Oh yes one more thing! ! ! !
while we are talking about incongruencies and lack of backward compatabilities it bothers me to no end that I may be expert salvaging items and rather than get a prompt screen about what I might get out of it and the risks most of the time with Propheices items and others, it will just turn it into raw materials. Can they not put a tag, at the very least, indicating that it will do this rather than just turn something I think might be salvagable into rubble? So tired of the inconsistencies between versions.

Alright, to the rant:
I didn't know that insignias didn't work on non-NF armor. So I bought 5 assassin Nightstalker insignias without knowing. Tried to apply...doesn't let me. So I sell it back for half what I paid for them.
If they're not going to allow application of insignias to non-NF armor, then at LEAST make them /unavailable/ to Tyrian and Canthan characters.

You always had and always have had a certain possibility to salvage materials from a weapon with magic componenents (mods) on them. If you don't want wood, but a Vampiric bow string, work on your treasure hunt and/or wisdom title track. (I'm not sure wether [spelling] the update made it more likely to get materials in Prophecies, but honestly don't believe that)

2) Reinstate the item capacities from Prophecies that were gelded out with the introduction of Factions and NightFall or very quickly afterwards. I have a very broad selection of weapons from all 3 "versions" and it is clearly evident that the 20% recharge/cast bonuses do not work on the older items any more, as well as other attributes on weapons.
3) Stop this insane 'over managing' of the game under the guise of fixing things. Frinstance - they put a whole scad of greens in the Sorrow's Furnace to attract activity only to start making it impossible to reasonably treasure hunt there. (don't need to hear all the arguements about the market [which will always exist], cause who cares except the areanet and ncsoft which want to capitalize in their own way from it].)
4) Bring the designers and grfx artists back and make some realistic cool armor for the monk class instead of these paper dresses. A monk is the renegade of the grp, who may be likened to a drummer in a band, a lonewolf, wildman, or dark element, or retreating spirit. I refuse to upgrade my "skin illlustrations" (thank you Illustrated Man one of the best books and movies ever made - [scifant] Ray Bradbury) despite the fact I can not afix the latest insignias for monks on my skin. Monks should not all be running around in bathrobs, housecoats and leisure wear lounge frocks, smocks,.. what have you.
I am sure leaving insignias out was an ommission to force you to upgrade/purchase the latest version of the game if you wanted more capabilities and you can be sure they will have something very similar in the next release in 2007.
The defections and exodus may start anytime soon due to the insidious "tinkering".
6) One last thing. I am a member of many international technical forums and communities and due to technical expertise, have discovered, to the delight of many, the PR people posing as the public or innocent players. Guild wars and its communities is racked with them. If they would like to have their ppl out there perhaps they should be only offering up suggestions instead of the cold hard canned responses they throw in your face [meant to preclude any reasonable discussion] or the sniping they do for logical well thought out opinions and ideas, like how we dont have to pay for server time in the form of a monthly subscription fee. Or they arent enough resources to do something, or this discussion is too confusing , etc.
There are no simple answers for anything so don't accept a slam answer on you queries else we be moving on. There are many more games on the horizon.

I don't know, if you bought Fifa '07 (or whatever standalone game) and want things to change, do you have the right to be whining about things? Do they have to make changes to the game if some want to? What makes Anet having to do this then?
|
I am not going to quote all Your message. Too much writing and too much energy to be lost. You definitely look like ANET Squire. Why? I do not mean to insult You, but seems like Your tactics is "Defend them at any cost".
But tu the point. Well, let's suppose, that I buy Fifa'07. I don't like football, but let's follow Your suggestion. It is just alike I bought GW 2 yers ago? Or similar. IF the author of Fifa'07 decides to make changes and so - a PATCH is published. It is up to YOU to decide if You want it or not (to install or not).
Here in GW we are talking about being forced to have changes. What worst is - backwards changes! IT is not only changes in NF (which I decide to buy or not). The changes are made to Prophecies as well.
And let's just agree to one thing. I HAVE DECIDED TO BUY the game in the VERSION it was WHEN I WAS BUYING IT. I knew exactly what I WAS buying and WHAT I was paying for. I don't like MOST of the "enhancements" - due to the main ANET tactics - forbid more and more, cancel more and more possibilities etc. COOL way of thinking BTW. Instead of giving more freedom to the players, who'd like to enjoy the gameplay - more limitations.
So we are talking about changes, which a player is FORCED to fetch, WITHOUT letting him/her choose if he/she would like those "enhancements" to have.
So don't even dare to compare the case like You did to other games. Because I could actually give You several titles of games, which advance in the proppr side of enjoyment and gameplay.
And the arguments alike "then stop playing it" is definitely unpropper to the situation. Despite of money spent on it - who'd give me my time back? OR, by the consumers law - if I'd forcefully decide not to get money back and wanted to still play the game as it WAS when I was buying it? Is there any disclousure about it in the EULA?

My first character through Prophecies, a Necro, was rewarded with a Grotto set fully died black.
hmmmm, I'm sensing a big waste of money here if I can't put what isignias on I want. Oh well.
Proably won't buy much armour this chapter and wait till they've changed everything possible to change with them and then start buying armour.

You make me laugh. Really you crack me up. I never, never, never, never at anytime said go play another game. Also, Anet specifically stated that they were going to use this type of updating and balancing. Also, what updates are so spoiling the game for you if I may ask. And calling me a fanboy, even by not saying it, shows that you have not read or thought about what I posted. You know I was right on those points. And what are the limitations, canceling and forbidding you are talking about? And about playing the game like it was in the version it was? Well guess what, you knew they were gonna update the game, so please shut up. Go whine about how cold it is outside.
I'm looking forward for another response. This time, you might want to think before you post and come up with some sense. Man I love haters.
O right, happy Wintersday!

At 1st - it seems like You offend me. I don't care, but if we look straight, for that You get -1.
At 2nd - I crack You up? Oh well, taking under thinking 1st argument, I might say now - Yes. You are absolutely true. You're cracked up. I am not astonished as I see where You are from. Gee.
At 3rd - I know exactly, that if we are to online gaming, than to keep everything at level, all the players must have the exact same version of the game (engine or else). This is absolutely clear. But my suggestion was from the CUSTOMER point of view. It is all about rules and conditions. And the client law gives me opportunity to complain about changes I DO NOT decide to get. The best example, let's take Microsoft and their software. I know exactly what I am buying - by the time I make decision to fetch software. Later on, manu updates may come. But it is up to the CLIENT to install it or not. So Microsoft does not force me in this issue to install it and accept the changes. I may do it, but it is up to me to decide. Otherwise, I will be using "old" version of software, which may be quite ok with me. And this was what I was about due to the EULA. Of course, I accept thousands of things like not using 3rd party programs, not sharing my password and so on.
But the client right is just another one. Despite of the subject we write about - make the updates, for example, which are beneficial for a group of ANET buddys, despite of all-around-the-world players, who may mostly complain about it? And as You are cracked up - the last sentence is an overall issue, not concerning THIS subject.
At 4th - what limitations? Quite many of them. I suggest YOU read the forum, in the wide way. Then we can talk. Or maybe You're also blind?
And 5th - get the "shut up" enchantment to Your family. It is more propper place for it than here on this very forum. More You can read on wiki corresponding to calling names and offending someone. Education and once more - education.
Finishing the message, happy Christmas, greet father and pigeons.

Cracking me up means nothing more than you made my day. And to say that I am "cracked up" because I come from the Netherlands is first of all racism, and secondly pretty stupid and oblivious. Legal drugs don't lead to a country full of junkies and addicts. They are giving us the choice and right to do with and to put in our bodies what we want. Countries where it is illegal show more criminalism because of drugs and show more problems. When you forbid something, they do it sneaky, rob stores to get money, or whatever. Education? Meh, I must say I understand english and write it alot better than you do. Also, how did I offend you? How? By saying shut up? Well sorry, get a grip. And you know what brings the negative view of Guild Wars? People who like the game don't complain. My advice was to think before you post, obviously, you didn't. You didn't even get the "crack me up" part. Hilarious, and I'm the one who should follow education.

Acquired, weighed, measured, deliberated and found WANTING
Before I parse all the constructs from my 1st addition here forward, I can see and fully preceive, the school of management which catagorizes things aptly here. Wet blanket, sniper, bulldozer, and I am sure I do not have to go on about the appearance of the strategies deployed.
Summarily excusing a logical reference may work in someone's reality but does not change the facts One iota. That stated is absolutely correct just as I investigate and analyze all endeavors to the absolute. To say you do not believe is your opinion pronounced aiming at the mistaken belief there is some addition or removal of credence.
Assuming that someone calls you a fangurl when it is not explicitly stated is in fact twisting the discussion somewhat and digressing from the facts, perhaps hoping that the thread will be premptorily closed.
Now to get us back on track,... I thank you or your ideas as far as I have read, but am at 4.4xp on this character alone, see nothing here that solves the situation or is correct.
Now the point is the lack of consistency as far as I have tried it and a few others I have encouraged to try things and request of the publishers/develpers to concentrate on the mechnics of the game rather than over policing of it for the areanet/ncsoft hidden agendas items.
Now let me examine what we have here and return forthwith with the specifics and clarification as, if I understand your intent correctly, you would like more details or explicitness, as well as the logical foundation for my concerns.
(It is all well and good that someone enjoys their favorite specific elements of the game but to imagine that this limited experience is referential, is to in fact obviously be counter productive to the great many that do have valid concerns and opinions. The thrust or interests of one are not the thrusts and interests of another which goes well without saying for the experiential/empirical understanding. So on a word of caution, let us speak of things we have direct experience with, and if offering advice or consultations, then a significant measure of this specific experience is tantamount with having a valid say in it.

Let's finish this completly unneeded argument.
What I wrote was - as You have just written - to show Your point.
1) about Netherlands - get a grip. Just alike Yours to shut up.
2) Racism - well, I do not either think nor written, that I do not accept it or I am opposite to it. So educate mate, as I guess by observing words and reactions, You have no clue at all about definition, which You have so gladly taken into the message body. What I wrote, was a little word-play with paraphrases.
Anyway - there is no sence at all to continue messages between two of us on this forum. This goes nowhere - dead horse as people used to say here.
So if You want to add anything - please do it by private message system.
All the rest - Merry X-mas

All part of the logical "proof" for the need to implement these suggestions in a rsvp
At a cursory glance it thus far seems that those who are in favor of this petition have valid thoughts on the matter and are fully expressed, those with the negative responses are as void as merely saying buy NF if you want it or brow beating others with misinterpretations and erroneous conclusions and at length.
anet/ncsoft can and will do what they want but from the paying/playing public it seems reasonable to be as flexible as possible and provide a general ascension to the upgrades. It do not need to be convinced that I am being treated royally or spoiled, this is not the case. As a source of entertainment and vying for my hard earned dollars, businesses do what they do and the decisions either dictate success or doom a product. Also having extensive experience understanding what is good entertainment value
Most of your know what is happeneing here and in support of the contention that it needs remedy will eschew the negative and near punitive improprieties. Most of you are contributing wonderfully creative innovations that really need proper credit given, especially in trying to support and breath fresh life into a game that has been great.
We should all be aware of the possibilities that occassionally others will derive some delight, or be following an agenda, in reducing the validity of the contributions made. While entitled to opinions I would coach "ignore the man (people) behind the curtain" until something of substance and logical validity is made. Most of the arguements against seem excessively negative, without foundation or are totally wrong while being presented as fact.
1) Would it seem far fetched to have a series of quests that players undertake to enhance their skills, applicable to all 3 (or more) versions, which allows them the insignia setting capacity. This is just a single possibility in the "development" of the game although it seems so counter to the overly restrictive lvl cap implemented to make the game "manageable". (How many cries have we heard for some sort of progressive system where the charcater lvls may increase even if at extreme xp lvls (very slowly), just as long as there is more of a reason for personal growth).
The game is in serious danger of becoming stale and mechanical, this from a reasonable vantage point. With true phsyx knocking at the door, there are a lot of distractions to the paying/playing public which are just about to be released. There will always be the hardcore/single genre game players steadfastly locked into their worlds, but I am this close to investigating WOW, as well as a good many other games poised to garner significant attention away from older games.
2) Perhaps this is more of an adult audience or the more intelligent group of gamers, those that play GW, but this next year will surely crown several new champions and raise the status of those games that are truly savvy. Restrictiveness is not cool. Imagination is development. Either chuck the dev team or lift the restrictions off them. A bit of a radical suggestion but connotes the import of upping the game.
3) they need to fix this as well, ...
Now specifically in reference to those that need to correct other people,... "NO" some of the identical scrolls do not stack on each other. They have been passed back and forth between characters and in all 3 versions of GW. There were several other things as well but since inventory space is so restrictive, even with 9 characters on one account alone [now offering their inventory support], ( I also have 9 accounts between me and mine) so I only kept 1 item, and in case it needs to be said again to those of less knowledge and experience, I STILL HAVE ITEMS IN INVENTORIES THAT DO NOT STACK. On a happy note I thank you for you participation and opinion.
4) Inconsistencies abound,....
As far as the weapons being gelded all I can say is that is great for those that were not effected, I do not imagine it would be with the greens so much but could be wrong there. I have blues, purples and golds that were better than the greens (and before anyone thinks that isn't possible lol, it is) but no longer provide the benefits of the attributes they are supposed to be imbued with. Plain and Simple, so nothing valid has been offered up to counter this, so it is still a serious enough issue that anet/ncsoft can just destroy the properties of a favored/saved weapon when ever they feel like it. They must stop messing up the game with this restrictive over management poor patches. There would be very little reason to continue if my efforts exerted over the course of 19 months suddenly are wasted. Many peoples, if they do not appreciate/want the "evolution" being provided by the game's makers (not revolutionary or developmental), will very quickly turn to the revolutionary and less restrictive outlets and entertainment.
As you all might be able to determine here my interests are in boolstering the games franchise's viability over the long run, not to inflict my own personal brand of logic or domineering rhetoric, or nay saying the thoughts and ideas of others. Positiveness is the word of the day.
Next,...
5) Inconsitencies (re:nerfing/removal)
Has anyone ever been responsible for the personal development of another human being, (perhaps children is a perfect example)? You do not give them anything with the intent on taking it away which has clearly been the case here. The game makers offer up something then take it away, what would anyone do? Go to any of the treasure foraging locales and start up a conversation,.. lol.
But specifically, as promised, I spent 5 solid months watching the dirty little tricks being deployed over the course of that time... why do dwarves run at 200% rate of speed without an enchantment on? Why are there ahrdly any chests? LOL.
Someone's suggestion (opinion) - I proved all the rumors and superstitions about "farming" wrong. "4/5 people yield the best drop rates", "don't bring any greens with you", "dont use hench", "dont bring an ID kit", "kill the boss 1st/last", lol it goes on and on. Now there does exist a statisitcal coorelation for some situations, but it is miniscule, at least in the trials executed over that time and there have been many.
They have also taken out most of the chests just about everywhere, although there are some locations that have a reasonable amount. Reasonable being what was introduced and actually better than this never having any anywhere lol. (yes, someone can jump on the slight exaggeration if they must lol)
They need to put back more chests. Rememer a free market is just that, and if you subscribe to Keynesian economics can quickly draw the structures and outcomes yourself in the benefit of this point.
6) Advancing another suggestion on a topic already brought forward
Ok what is "taste is a matter of preference" offering up here? Please try and be positive. Plain and simple they are girly dresses that they outfit monks in, some are happy with it some are not, but it really would not be such a burden to have a contest to allow the population to offer up ideas. There are a million ideas that could be very fun and exciting, perhaps a quest to allow the capabilities to alter/design your own garb. Anyway creativity is developmental lets turn up the game a notch.
With respect to the making of money, the point was rhetorical and believe everyone understands that but again I am seriously questioning the motives of those that are being so negative, so critical without any arguement or logical point. Someone mentioned "free upgrade" lol if that isn't someone that has a vested interest in protecting anet/ncsoft at all costs either for their "work" here or otherwise, then perhaps they might understand more if they reread the thread and remember we are progressing the line of suggestions to the vendors not picking apart peoples ideas, well most of us anyway. The thing is that we differ in that we are offering constructive ideas not trying to dissuade others or negating other peoples offerings. If we examine eactly what was being said there is nothing in there that is good and right it is not even an opinion but specifcally aimed at demonstratively demeaning others.
7) The $ making is too obvious, and many other online MMO games offer the same or better, coupled with the restricitveness of GW and nerfing out so, so many things. The whole theme of over management adds tremendous negative light to the few things that are positive now since people are getting very, very familiar with the whole franchise and the same old game play. I've done quests why continue investing a significant portion of my free time if I am not getting much new from it? Time to get revolutionary with the game development.
LOL we seem to be hearing a lot of anet, anet, anet going on and on...... These notes are to help something I (we) have invested our time in, purchased under the understanding that they provide free online time and fix things that are broken. Since the move to the "new" data center a year ago I have never seen so many disconnects, just a couple of bugs have been outlined above, and the game providers keeps turing down things I had come to specifically enjoy.
As for the purchasing of intertainment packages, I will buy what I buy and it is usually after some reasonable consideration. Now while those of less experience in the economics of personal management may persist without re-examining the value and entertainment worth on a conscious level it is happening and could possibly result in a sudden transition in the acceptability of GW.
Hope this helps

Please
I think this is a good solid idea/petition. Could those of you that got a little off topic pls move your posts to a more propriate area or delete them?
Thank you
P.S. I just remembered that some detail concerning further inconsistencies was required on salvaging.
Expert salvaging with the "new salvaging system" will often enough not prompt you that you are about to turn an object into salvageable materials only, but just do it. The intent is to try and extract an upgrade from an item but does not work like it is supposed to. I have lost enough things this way. If you have not done this you may come across it sometime and goes to show how some items (weapons) do not sustain their attributes completely for the whole of GW - inconsistencies. (oh yeah for those that want to know - lvl 3 wisdom and chest guy)
Some of these requests, ideas, petitons,... are more concisely leveled at the implication of congruencies that should be maintained. That is to say, in the absence of specific information to the contrary, it would be logical and rightly assumed that the "system" would be the same across all version of the game espcially considering the character crossover. Armor, weapons, items (scrolls) fall into this catagory.

I have awesome 15k glads armor for my female tank (not sure if anyone remembers what that looks like anymore o.O) and I don't want to have to buy another set of armor just to load it up with knights insignia...

I agree on this, because in my opinion, 15k armour from prophecies looks way better, but doesn't have the insignias or effects, what ever you want to call it, I want.
So yeah, I would love to have this.

I think they should allow people who haven't bought Nightfall but have prophecies and factions to be able to apply insignias to armor. It's a balance issue there. People who buy Nightfall have an advantage over people who haven't and it's not fair to gameplay.

How is it a balance issue? You can get all the status on the armor, the insignias provide the same status like the armor provided in Prophecies. With some exceptions being: Beastmaster's, Anchorite's, Undertaker's, Artificer's, Prodigy's and Prismatic. Look them up and you'll see that you aren't really missing something.

Blaze may I specifically ask you???
I think we can all agree so far that generally there is more than an overwhelming need to remedy the imbalance of nightfall armor capabilities over the other 2 versions of the game.
I would ask again that if someone can not articulate the concepts here or comprehend the semantics, but pounces on the slightest deviation in the strictest interpretations of the denotation, they should excuse themselves or ask for assistance not badger allthe participants. Someone that is not really adding anything to the conversation or ideas but merely asking "why",... "why"..., "why,...", either trying to be funny or imagining themselves as the Pipe at the Gates of Dawn.
This is not helpful. You might as well be asking 'why did you say it that way?' 'Why did you use those words'.
Balance clearly means 'similarly' here, equalizing and has been used correctly.
You are wrong as has been your proclavity throughout this thread, you can not get the same. Maybe you are actually playing another game or misinterpret the words labelling the items as well. Let's check this out....

Dear Njaiguni Blaze
Could you stop please?
You seem to be quite remiss in your facts and judging from the syntax, badgering others.

I'm not trying to badger anyone (whatever that means... Maybe a bit simplified english? English is not everyone's first language here). I'm just wondering why people want something that's available in another game. Because that's what it really is.

I don't really care either way with this.
I would rather have weapon inscriptions on Tyrian and Canthan Weapons. I have an FDS which needs one.
