Arrow Ember's Box Of Suggestions!

I know, I don't think I've posted here before but I had a few suggestions for Guild Wars and I looked on the website and that said for suggestions to go to a fansite, let's hope it's read by some staff and perhaps considered. Anyway, without further banter, here are my suggestions:

The Two Handed Sword Concept
I was sitting in my Art lesson the other day, bored as usual because I had nothing to do and I began to wonder why Guild Wars' developers had never introduced a Two Handed Sword to the game for warriors to use.

Requirements and Damage etc
- The two handed sword would ofcourse require Swordsmanship, and have a standard requirement scale (Req 3 - 13 Swordsmanship or whatever it is.).

- The max damage would be similar to that of a Hammer eg. 18-35, 20-38, 17-32 etc (It may be more, it may be less. In my opinion it should be less to give the player more of a challenge and to keep originality between damage sizes)

- The Vampiric Mod: I've noticed that 2 handed weapons tend to have a 5/1 Perfect Vampiric Mod. This should also be typical in the Two Handed Sword.

- All the other mods should be the same as the normal sword, and the upgrade components should be called "Pommel" and "Hilt", as with the 1 handed version also.

Movement and Weight
The Two Handed Sword is held similar to a hammer whilst idle. However - since it is just a larger version of the normal sword. It swings, stabs and slashes slower. It has no room to use a shield due to the size and weight it holds.

I'm no super great drawer, but they are a few examples of what Standing, Walking/Running and Attacking could be like. Don't pay out my stick-men.

Skins, Styles and Artwork
I'm no 3D artist, so I can't really come up with Skin's of the blade to the Guild Wars standard.

Like I said, I'm not the best drawer ever (And I can hardly spell COLOSSAL -.-) but you get the idea. Notice mostly the blade size of the C. Scimitar and the Two Handed Sword - almost the same/the same. Then notice the difference in the size of the handle, to allow for the easy grip of two hands.

Since I haven't come up with any original skins (Surely there would be though) you could always incorperate skins already being used for other weapons, eg
  • Celestial Two Handed Sword
  • Tormented Two Handed Sword
  • Elemental Two Handed Sword

To name a few (Of my favourites).

Unique Items
Well I wouldn't expect anyone to change Bosses and things so they dropped different Greenies but surely in future GW expansions/games they could make Unique Two Handed Swords.


I realise there is most probably a lot more to it than the things I have pointed out, such as Skills etc...well, Skills that require a Sword to use such as Riposte could be used with Two Handed's aswell. Anyway, to wrap it up - that is my concept for Two Handed Swords. Now... next suggestion:

Day/Night System, Weather Effects and Seasons
I realise there is snow/rain in some places across Elona, Cantha and Tyria but there is never any random weather effects like Storms or Rain anywhere - well it would be good if there was, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone had already suggested this.
As for a Day/Night system - the game should have it's own Time system (Including seasons) all together - such as the one in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and should incorperate respective "weather" for both, eg: Summer has lots of sunlight and little rain, and Winter should have darker days, more clouds and rain/snow etc..where as Autumn/Fall and Spring have different effects again. I'm not suggesting that you NAME the seasons "Summer" "Winter", "Autumn/Fall" and "Spring"....Infact I encourage that you don't, same goes for the names of the days. When the time is 6pm-6am (Just used those times for an example) it should be night in Towns/Outposts and explorable areas, and vice versa with 6am-6pm. I realise that Traveling shouldn't influence the time because it would knock it out of balance and each player's time would be different. Just a few things to consider.

Guild Ranks
Perhaps it's just me but I'm pretty bored with "Leader" "Officer" and "Member". My friend tells me that the Guilds in WoW have the ability to create custom Guild Ranks and set different permissions for each of them. Shouldn't GUILD WARS have the BEST Guild technology, since of the emphasis towards Guilds?

And, finally:

Character Names
This has most probably come up before but oh well. 19 is a rather odd number for maximum characters in your name, why not 20? Or 18? Also...perhaps you should allow 1 word in people's names, instead of forcing them to have 2 or more. Another thing is since the game's population is constantly growing - people often don't get the name they desire, this could be simply fixed by allowing use of numbers, Full Stops, Commas, Apostrophes and Inverted Commas inside the name, for example

.ember2inferno.

Instead of "Ember To Inferno"...which was taken before I got to it.
I guess the point is that a first come first served basis is kind of irritating.



Okay, well they are my suggestions to the developers of Guild Wars. Do bear in mind the time and effort I took to come up with these and word them in a sensible manner, perhaps even a "Thankyou for the suggestions" would be nice. And I understand that some of my suggestions have probably come up somewhere before - oh well, here they are again.
