I've played many MMORPG's and the one major thing I've noticed that Guild Wars is missing is an auction house. An auction house will do WONDERS for this game.

Going into a town and seeing non-stop spamming of people trying to sell things just makes you turn off all your chats. It's impossible to read and it just becomes a bother.
Instead of just selling things to NPCs, allow you to put your item up for auction. It becomes more of a motivation to actually want to go out and get good items/weapons instead of just getting one weapon for your class.

I found that it is extremely hard to make enough money to buy really good weapons. With an auction house, prices fluctuate with the economies state (just like dye sellers do now) but more drastically.

Personally I think an auction house would be a great addition to GW. It doesn't have to be a big extravagant building (although that would be nice) and there doesn't have to be one in each town (although that would be nice too). Just a simple NPC that collects your items and puts them up for auction for the world to bid on.

This topic has been mentioned and debated a million times (and that isnt an exeragation). Yes the trading ingame isnt perfect and its damn near frustrating and wes we need a better trading system and yes an auction house would solve all our problems.

But the simple fact is that it would take alot of development time to do it, and Anet have other things to be doing like GW:EN and GW2. Also in all honestly, while the existing trading system does suck and it isnt perfect, it does do the job.

We have a party search feature that has trading abilities (which arent perfect) and we also have a trade channel (which also isnt perfect), but that doesnt mean their unusable and they dont prevent trading!

Yes trading needs fixed, but its not high priority because we have 2 systems in place that allow us to trade.

I would love to have a WoWish AH system or anything to improve trading, but I dont believe its high priority.

If you can make it there, you gonna make it anywhere.....but not here in GW. Sadly an auction house will be one of those thing you'll never see here. And btw "search" function doesn't work that well but type in auction house and you'll still find some old thread about it.

With the number of players in guild wars (based on a post a while back saying 3 million copies sold) we will be seeing hundreds of thousands of stalls up at a time. Maybe only tens of thousands. So you will need some search method to only display stalls with stuff you want.

But since people will keep using the search system instead of wandering around the stalls, the stalls themselves will become irrelevant. So remove the stall part, and have the item database optimized for the search.

As for an auction vs seller set prices, that doesn't matter too much for me. Whats important is the search system to find the cheapest seller.

To go thought all the trouble of monitoring chat spam and suspending accounts and who knows what else and not just give us the auction house is beyond me. There must be some major technical issue is all I can think of.

Hm, another auction house thread. If the search was not broken I would shout UTFS. But I will not do that now.

But this has been asked for many times.

And my vote would be /notsigned. I don't like to pay to put items on auction. I rather would like to see some kind of shop that you can make to sell your own stuff.

Yes, I'd be against an auction house that did this. Thing is I've never seen anyone actually suggest paying to place items as a good thing.

But if they did instead of rejecting the entire idea because of a very minor complaint, I'd propose a simple change. Either don't charge for the AH use, or put a tax on the final sale.
