To the entire Guru community:

It's with a heavy heart that I must inform you that this site, Guild Wars Guru, will be shutting down on July 1st and will remain in Archive Mode. Over the past 11 years, we've become, and continued to remain, the #1 fansite for Guild Wars, and it's all because to you guys. Without such a strong and passionate community, Guru would have never made it this far and so we thank you for that.

And while we will be saying good-bye to our home here, we will continue to host forums for the GW community over at our sister site, Guild Wars 2 Guru. In fact, you are more than welcome to head on over now and begin posting. If you have any threads you'd like to transfer over, now would be the time.

So once again thank you, and especially those that contributed their time and knowledge to make Guru the amazing place it was. We'll see you over at Guild Wars 2 Guru!

Rocky Raccoon Desert Nomad Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Massachusetts, USA Guild: Guardians of the Cosmos Profession: R/Mo	A few ideas from SilkRoad Online I have been playing SilkRoad Online and they have a couple of features that GW should look at. The first is after you login you must enter a 6 digit alpha-numeric code to complete the login, this is a security feature to help against bots. The second is the stall system where you can set up a 10 item store to sell your goods. I think these 2 features would work very well with Guild Wars.

lyra_song Hell's Protector Join Date: Oct 2005 Profession: R/Mo	1) Bots are run by people. So not really useful. 2) Vending Stalls have been suggested many times. Personally i think its a dumb idea, since youd still be sitting there waiting for someone to buy something.

Chicken Ftw Wilds Pathfinder Join Date: May 2006	There are problems with both suggestions. The first only ever stops clientless bots, and is a pain in the ass for legit players, typing a code every single time you log in. The second, people stall overnight and never log off, leading to overcrowded servers and inability to log in, as well as massive lag. I personally hated both of these things in SRO. Just go to the Ishades and watch the botters grinding there, or better yet, stand in Hotan and watch them get stuck at horse stall. Code effective? Not at all. Part of why I quit, not to mention JM's lack of customer service, but that part of my gripe's best saved for SRO forums.

As far a the stalls, with a little tweaking, maybe an auto close after a certain amount of time, they would work. The stalls are better than a bunch of toons standing around spamming all the time.
