the game too fast, then slow down and take your time.
[edit]
As for the crashing thing. GW doesnt crash that much and its usually a line problem. I played WoW for 2 months and the connection issues in that game were terrible. I got kicked off every 30 minutes when first playing it.
In the 2 years ive played GWs, ive had hadly any issues. And even when you do, its nothing near as bad as what WoW was like (a pay monthly game).

Becoming stagnant and people moving on? I would like to see some statistics before believing you. You can't generalize on what's happening only around you.
Alot of people complaining about nothing to do? That's because people who have things to do aren't sitting around in towns and outposts and complaining all day. We're actually out there playing the game and not chatting in the game.
Random crashes? GW hasn't even crashed once since I installed it over a year ago.
Lag spikes? That's more your internet connection than the game you know. Either that, or your graphics card couldn't keep up with the rendering.

I guess I must be a hardcore player then. I have one of each of the original proffesions interspersed with some of the new cc's and played them through most of the games. The problem is I get bored. Doing the same mission 8 or 9 times with different cc's doesnt provide much in the way of a challenge as once you have worked your way around it you can pretty much do it with all. The new 'expansion' is probably the best thing they could have done. Titles, mini pets and festivals hold no fixation for me but maybe an area that gradualy gets harder as you go along with out post stop off as you ascend, decend or travel along would be great. They could mix up monsters and things like that in those areas to stop guaranteed farming builds and the rebirth of a balanced party.
I dunno I signed a petition for areas like this ages ago and it seemed popular.
As for crashes well just about a year ago I remember lots of people getting stuck in Piken square but other than that isolated incident GW has run flawlessly for me

Well, as a hardcore player I do enjoy the events somewhat. The extra and special drops and the elite skills are my favorites. Then the holidays are always something special. The PvP I can live without it just bores me and I get tired of getting my skills nerfed because the PvP's cry. But, I try and get by with what I got and actually I have not problem keeping myself busy. Frankly, I should be doing my taxes now. I would like some new content In Pre a green dropable expert salvage and a outpost in the Northlands only level 12s can enter and something higher than level 10 to kill. And there are some mighty interesting doors places that would be nice if the were dungeons. Also I would like a key and party favor tab in storage. But finding time to play GW is not my problem finding time to do laundry, go to work, walk the dogs, do the dishes, I think you get my meaning.

Erm.. you clearly missed the weekend event which allowed you free access to Urgoz and The Deep... we used that to park some spare characters there for our guild.
Perhaps you should look more deeply at what the weekend events have to offer? I think you'll find plenty to keep you occupied until Eye of the North comes out. Maybe not every weekend if you're not into PvP, but I certainly find plenty to distract me from normal gameplay.
I'm assuming that if you need more to do, you have all the titles, you've done all of FoW, UW, Tombs, DoA, (clearly not Urgoz and The Deep as you seem to be complaining about those) and can solo them all.
Yep, look like you just have the weekend events left. And believe me, they can be a lot of fun.
