2 channels for trade, and color of chat
As seen by the number of people who used All Chat as a channel for trading, with the upcoming diligence, there needs to be a more efficient manner in which people can handle sales. Since we now know the in game auction house is not going to be coming, here is my suggestion.
Have a "Sell" channel where people can post goods, and a "Buy" channel where people can post what it is they want to buy.
Secondly, it is my opinion that the red is a lot harder to read, especially when chat is going by so fast. If there was anyway the two channels could have something that stands out a little bit more, that would be great.

This is a brilliant idea! With this change, I could go into a town and turn off all the Sell chat, allowing me to only see people who are looking to buy something, and vice versa...

It's a wonderful idea, but I can see people simply expanding their spamming to ANOTHER channel, in addition to the ones that are already used.

I'll /sign to this though most spamming is selling so I dont know how much it will really help with the spam in one chat channel.

I just hope that not everyone will shut down trade chat, otherwise it gets useless anyways. But since that's not the case with th current channel, it think it will be fine.

I actually suggested the idea of separate buy/sell trade channels and different colors for them when Gaile Gray was in Kamadan one day about a month ago, but I don't know that she even saw it with all the spamming of "Say Hi to So-and-So" going on...all the silly spam when Gaile is around makes it kind of hard to ask questions or make decent suggestions.

It wouldnt stop people using local chat and Ill give you an example why. This is a quote from a poster who replied to a thread of mine concerning people doing just that....

...that is the attitude of just one person who uses the local chat to trade. And it speaks bucket loads. Traders know that alot/most people turn off trade channels.
By doing that, they think they are loosing potential customers. But instead of respecting the fact we dont want to trade, they think its acceptable to ram their trade messages down our throats in the local chat.
Traders will always use the local chat, because they know not everyone listens to the trade ones.

Would be nice to have separate buy and sell channels, but how many people are actually going to respect that?

Won't fix the problem
The reason people use All Chat to trade is to advertise to a wider audience. Spamming trade messages in All Chat works, otherwise the practice wouldn't be so widespread and rampant. Your solution merely splits the existing chat.
Sellers started spamming in All Chat because players turned off the trade channel. Now people turn off the public channel, too. Adding more channels to spam "WTS" won't solve anything.

To help with fast scrolling text when buying I simply scroll upwards a bit. Pauses the text flowing by and then I scroll down and scan through it at a more reasonable pace. I never miss anything on channel that way. I'm sure most people do that, but when I read the OP's comment about the text going by so fast being hard to read, I began to wonder.
As for the split into two channels, no I suppose I wont sign onto that, logical as it sounds. Already have enough people with lack of common sense to simply use the trade channel for WTS/WTB and, no, I dont want to make it more "complicated."
One thing I would like to see though is an adjustment to the display of the Trade channel text. A nice thing about the All Channel is the names are in yellow and the text is in white. On a two line message that wraps, its FAR easier to scan that quickly because you have the name in yellow as your visual key point to where the next message begins. Like a paragraph indent - works the same way.
I suggest taking the names as displayed in Trade channel and making them bolder and a bit brighter. Currently they are not bold and are the same color as the message text on channel and it is therefore a bit harder to scan. It would do wonders for quick scanning of the channel and I have no idea why a designer long ago didnt do that...

Color Code WTB/WTS
From someone that is having a hard time reading thru the trade channel. My suggestions to ANET is to use the code they put in for WTB and WTS flags going directly into trade channel to color code them in two different colors. Then you would have three different colors in the trade channel:
Red/Pink - People who do not want to use the standard WTB/WTS notation
Color 1 - WTB Posts
Color 2 - WTS Posts
Don't know how simple this would be but a new tab would not be needed.
Thanks for the consideration.

/SIGNED, seriously that would help a lot, and at certain times a day there are quite a lot of buyers, most of them get ignored or their message doesnt stand out with the WTS spam, i also agree on a color change, this color we have now is horrible when running in kaineng center to your storage, the texture of the floor is somewhat in the same color as the trade chat.
A buy and a Sell channel, ohh we could use that, it doesnt matter if people turn it off, only people that are trading and want to buy something without spamming wtb have them on anyway, like i do. its that simple i want something i turn on trade chat, when im done its off.
One of the better ideas about trading.

They should just let us choose the color for the different chats instead of having predefined ones. That'd solve a lot of other complaints on this forum (about how they hate reading pink trade text and white text is cooler).

Even with major visual improvements, trading based only on spamming a certain channel is the most primitive and time consuming way to do it. With the current state of the market it wouldn't help much.
But anyway,
/signed, because this is an improvement and any improvement is good
although i know they could do more if they only wanted.

Pretty useless.
WTB and WTS are english only.
In diffenrent languages, different starting tags are used.
Two trade channels is a better way.
One to sell, one to buy.
