If you haven't seen the preview video for "Portal" on steam, go check it out.

It might inspire some cool stuff for Lyssa's realm.
(although there's no way you could do an infinite falling loop in Guild Wars)

I haven't read over the whole thread, but I find the idea of a randomly generated part of the realm to be a fantastic one. It would take some serious Will Wright style procedural programming, but I think if Anet managed to pull it off they could consider it a real achievement. Imagine a part of the realm that is completely different every time you enter, and not '6 blocks in different orders different' but COMPLETELY different. Maybe you enter into a chamber that always stays the same, and the outer areas are always the same, but the middle section that allows passage between the two gets generated by a random seed every time a new party enters. That way, the idea someone had of the map looking like an eye could remain in place, the pupil being the starter chamber, the iris an ever-changing labyrinth and the sclera the outer zone.

Default The Paths of Lyssa Idea

*This is a long post so brace yourselves*

-Edit-
Reading this back it seems more like an elite quest than a Realm
-End-

I think that Lyssa's realm should be made into wide corridor areas while confusing but still channel you onto a certain place. How about a you start in an area in the shape of an eye (as this seems popular) and when you start there is a repulsive afflicted creature in the centre of the eye flanked on all sides by 8 mirrors - These large mirrors could be portals to the different Paths of Lyssa - here’s my idea for each

1. Path of the Vain
After entering the mirror you find yourself in another mirrored area surrounded by amazingly beautiful women with the odd man (I know the women are a bit stereotyped but still), Each spouting compliments as you pass them, while admiring themselves in hand mirrors as a hauntingly beautiful song plays in the background. This corridor (the term is used loosely as the area should be very wide) should be populated with violent wailing spirits known as the "Imperfect" there will be the main foes in this area. As you walk down this mirrored realm "The Vain" should slowly become more horrific and the honey sweet comments should turn to acid filled insults. Once you reach the end (it shouldn’t be too long) you should see a group of the "Vain" admiring themselves in a large mirror set into the floor. You are given the option to destroy the mirror or look into it. Upon looking into the mirror you will be returned to the hall of mirrors (starting area) with an irremovable Hex called "The mark of Vanity". Upon smashing the mirror the nearby "Vain" will become hostile and attack you, while some "Imperfect" will appear to help you fight them. Once they are defeated a portal will appear in the now broken mirror, to take you back to the hall of mirrors, where upon entry the mirror leading to the path of the vain will shatter and the afflicted creature will scream in anguish and transform into less horrific form.

*Monster/Item Details*
*The Imperfect*

Split into 3 types:

The scar Bearers - The warrior class, wielding swords and battered armor they have a selection of mêlée attacks, and no special monster skills. There main aim is to provide cover for the spell casters. What skin is showing through the armor should be covered in, belive it or not, scars and other battle mementos

The aged - These should be old men and women, aged to an almost impossible state with forced movements to show this. They will be the monk class, normal equipment but should have 2 monster skills, "wisdom" which increased the targets Energy regen and "Fragility" which inflicts weakness on foes - They could have a permanent Weakness effect on them perhaps.

The Diseased - Necromancers will all the disease skills that come with that. Normal equipment and possibly a permanent enchantment that inflicts Disease on all Mêlée attackers

The Imperfect have no special drops as they are mainly "good" characters

*The Vain*

The conceited - Taking the form of Armorless Elementalists (I know its kind of sexist) they slowly turn into snake women (unlike naga though), they should be elementalists in class and use water spells from that class, the elite has to be mirror of Ice

The arrogant - What you all wanted, Mesmers - Taking the role of MALE Mesmers (just to balance things) in there flashiest clothes, as you move closer to the end the cloths would lose colour and become shabbier. They should have the "upstage" monster skill that stops other Mesmers in the area, including allies, from casting any of the next 1-3 (?) spells they cast; this can be beaten with another upstage of course

The Vain - Possibly Female Paragons (ohhhh new class), they should slowly turn into Siren Like creatures towards the end. There skill set should contain a lot of shouts and songs, and possibly with a (really annoying) "Alluring Song" which will make all foes in the range stop attacking and face them

*Vain Items*
The vain should all carry off-hand items in the shape of hand mirrors, perhaps these could be dropped as equitable items or collector items to be traded in at the end.

*Boss - Heart of Vanity*
A Female Paragon equip with a Sword, should emerge from the broken mirror at the end. Should have normal paragon armor but with a medusa like head, carries a shield called the "heart of Vanity" that has lengthens enchantments on yourself (is there nothing more vain?) - The vital boss to open the portal back to the hall of mirrors

*Items Dropped*
Usual junk such as scrolls and mirrors

Green Item - The heart of Vanity, an elaborately carved mirror shield that constantly glimmers, even without light

-------------------------And that’s the 1st corridor---------------------
I may be putting too much thought into this but I’ve always wanted to design a world lol. Ill prob post soon listing my other ideas for the other 7 corridors - Path of the Judgeful, Path of Greed, Path of the Muse, Path of the Silent, Path of Deception, Path of Truth and finally Path of Lyssa.

perhaps after all of this there should be an outpost where you can trade in your mirrors and other collectors items and maybe get some new armor - It would have to be very mirrored thou...I like mirrors, you'd never guess

possibly back soon with more ideas - Thanks if you have read all of this and sorry for using the word should so much....

I just realised I forgot to put what the "Mark of Vanity" (the penalty fo lookininto the mirror) is:

*Mark of Vanity*
Iremovable hex that makes abilities you cast 20% facter when targetign yourself but 50% longer if targeting another ally

-Edit-
Another Nugget of wisdom just hit me, how about instead of kneelign at her staue you have to dance to summon her?

Beauty and illusion.... how about splitting the area in two and making both areas intwertwine with an infinite combination.

ooo, if every party member had an actual role (and i dont mean class specific party members) that would add in a new level of skill into the game, instead of gathering a party together and go "kill this, done, pick up items^^"
Gwen's mother was in UW so why not?

The dead go to Grenth, the gloriously dying to Balthazar. Lyssa does not share in this. Therefore there would be no point in Lyssa creating a vast open realm, and it would not be physical - no living creature could stand in it without the grace of Lyssa.

If there ever was a realm, it would be a small enclave, and not physically reachable, but accessed in dreams and such. If anything, all you could do would be to learn skills there.

In case you didn't notice, I'm against the addition of Lyssa's and Dwayna's realms, as they are not fighters and would not have a realm to fight anything in, and nothing would try to invade them, or Melandru's realm (there already is, normal PvE).
You seem mistaken, Melandru isn't "Gaia", the planet isn't hers alone. It was created by all the gods, And for the the matter of no fighting? There could always be conflict between the gods.

Default The path of the Judgeful

*Now for the exiting instalment of - Mr. G's Really long Realm Idea -*

After shattering the mirror portal of the vain another mirror along the eye shaped room will light up, upon entering it you find youself in a field, just short of a small village. The main twist is that all party members will be transformed into afflicted creatures (respective to their class), Disabling all skills and lowering attack damage to 1. when you enter the village gate a small cut scene should occur showing the villagers backing away from you. Even thou this is a small village it should take up quite a large area with just the few odd houses dotted around. THis will allow for patrols of town guard to wander though the village. The idea of this mission is to sneak though the town avoiding the guards who will instantly attack you as "monsters" also avoiding the villagers who will call guards to there aid. After sneaking though the town for a bit you can come accros a Quest bearing female mesmer by the name of Sara (you see where this is going now). She should say something along the lines of:

"Beings of light, do not hide your aliments for I do not fear nor loath thoose marked with death. The goddess has shown me the way as I shall show you. You have been brought here to do her work, In her name smite those who judge, show them the might that the judges of the goddess wields"

*Quest*
Destroy the Judges - You have 12/12 groups remaining
Sara must not die

For this quest you will be returned to normall form, and the Town guards will be morphed into powerfull Mo/W (lvl 28?)wearing (you've guessed it) Judges armour and weilding hammers. The groups should consits of about 6 each 4 of which weild powerfull Smiting magic while the other 2 heal.

After deafeting 11 of the goups another should appear in the centre of the village, in a town square area witha fountian in the middle. This shall be the normal group of judges but with one extra boss *Gallrick of the Judges* a larger than normal judge that relies on hammer attacks more than monk magic.

After deafeting him he should turn into and aflicted creaure, or a spider or somehting equally harrioble and walk, crawl, scuttle away.

Then Sara should walk up to the central fountain and turnt the watter into and icy mirror, the portal to the Hall of mirrors

Back in the hall (with sara) the mirrior from which you left should shatter, the aflicted creature screams again and painfully transforms. Sara will now leave the party but stay in the hall of mirrors offering the blessings of Lyssa (the same that can be bought for kneeling) - Another part completed for the epic Lyssa quest!

-Enemy Information-
*Town guard*
Take the form of normal canthian guards that patrol, they are invincable so there is no chance of fighting them

*Witchhunter Judge*
The violent Judge, Should carry a large hammer and wear judges armour used a varity of differnt smiting spells, generally the image of the smiting monks from the PvP challenges

*Heritic Judge*
Still wieling hammers these judges are the healers and protectors. Should spam Judges insight

*Items*
The Collectible item should be the Hammers or perhaps the could drop small marble gavels

*Boss - Gallrick of the Judges*
Larger than the other judges carring a large marble hammer. Should use hammer attacks more than spells, but use Shield of Judgement when his health drops low.

*Items*
Ususal boss crap such as scrolls, Collectable item (Gavel?) and "Judgement of Gallrick"

*Judgement of Gallrick*
Using the marble hammer skin, its main advantage should be holy damage, using a Zealous head

Well thats the path of the Judgeful (which im not sure is a word, carnt be bothered to run this throu spell check so sorry for that)

all thats left now is the Path of Greed, Path of the Muse, Path of the Silent, Path of Deception, Path of Truth and finally Path of Lyssa - Stay tuned

I had an idea one time for a Lyssa realm....

"When your mind is shackled with doubt,
You are your greatest enemy!"

My idea is this:

Lyssa Realms isn't really a realm at all. It is inside Horace's mind. Riddled with the pain and agony caused from witnessing the Searing of Ascalon, poor old Horace has gone mad. While Dwayna tends to his physical wounds, Lyssa herself has taken the task of ridding his mind of illusions. If you so wish to, help Horace to accept the truth that is around him and to vanquish the dark presence that slipped into his mind during his time of weakness.

- You start off in what looks like the Wizard's Folly during pre-searing. As you venture further, towards Ascalon City, the scenery will slowly blend into what will look like Ascalon during the Searing. (Burning buildings and trees, Charr raids running around.)

- There is a Avatar of Lyssa that appears next to Horace. The Avatar makes Urns of Disillusion.

- As you travel Towards Ascalon City and Ashford Abbey, you will be attacked by what looks like townsmen and women. They will go after Horace while saying things like, "It's all your fault!", "Everyone is dead, but you! Why???", "You are a coward!!!". These are really his inner demons in disguise. Before you can fight these demons, you must drop a Urn of Disillusion. Once their guise fails.. you can wail at them. You will also have to fight many rock elementals which will block your path. Oh.... and lots of Charr.

- The main quest in this area will help Horace come to terms with what happened to his family. You find out that he went to Foible's Fair just before his family got killed during the initial attack at Ashford. He went their to get his family his favorite treat, yellow pudding.

-You M I G H T just find out what really happened to Gwen...

I like the ideas I've seen so far. My only addition would be a special type of armor available:

Illusionary Armor: Would act as a if the player had a combination of Illusion of Haste and Distortion, as well as a changeable ability.

Armor stats - base (no armor bonuses)
Player moves 5% faster (per armor peice), the effect is not cumulative (i.e. 2 armor pieces give you +10% speed, not +5% and +5%).
Player hasa 5% chance to evade attacks (per armor peice), the effect is not cumulative. You lose 1 energy when evading attacks this way (per armor piece).

Illusionary powers: The Illusionary armor has a bonus power based on what color it is. Its base color is grey (no bonus). This lets you mix and match your armor's abilities.

Color bonuses:
Grey - No bonus
Purple - Chaos damge you deal is increased 2% per armor piece, chaos damage you take is reduced by 5% per armor piece.
Green - +5 armor vs projectiles
Yellow - +5 armor vs melee
Blue - +1 Energy Regeneration
Black - Your Hexes last one second langer per armor piece
etc.

Actually, this is not such a bad idea at all. I could easily imagine a large area with mind bugging quests, labyrinths and more. Maybe a single player realm, to strengthen the dream concept. Good idea!

Lyssa's very nature is the nature of duality. How beauty and chaos intertwine with illusion and reality.

Lyssa's realm should exist with two distinct characteristics; beauty and chaos. A marvelous, grandiose opera house plated in gold and diamonds. Red velvet stretched carefully across oak theatre seats. A magnificent chandelier dripping in gold and somber colors. And yet in between the beautiful nature, there is a sense of uncertainty.

As the party progresses forward, the world around them begins to twist. Eloquent gold statues begin to lose their shine. Twisting and writhing with every step forward that the party takes. Asymetry begins to take over the opera house, as the seats begin to shift, the stage grants uneven, the lights begin to flicker, the tapestries begin to warp and rip.

Then, they take one more step. The chandelier makes a large crack and falls to the center, making an enormous crash. At that moment, the celing rips open, exposing a swirling vortex of chaos occupying the sky. A hole in the wall forms from the cracks, presenting the adventurers a new zone to explore. Here, they are met with unsure realities. Enemies that show their incorrect Health. Enemies that appear walking upsidedown or sideways in very irregular ways. As the party progresses, they pass through similar opera houses that seem untouched from the outside chaos, passing back and forth in a seemingly hellish reality that is hidden beneath the illusion.

What do you think?

Lyssa's most beloved classes are Mesmers, Elementalists and Assassins...

Demons in the Fissure... Undead in the Underworld...

What would be in Lyssas realm? Ghosts? Dragons?

Hm...

When did Lyssa favor Elementalists of ANY kind at ANY time?
