Idea for bettering the trade system!!!
From my understanding anet/gw has said that we will not see like a trading house or auction system put into the original guild wars and may be one in GW2. I have seen multiple threads and read thru some of them but not seen an idea that I thought of and if someone did suggest it I aplogize but after looking at so many threads on this topic figured this may be allowed to have its own.
My idea is pretty simple and I think it wouldn't put anet out of their way to implement it. As most players are aware that if you type in WTS or WTB it automatically puts it into the trade channel that is defined by the purplish colour. Well what if they took the Trade tab and divided it into a WTB tab and a WTS tab that we can turn on and off and when WTS or WTB is used it puts it into those channels with their own defining colours for text. This would allow us to seperate those that are buying from those that are selling and make it easier on our eyes :P. This wouldn't prevent the all chat salesman but I think it is a simple and easy thing to implement since we know they have the code for these tabs already made and it wouldn't add any more resources that would be needed other then some programers time to make these tabs.
Anyways just a simple solution to a hectic trade system.
Gaile feel free to reply to this topic if you wish

It's a good idea and in a perfect world it would work great, the only problem is people still wouldn't use the correct channels. There is no feasable way Anet can force every sale into the correct channel as people will always come up with a new way to advertise their items ie W T S W2S, SELLING etc etc. The only way i can see for Anet to stop the spam is too give the gamers some other way to sell things.... ie a merchant, auction house etc

Wouldn't work because even with the WTS's being moved, people are now doing W-T-S or W_T_S or W*T*S or something like that. Anet tried the party search idea, but that failed to work for various reasons. Giving people more channels that everyone is just going to turn off is not the answer.
Nice thought, but impracticle so /notsigned

As I mentioned this wasn't a fix for the all channel spammers "This wouldn't prevent the all chat salesman ....." since as it is I turn off all channel now in the major cities. This is a feature for the people that don't abuse the system because it would only work for the people that use the WTB or WTS in their ads and it is just to seperate the WTB from the WTS with its own colour text.

I think that adding an extra tab would work well. The problem is, I think, is that people don't want their message to get lost in a sea of purplish-redish trade text, so they spam in public chat. It would almost be more worthwhile to put color coding in the message system; for instance [green] would give you green text or whatever for your message.
but still, I think WTS/WTB/WTT tabs would help quite a bit.

Yes, some spammers would do that. Though if you make it so you can only search by item type (not by player), they might stop when they realize that they are also advertising someone else's goods for free. For example if a piece of trade spam advertised an item and in the process of searching for it you found a similar enough item for cheaper from someone else, which would you buy ?
Now what if you couldn't view the sellers names ?
But I think that the vast majority of people spamming in the chat channels are doing so because its the only real option (I doubt guru auctions can handle the server load of most of the GW population using it, so they aren't an option). They would stop when an alternative came along.
Then after a few weeks, ANET can start issuing temp bans to anyone trade spamming to get rid of the remaining spammers.
As for separate trade chats, /unsigned until ANET manages to get people reliably using the current one. /signed once they do.

I think they could add a buy and sell tab under the search option and it would help alot. Increase the amount of text to twice the size and remove the trade channel from the message bar. I've seen people using the search bar mostly in LA and for me it's the best place to look because I don't have to scroll back for something I may have wanted to buy. And it would make it easier for sellers because they wouldn't have to spam either. Who wouldn't prefer a nice clean list of items for buying and selling that isn't moving at super speed because of other posters? And then local chat could be freed up for it's intended use.

This solution still has me standing around yelling, "who wants this" instead of playing... so it isn't really a solution.
