I have 10 characters and under no circumstances will i complete each protector title track in each campaign to access HM.
As previously mentioned this creates a grind that isnt needed and a good majority of players will not want.

One thing that bugs me about your op, is that you said that HM is being done by novice players that shouldnt be doing it. But who are you to be saying who should and shouldnt be able to play it. Thats like telling me i shouldnt play any of my other games on hardest difficulty right from the get go. Its been my experience in the past with games and gamers that the harder the game the faster i learn things. I wouldnt leave a BF2/BF2142 server because all the players are better or more experienced than me, no ill stick around, learn from what they are doing and from what im doing wrong. Why cant people do the same for GW?

Sorry, freekedoutfish but I disagree entirely. Having taken my main toon (ele) through all three campaigns and got prot on all of them the first point about not knowing the missions is moot. Anyone with a prot title and access to hard mode already has experience of the missions.

Professions, yes a different matter I would agree. The assumption that anyone may not be able to play a lvl 20 toon of a different profession through HM is a flawed one. For a start if that toon was rolled in, or has been to Elona they will have heroes and will have had to set them up. My necro is Elonian, but I got a bit tired of NF when I got her past Vabbi, so I decided to go to Tyria, run to SC and do the desert missions then onwards so I could cap the Prohecies only elites (mainly Spiteful Spirit). Yet should I be denied the chance to play her in HM just because I haven't trollied through all the missions in Tyria? That doesn't make me lazy, it means I have no desire to sit there fwapping low level monsters for 2/3 of the game just to be able to fwap bigger monsters later on.

As someone pointed out, it's time intensive. I play the game to get away from work. And having to go through all that again as a, frankly, perfectly capable lvl 20 toon just doesn't appeal in any way whatsoever.

/not signed, no way, never. If someone doesn't care about titles and doesn't feel the need to do the bonus for every mission (especially the awful timed ones) it shouldn't have any bearing on their being able to have some fun with higher-level mobs in hard mode.

I know this thread probably doesn't need any more replies, but sometimes people's ideas amaze me.

Know how hard it is already to find a HM group? Know how not-stupid you have to be to have unlocked HM?

Essentially, so far all the HM PuGs I've gotten into are NOT idiots (for the reason above I guess). I see no point in making a prejudicial rule just to further lessen the already-nonexistant amount of idiots doing HM.

This is like that time when an ele in a HM group of mine said "show protector title or i kick". I do NOT have the title. I'm two bonuses (ice caves and dunes) short. I'm still very experienced and something tells me I've been playing GW longer than he has, and he still decides to kick me. Elitism is already a pain. It would be far worse if it was official, too.

It's not hard to get the Protector title, and this would make sure that only the people who have proven themselves (provided they have gotten no runs through missions (which I am referring specifically to Prophecies)), are able to join you in Hard Mode. Oh, did you guys know that Hard Mode is optional? You do not even have to do your missions in hard mode if you don't want to (@ all of the 'do you know how hard it is to find a group?' people).

Cue flame war.

freekedoutfish, I suggest that you stop making arguments and calling people stupid about it. Most of the people who elaborated had highly valid points.
I personally think this isn't a good idea at all. If you want my evidence, read every single /notsigned post again.

No way. I stand by that HM should have be available to characters who've completed the campaign only. Anet chose their method, i'll live with it.
