I believe you missed the point entirely.
People don't need Crystalline Swords, they can grab Long Swords.
People don't need Ascended Armor, they can grab the non-Ascended variants.
People don't need gold weapons, they can grab a max blue instead.
GW is a game that, though everything in a field ends equal and balanced, there are many variations to account for personal taste. The bear's Brutal Mauling directly contradicts that, and keeps many people from grabbing the pet that they would really, really like.
Or would you feel better knowing that your weapon-of-choice suddenly takes a DPS hit in return for an extra ability that does absolutely nothing?

could give all pets the skill, or do a mass replace of skill/pet
you could also update the skill so its the same as a normal attack

The main problem with Brutal Mauling is that is causes the bear to pause, stand up, use brutal mauling (which does nothing extra) then go back to attacking.
As well, I happen to know that you can interupt Brutal Mauling, causing a large gap in the bear's DPS.
I want Fuzy Wuzy (my warrior's bear) to have the same DPS as the other pets!

Tey pu t there, but forgot about romoving it.
It's a vestigial skill. It's like having not working legs in a snake.

Brutal Mauling has a description in other languages (Spanish, for example) describing how it causes bleeding. Originally, it is supposed, it had this special attack. Presumably it was too powerful, or special abilities on pets were removed for some reason, but they left the blank skill there, taking up space and killing the pet's usefulness.
A more correct statement might be "ANet took away brutal mauling for who-knows-what reasons, and forgot to clean up their mess. They should finish it."

Exactly. In spanis and French description it sas it causes 5 seconds of bleeding.
They removed that effect so PreAscalon noobs don't die so easily fighting them.
And they seem to forgot about it.
The have also Spellbreaker in PreAscalon. Should they keep it too in Shiverpeaks?
Vestigial, should be removed. And make Pet Attacks trigger anthems.

Brutal mauling has been around since the beginning, and while it is sad that has become really obslete I would hate to see it go, why not tweak it instead, bring back the bleeding, or something to make it more effective, bring back the bleeding or something.

Then people will start whining about how spiders should inflict poison, or rats causing disease. You have to see the slippery slope if you don't want to fall down it.

i still say keep brutal mauling, just increase the attack speed and dmg to make it equal to other pets, i do think the bears are one of the coolest pets.

Either remove it or buff it. It's stupid. A bear wastes a few seconds charging this thing up just to do even less damage than he would in ONE normal attack.

/signed for the removal of Brutal Mauling. I agree that all pets should be on an equal playing field with exceptions for damage type (piercing, slashing, etc.) and evolutions. (Hearty, Dire, Elder, etc.)

/signed again, just to remind the devs that this is still an issue, and probably a fairly quick fix that could be rolled out with another group of larger updates.
I don't mind if Anet wants to create pet-specific skills sometime down the road... but until they do, this skill should be removed so rangers can actually justify bringing along a bear.

My feeling is that A-Net stopped working on an idea that would make each pet type possess a unique ability. Brutal Mauling is a vestigial organ left over from that aborted evolutionary branch.
Time to remove the appendix. /signed
