Request Pearlescent Dye
Just wondering if people would like the idea of having pearlescent dye on their armour like on cars so armour colour would look different from different angles.
My idea is that a new vial of dye called Pearlescent or something of the sort should be added. On its own it would just look like a silver dye but when mixed with other colours a pearlescent effect should take place when applyed to armour. I guess these dye would also have to be atleast as rare as black dye or black dye prices would fall dramatically

Nice idea. /signed.
I'd like to see a line of "premium" dyes. Pearlescent, Rainbow, Sparkles, Neon Glow, etc. Perhaps a nice addition for GW2 or GW:EN.
....and yes they should be rarer and costlier than Black dye.

=/ I don't know how cloth armor could be shiny and change color depend on how you look at it.
I do like the premium dyes idea.

Plenty of fabrics in the real world have this property. Silk is often 'shot' with another colour. One technique that I believe consists of using one shade of thread for weft and a second colour for warp. (Thats up-down and left-right, don't ask me which is which though!
I'm no fabrics expert, but I've seen plenty of nice evening dresses and waistcoats that appear different colours when viewed from different angles. It would seem a natural addition to Mesmer armour sets.
However, it seems to me like it might be a bit difficult to code.

My ele guy's armour (Hydromancer Ascended 15K) is almost completely pearlescent (except for the parts dyed black). It looks really nice, especially when you're in a cave!

That is not a dye... that is a dye additive, like Silver dye.
Actually, the Krytan armor has a pearlescent surface.
There could be:
- Perlescent: Your suggested perlescent.
- Chrome: Gives shiny metal texture.
- Silver: Current silver, gives non-shiny metallic texture.
- Gloss: Gives 'plastic', shine, like vinyl clothing.
- Glitter: To make textures have little shiny sparks on their surface.
Black+Gloss>Assassin armor. Black leather armor... hehe...
Combined with a dye areas idea already suggested before, you could make any armor look exaclty what you gant it to look.
For example, making a Kurzick armor white and gold.

i find it kind of pointless honestly. i dont agree with that. cause then people want to go all rainbowie and mix all these colors to become some sort of shiny colorchanging chameleon of sorts..
if you want colors like that. go play need for speed and paint a car to that effect.
just my 2 cents....

This is nice idea. Though trivial (but then again what isnt here). Why not some other textured "dyes" as well?
