DoA: Nerf needed, NOW
Hello!
There’s a critical subject I want to discuss.
!! The Domain Of Anguish Farming !!
What is the ‘problem’ there?
Well, that part is considered as being the elite part of Nightfall, alright?
So why is it possible to farm ALL of the areas there dual or solo? No, this isn’t my problem.
My problem is more:
1) City of Torc’qua
Team: SB Tank (monk) + Famine Ranger
DROPS: Around 3-8 Margonite Gemstones per hour/player
= Around 5-10k/hour (per player) + Loot
2) Stygian Veil
Team: Solo Trapper (ranger)
DROPS: Around 3-10 Stygian Gemstones
= Around 3-8k/hour + Loot
3) Ravenheart Gloom
Team: E/A Gloom Farmer
DROPS: Around 2-8 Torment Gemstones per hour
= Around 15-60k/hour + Loot
4) The Foundry of Failed Creations
Team: SB Tank (monk) + Famine Ranger
DROPS: Around 1-4 Titan Gemstones per hour/player
= Around 50-200k/hour (per player) + Loot
1 and 2:
No comment on that ones, except the fact that you can farm those ‘Elite???’ areas solo or dual.
3 and 4:
The problematic part!
OMG, farming that way nets players around 15k up to 200k per hour !!
Having read all the tings above here, you should say:
‘Idiot, farm it too and just shut up!’
Fortunately, some players will also not be please with this fait…
The consequences of this farming:
Farming that way for 1week will net around 500-2000k easily, if you got time.
That makes:
- Obsidian armor and expensive weapons accessible to a lot more players. Being ‘cheapened’ it has no ‘status’ anymore for players that have farmed weeks, even months in order to get it.
- It’s the same for every object that you can buy in the game (keys, unidentified golds, …). People can buy it now without troubles and Titles are that way cheapened.
I would like replies plz, maybe a reply from one of the Game Masters that could be cool

I got my tormented shield from this, they're very hard to get the hang of. I think your just crying because you can't do it.
But anyways once they nerf these, people will find other ways to farm it. No matter what they nerf, there will always been other ways

If people start to farm more, the prices will automaticly drop...
Imo nothing should be soloable... (not even your secret little place, which makes equal or more (with some luck -- ask Thule) than 3 of the DoA areas)
Don't be jealous because there are better places to farm Drew (or "you just don't have any luck any longer") xD
btw stuntharley... Drew is there with his monk, so he actually can do it...
Have to agree though... people will always find different ways

Now when you say nerf it, do just mean nerf the drops?

ZOMG nerf UW too! Peepz farm it 4 ectos to git rich!!!11!!!
Seriously, there is no problem here. Money is meaningless in GW, FoW hasn't had any status for a while now. In fact, it's in GW's 'grind-free' philosophy for people to be able to get stuff easily, farming for valuables and whatnot. It's a good thing, the casual player now has pretty weapons and armours easily within his grasp, and would even have money to outfit several characters with good stuff so they don't have to play the same mending wammo all day...
Unless you want to have 100k Sup Vigors or 11^50 Fellblades again...
For the really rich elite, there's always unconditional Crystallines or crap like that to go after.
So... what's the problem?
Every jonny-wammo can have the same armour or weapons as you?
Tough sh*t, dude.

The price of anything should and will drop after some time.
Only items you can get once, like collector minipets, should have fished high prices.

The problem with farming these gemstones - if and when they start to be really heavily farmed, there will be a surplus of supply, and the prices will plummet (moreso than they have already). A set right now costs ~100k, about 80k of which is for the Titan gemstone if I'm current on my prices. If that falls anymore, well, people will stop hardcore farming the gemstones. It's selfregulating.
As for your fears about this kind of massive farming cheapening everything in the game - you forget that, for every 200k a farmer makes off of gemstones, someone else had to make 200k just by normal farming, which takes much longer and puts a cap on the maximum wealth going into the game. Gemstone farming doesn't create wealth, it just allows you to obtain it from others who have done so. Therefore, even if someone makes a million gold a week doing this kind of farming, prices for other items will not drop, as he hasn't actually created any wealth; he's just relocated it to himself from other players.

I'd rather that DoA be more fun and less frustrating to play with a full team.
You know, mobs of 8 from a set of a professions that use real skill builds picked from a random pool and everyone has a res sig. No foe is over level 24.
I guess the OP would be happy with that because it reduces farmability. I don't mind farmers myself, but it's frustrating to not be able to join a group and just play through the quests. Even moreso when the party gets wiped because a mob of 15 L28 monsters looked at you funny. :S
Wishful thinking I guess.

Hard Mode promises to introduce that sort of thing.
But, do I really want to see DoA on Hard Mode?

I don't even really see a problem with the prices plummeting. I think that 100k + e is too much for a gem set anyway.
Where there's monsters, there's a way to farm. They thought they nerfed 55 UW farming by putting in Dying Nightmares. Urrr. Wrong. People have been farming since day 1, it's not going to change.
And actually completing DoA is insanely hard. There are very few good groups out there that have the skill (and time) to complete all four areas. Farming allows those of us with little time to acquire gems and get our pretty torment weapons. Or a coffer. Seriously, Razah isn't worth the price of a gem set. Pay 100k for a rit hero? No thanks, I'd rather farm for him.
My two cents.

If someone is smart enough to solo an Elite Mission let them
dont complain that they are "making expensive items less"
They have the same, skill and everything you and other people do and did just they found a quicker way to do it
Sure it may have lessed the value a little, but they are still items for players of higher calibers than the rest
DOA farmers have plenty of skill, not everyone can Solo or Dual it

How long have you been playing Guild Wars? Nothing has value anymore, and titles, please don't get me started.

And that part of the post clearly shows you have no idea how the ingame economy works. Gems have no inherient value (ie they aren't sold to the merchant for 100k). They only have trader value between people. They don't actually generate any real cash flow. They merely transfer money from one player to another when they are sold. Thus it does not create inflation. Also, if these areas are overfarmed enough, then those gems prices will drop to almost nothing and it won't be worth the effort anymore.

Since these "unbalanced" farm builds have come to public prominence gem prices have dropped rapidly and the only thing affected are the price of tormented weapons and Razah. And other than the Stygian farm build they are not easy to do.
Make DoA any harder it will be impossible to complete to get to Mallyx.

Quite frankly I expected this to be a post whinning about how you couldn't do DoA so it needed to be made easier.
What I see instead is "QQ, I couldn't do a difficult farm so lets nerf it for others so they can't make money". ANET has already ruined almost every farm spot in the game, let's not ruin yet another that actually takes a modicum of skill. And good luck making 2000K in a week, titan gems don't exactly drop off every other monster you know.
