I love dungeon type areas, really fun to explore with random big challenges, and loot to be found.

I wish GW had an "epic" quest. One that would take more than just a few hours to finish. One that would take days. I like the idea of levels and "outposts" to stop at. i would put an outpost after every 5 levels instead of every level. Make the dungeon like 40 levels deep or more and get some type of Unique reward for completing...instead of a green maybe you would get 10 ectos or a bunch of platinum or some special dye for your armor, something really unique.
The underworld and FoW are kinda epic but takes waaaaay too much time to try and finish in one setting. With no way of saving you have to start over each time. With Wife and jobs and life, its hard to sit down at the comp for 5 hours a stretch to clear these areas. So the Outposts are a VERY good idea imho

ideas for catacombs
Why dont they just set it up like dragons lair, only not as hard and maybe a chest at the end of each lvl. that way we could take all those lvl 9/8/7 chariters in there?

I'm in Cantha for the long haul now. I wont be returning to Tyria unless I need to. Anyway, the only thing I liked about the cats were the Undead and you get plenty of those in Kryta.

Hello,
On April 2nd 2006 I suggested opening the catacombs in Ascalon after the tutorial. I posted my idea at Wartower.de and we talked about it long. Finally we decided to create a petition where everybody is able to support us and our idea.
A lot of players seem to like the catacombs and miss it. For sure, we all know ArenaNet is very busy working on Factions and part three. Because of this the catacombs are an excellent choice. They are already mapped so ArenaNet can just take the map from the tutorial and put the new enemies on the map.
I collected the most important and basic ideas of the people from Wartower.de:
• The catacombs are going to be opened after the tutorial.
• There are going to be several layers in the catacombs. At the beginning there are going to be enemies ofmedium strength but the more layers you complete the more difficult it gets. We thought of that because that would bring fun to highlevel-characters and characters below level 20. You just get as far as you are able to.
• You get to the next higher layer when you defeated all the enemies in the actual layer.
» Maybe instead of killing all monsters you have to solve a specific, difficult quest to get to the next layer.
» Most of the people want an outpost after each layer so you do not have to complete layers again you already successfully finished before.
• We also talked about a strong boss (level 30?) which extremely rarely drops a new green item. Maybe the boss should also be able to summon strong minions (level 20-25?).
» We also thought there could be a strong necro-boss (e.g. a Devourer level 30+, so to say a "Devourer-mother") which is able to summon little level 1-minions and use them in some ways like putrid explosion, death nova or similar stuff.
» We also talked about that the boss could maybe drop a powerful gold item instead of a green item.
• An addition or alternative to that boss could be a chest that is located in a different place every time you enter the area. This chest could also contain a green item. The randomization of the chest's location is supposed to work against professional farmes.
• A lot of the users also said they would love a Gwen-related quest that explains what happened to her.
This is just a short survey of all the ideas but I am not able to post it all here. It's simply to much!
You can read more about it, get to the official thread at wartower.de (unfortunatly not translated) and sign in to support our idea here: Petition
I really hope you like the idea and help us to make it real. One hint at the end: This all is just ideas. We will send it all to ArenaNet but there is no guarantee they will realize it.
Edited: Added new ideas and corrected some mistakes.

You know this could actually work as a sort of repeatable quest ground, which grants uncommon to rare random rewards when you complete its Quests. They should all be rather hard quests at that and every layer should have its own set of difficult quests. It should have various and I do mean various Layers Im aiming towards 10 floors below with increasing difficulty in Quests and with better rewards. Drops here shouldn't be that good, meaning the best "drops" come from the Quests rewards. The lower you go the more chances the rewards include Green items... just my suggestion on how it could work. Furthermore it could do an excellent Gold Sink as youd have to pay a fee perhaps to go inside the Catacombs...

Yes me too, Id love some "Epic" Quests with some of the above suggestions. Except they should have rewards in every layer just better ones deeper. However once you get out you cant map to the Outposts. In other words if you come out you have to start at base 1 again. When you complete the final layer perhaps you can get some of the rewards you mentioned above. It should also have (deeper) special catacombs chest that have uncommon to rare rewards but which keys cannot bought rather obtained in Quests.

I have the nasty feeling that if they do open Catacombs in post, its gong to be filled with a high density of repetitive mobs, and have a bunch of people going LFG CATACOMBS FARMING GROUP 4/5 NEED BONDER!@@!@!!!!!! ala SF, TopK etc.
Catacombs was a beautiful place to explore, if it turns into a farmfest I'd be extremely disappointed.

/signed...if they have more interesting, unique, and creative quests then kill this mob and come back to me, or protect me this or fetch me that. More interacting with the enviroment would be cool. And I'm not a fan of more "levels" like ToPK. Id prefer it to be more like UW/FoW.

The only reason that doesn't happen in the tombs is thanks to the (postively rigged!) stance the enemies in it have.
What i'd find funny would be finding Restless Corpses (lvl1) randomly down there. With the odd 1 having powerful monsters that appear once you kill it (with good drops obviously). You know the sorts. Mesmers scattered around specifically to completely annihilate enchantments (to eliminate bonders and bring at least some skill back to PvE), lets face it with all the enchantment hate around these days it wouldn't be difficult to achieve.
The last group i was monking i made them take an interrupt mesmer instead of a bonder because i coudn't be arsed to be bored to death 1 second then mopping up after a massive spike onto 1 target the next. You all know i mean, the Shatter Enchantments/Onslaught of deadly spells sorta thing.

I made a suggestion about this on the guild-hall forums, but it died. Though afterward I would stand at the entrance of the Catacombs in Post-Searing saying Reopen the Catacombs! XD

Oh Yeah!
-BTW there is a ranger spirit that makes maintainables take twice as much energy that would crush 55ing
-I think an outpost every level would be good
-I would love to see more, how would u say this, oh yeah, culture.
Maybe some low lvl undead that went around harvesting bones or something guarded by soldeirs, probably mainly rangers, necros, and warriors
-I hate typing on a laptop keyboard
-any questions?
PS-Do this ANet plz plz plz
Edit: Definitely yes to Nachdenki's post #110, plz add this to petition
Edit:
"Ruins of the Catacombs"-le some light in in the first few levels, you should be able to see the sky
maybe the searing broke through the first level and opened up more caverns that they never knew existed
-I don't speak German
