PvE Armor/Weapons and Salvaging
PvE Armor/Weapons and Salvaging.
PvP players can change runes and insignias and weapon mods at will.
Heros Armor you can add and remove runes and insignias at will.
I’ve had it a few times where I wanted to change a rune in my armor (Salvage old one put in new one) but because I had the chance of losing my armor I would not.
For the cheap armor its not to bad you can easily just buy one but when you get into 15k armor or FoW 15k Armor I’m not willing risk losing my armor after it took so long to get.
So why not make PvE armor not break when you Salvage a rune or insignia out of it?
I’d love to be able to change Runes or Insignias on the fly just like PvP players and my heroes. This would also help PvE players get easier into PvP when they can easily change their Armor to the build they want.
The same can be said with weapons for PvE changing weapon mods on the fly with out worrying about destroying them.
For weapons you might need to limit it so only customized weapons would not break.
This should help PvE players get more and more into PvP by not having to worry about buying new armor or weapons when all they have to do is change there Runes, Insignias and Mods.

PvP players have no economy.
To the best of my knowledge, you CAN lose either inisignia or rune when salvaging the other from Hero Armor.
Remember, you don't HAVE TO salvage out the old things to put the new in, you can "overwrite" runes and insignias.
With weapons, it's a tradeoff - how badly do you want that mod for a future (or current weapon, if you're in a replacement cycle) item.
PvE has its own recovery mechanism in the form of the Wisdom Seeker/Treasure Hunter titles (which, BTW I consider to be as broken as any other functional title - hello Sunspear & Lightbringer Rank - I play GW because I hated grinding for levels, but no, now I have to start grinding for titles. Nice job)
Has it occurred to you most PvE players have no interest in getting into PvP , and given the dearth of characer slots available to a typical player, there's more than enugh room to quickly put a PvP char together ??

I did not know you could lose a Rune or Insignias from Heroes.
Yes you can “overwrite” the old one but I change build all the time for PvE or PvP. And I know many players that take PvE characters into PvP. And to buy new Runes and Insignias or mod every time I change my build would become a money sink hole. But for Weapons I’ve had it many times I could not “overwrite” the mod even after I just put it in.
Yes I can always make a PvP character and I do from time to time. But I love taking my PvE character even though he has weaker weapons (Armor) for the builds I run vs PvP version but I still win fights. I even got Gladiator Rank 2 with only PvE characters. But I’m not here to argue that point.
I know many PvE players that have no empty character slots and don’t want to Delete a character they took so long to make just to try or even compete in PvP. Yes they can always buy a new slot but some players don’t have money to do that.
And your right there are Titles to help not destroy your item but I’m not going to grind for a title. I hate grinding.
For myself I would love to have my PvE character be in PvP with no disadvantage when it comes to Armor or Weapons. Skills I just buy or Capture the skill I need for the Build.

Uh - silly suggestion, but ... wouldn't it be more efficient to have a spare set of armor then ? I am somewhat familiar with your plight (I have a few caster characters and I like to swap builds too) - but I managed to solve it by standardising on a single set of armor and just swapping out headgear and (in a few instances) weapon.
Would that help ?

You can buy additional character slots in the game's online store if you need them - IIRC the maximum you can have on your account is 26.
I know this sounds rather harsh - sorry, no offense intended, but I don't see any other feasible solution.

Like I said, I'm sympathetic to your plight, but I fear that implementing such changes will have a profound effect on the overall gameplay experience (as would the other propsal to "equal out PvE with PvP - they already are, each has its own advantages and limitations, and IMO they are pretty well balanced at the moment) and I don't think it would be a very positive one.
There's a good reason PvP characters have the perks they do -- they basically get free maximum equipment they can change at any time they want in an outpost, but trade freedom of movement for the privilege.
Similarly, PvE characters have an advantage in freedom of moving through the (PvE) world at will, but pay for this in having to acquire all skills and items through either random drop, trade or achieving milestones in the campaign.
hope this helps.

In PvE, insignia and runes are created by killing monsters, and you earn money by killing monsters... it's just a Gold pit.

i've never lost any insignia or rune when salvaging things out of hero armor so don't think this is true.

Hm. News to me - not unwelcome news, I must add, but, news to me.
Proof you can't have all the facts
