Can you people stop it with the insults? If you have nothing good to say, then don't post in this thread.
I'm quite happy with the current state of Hydromancy. It is a lot more niche in high end PvE, but if you're looking for a way to kill things faster, then tell your party you have good snares, so they don't have to bring their own.

I think I see your point about buffing up water magic, but if you're for water magic to be a damage dealer, you look in the wrong place.
If you've ever played Magic the Gathering, you'd know water is about completely disabling you allowing yourself to get 'pinged' to death by annoying little 1/1 creatures which can deal 1 damage when tapped..
*ahem*
Though I would like to see water magic embrace a little more the 'manipulating' aspect. Right now, it slows enemies primarily. More than that, it only does damage, and not a whole lot else.

Then don't use it in PvE. There's no debate here.
Seriously kid, take a seat.

Want a good water spell?
Ground Zero
E:25, C:5, R:60
Elite Spell. For 10 seconds, adjacent enemies move 90% slower and receive 5..17..20 damage per second, nearby enemies move 60% slower and receive 5..17..20 damage ever two seconds and enemies in the area move 33% slower and receive 5..17..20 damage every three seconds.
This spell causes exhaustion.

I know this was a rhetorical question, but I'm answering it anyway just 'cause I wanna bump this topic for the luls within it. They're PvEers mostly, or in bhavv's case, IWAYer who PvEs. Neither of which has a clue about balance or game mechanics in general.

Apparently, we're all a bunch of n00bz with nothing better to do than to pretend we know how to play guild wars and to bother an elite player such as himself.

If you're asking for water nukes, then yeah, that sums you up pretty well imo.

So why the hell you need to use Water Ele in PvE if you only need big damage and don't need snare ( main role of water) ? Have only Water weapons and don't have any Fire one I guess ?
It's not a class ffs, and it is not as if you can't use your character Ele ( the whole mesmer class is not favourite in PvE, that's why it needs a buff).

linh, style for one. Personal elemental damage preferance and tastes. You want to RP (because pve chars are called RP chars. Nuking with fire is overdone. In other games, you can usually deal competitive damage with ice. PvE is all about doing damage. There's never been a good enough set of water magic skills to run ice spike in pvp but you can run at least some kind of spike with the other elements (as I linked to earlier). Because when a person first hears about the class he might have a reasonable expectation to deal good damage with any element.
There, eight reasons that there should at least be some consideration given to this request.

So Anet should add water nukes and skew the water line's purpose just 'cause you and a couple others want to be different and nuke with water. Hmm... no.

I don't see how water not doing the damage you desire stops you from RP'ing.

You want to nuke, you use fire. You want single target damage, you use Air. So what if it's "overdone", it's effective.

GW isn't one of those other games. In GW, each elemental line serves a different purpose, and those purposes work well as they are. Besides, other games don't even attempt balance in their damages and such.

So use fire.

I've not seen any PvP'ers asking to spike with Water. Maybe that's because it's not made for spiking, or damage in general. Although there is the Shatterstone/Vapor Blade combo that has been previously mentioned which works fairly well in rainbow spike.

Yet he has no idea about game balance, since he's new. Over time, he learns each element's purpose. Or maybe he remains ignorant and makes topics asking for nukes in every line.

Water is already too good to have air magic like spiking capabilities.
