It could work, if we take obsidian - a material which can make a blade 5 times sharper then steel rap your sword in it via magic and all of a sudden you do more damage. There are many rocks with properties that could be useful for a weapon and as all the other elements have a conjure skill it is a little strange that earth does not.

I think Stoneflesh Aura takes conjure Earths place Since it does the opposite of the others(by reducing damage by a set amount) however it does'ent require an earth weapon.

I went looking for Conjure Earth just the other day for a build i thought of and was greatly dissapointed to find it didn't exist. I agree it should be in the game.

Fire and cold dosent make sence as well. You have to hold your weapon, touching enemy for some time before cold or fire begin to take effect. You hit something with hot-glowing metal and itll do physical damage only cause heat energy wouldnt have time to transfer over to target.Only thing that could really do some damage is electrical dicharge but... its imposable to put it on a sword, doh.

If a weapon is hot enough it will do some damage if you cut someone with it, like burning the skin to crisp. And how fast do you hit someone? I am sure the heat have time to transfer unless your blade is in contact with them for just a nanosecond or something.
Try to turn up the heat in the oven and put your hand on bars or whatever and pull your hand out real quick and i am sure you got some heat transferred to your hand and it will hurt.
Same goes for cold, if it is cold enough it will freeze down the tissue and it will hurt like hell when the tissue is warming up.

The cool thing about fantasy is it doesn't have to make sense.
Kinda like the fact that you can stand under your own meteor shower without taking a hit. Meteor falling from the sky hurts.. no matter who or what made them fall.

It hurts, every 3 seconds for balance issues. A-net tries to have a very logic game were everything has an explination.
Oh yeah someone posted about obsidian, thats some expensive stuff so why fight with it when u can sell it? And if you could summon obsidian, why not create a storm of small obsidian shards, that would be effective imho

Your still having the cosmos fly out of your ass. I really dont see how Conjure Earth would be a problem because of "logic".

That could work. Obsidian/crystal is generally associated with armor ignoring damage, so we could have a little short-term conjure earth of sorts.
Conjure Obsidian*
Elite Enchantment Spell. For 5..17 seconds, while you are wielding an earth damage weapon, your attacks ignore armor. This Spell causes Exhaustion.
Cost: 10 Cast: 1 Recharge: 30
(Numbers subject to actual balancing.)
Not quite like the other conjures, but certainly useful.

Actually the Conjure X spells are pretty good skills for melee players and rangers.
|
You have 5 stages when you start Guild Wars
1 Wammo (everyone starts like this)
2 W/E (this is when the wammo starts to realize how "Great" the conjures are)
3 Mo/E (healing + conjures!! z0mg!
4 Mo/W (healing + weps z0mgcopter)
5 W/R (more weps + pets z0mgr0flcopt0rs)

Cunjure Earth would be very nice, but would add too much dmg to a defencive line of magic.
As for those that argue about the logic of it, what exactly is coming out of an earth wand/staff? Large rocks?
If you want some logic how about this, E=MC2, therefore elementalist have the power to pull energy out of mass, thereby creating a energy attack out of any solid object - Obsidian Flame anyone?
One workable option for a conjure earth might be to make your attacks unblockable, since there is no evade anymore a weapon with an extreme mass should be able to penatrate any attempt at blocking.

Hmmm... OK, my feedback.
In a game, logic does not count. If anybody would like to tell me that summoning meteors from the sky to kill Mergoyles is logical, you're giving me a great laugh. I sure need one right now, homework is annoying me immensely.
About the thing that Earth magic is for defense, then:
Why doesn't Conjure Flame have AOE damage?
Why doesn't Conjure Frost slow the enemy down?
Why doesn't Conjure Lightning have 25% armor penetration?
And someone please tell me that the following Earth spells were created for defense, to give me another good laugh.
[skill]Shockwave[/skill]
[skill]Obsidian Flame[/skill]
[skill]Sandstorm[/skill]
