I think the OP didn't mean to remove henchies from the game, but to have the option of not using them in a party in favour of heroes.

What may be an option though, is the ability to customise henchies to a certain degree. What makes heroes better than henchies is the fact you can buy them runes and insignia and give them great builds.

However, heroes are full-time employees, whereas henchies are still outsource. So perhaps the customisation could be limited to skills/build customisation to suit your particular need.

I originally thought that this would be harder for people without heroes who haven't had the experience in customising for AI; but then I decided they would do what we all did and adjust their own builds or a friend's build to suit.

There's already a compromise in place. People who want to PUG can STILL PUG. People who dont PUG won't PUG with you anyway. I really dont understand why people want to dictate how others play so much....

Its a matter of expectations. GW is supposed to be a game where newbies can expec to be able to jump in with other players and join in. When 50+% of the game will not be newbies (idiocy is a permanent condition in most casesI'm afraid tho) in GW:EN nobody would want to pug with the people who spam flare on backfire when they're just learning how to play. That means it'll be harder and harder for new players to find a pug.

But there is 0 reason for having only 3 heros in older parts of the game.

Hmm, that would be great to finally be able to do FoW alone, so since it seems they are not going to allow henchies inside elite areas...

During free FoW/UW weekend, i took only my 3 heroes (cuz Champion said that henchies are not ascended ) into FoW and (to my surprise) wiped out quite a number of mobs (until some partol found Rastigen), so: 1) yes, heroes are "ascended" 2) imagine, what could be achieved with 7 well built heroes

I only play with 3 heros and hench anyway (unless a guildy/freind asks for help). Would just be nicer to play with all heros so i can customise, and would love to try doing the elite areas with heros since it would probably be beter than pugs anyway.

Heroes can become Weh no Suh, Cleanse the Light Temple and you don't know if they Ascend in Crystal Desert, since they can enter the three tests, and you can't go with them in the trial. Since you can't be with them 24/7 (you are only with 3 at the same time) they can actually be Ascended.
You could say also that they can enter FoW... but the Ascalon heroes (Mhenly, Cynn and the others) are ascended and infused too but they can't get in...

Hm...

/signed 1,000 times over!!

We should have the OPTION to have an all hero party.

Even with that option - and even though I'd LOVE that -- I'd still PUG most of the time (more than not).

There is absolutely no good reason to not allow all Hero parties. Those who do not wanna let horrible PUG players leech off of them are not gonna take them into the party because of the 3 Hero limit anyhow . Rather, they will just fill the rest of the party out with Henchmen.

Therefore, all the 3 Hero limit actually accomplishes is needlessly frustrating players by forcing them to use sub-par Henchmen (who are still way better than the average PUG player hence would still always be chosen over the PUG player) instead of Heroes that they've earned and should be able to use whenever they want.

Looks like a thread res people can't complain about. With all the changes that have happened - and especially, with hard mode on the way - it'll be interesting to see if anyone has changed their opinion.

I like the idea of 7 in older chapters, 3 in newest chapter. It encourages teamwork in the newer chapters where people are easy to come by, while making th older chapters doable even if there is no one else around.

I have to agree that those who don't PUG aren't going to, regardless of what the limit is.

Of course, if they actually gave henchmen decent builds (even the hard mode ones suck) then we wouldn't need this as much as we do. Besides which, as time goes on GW's player population is only going to dwindle which will mean that in a lot of places Heroes/hench will be the ONLY way to get a party.
