Default Please change the drop timer so people cant pick up my Titan gems

I was in Foundry in hard mode and 5 Titans Gems droped for the party. One of them was mine. The tank bought time and picked up all of out titans and wouldint give them to the people thay droped for. 10 min is just not long enughf. We all got robed by him we all reported him, but for some reason i dont think that he will get banned because after 10 min there free to anyone who picks them up. So Please change the timer to at lest an hour.

Granted, i don't do DOA a lot, so u may have been too busy, but it seems to me if u guys knew u had rare drops lying around and in 10 mins could find a way to get them whiel the tank could, he deserves them

And when the tank waits 1 hour to steal your drops what are you gonna do?
Come back here and ask for the timer to be put on A one Day delay?
Can you tell me what prevented you to get the gems?

I say: Freeze counter while enemies are around and when owner is dead, and when the owner leaves, reassing it randomly, not just make it for everyone.

Why'd you wait 10 minutes to pick up something that was your drop? 10 minutes is ample time. Whatever was keeping you from picking up your drop for 10 minutes, I can promise it could have lasted longer. If you were dead and the warrior didn't res you, he could have waited as long as he wished.

Allowing other people to get items after 10 minutes allows people to take what other players don't want while allowing a generous time for players to take their own items. I think it does it very well in fact. I have a hard time believing that a battle could possibly last longer than 10 minutes, and that it was so intense, you couldn't have simply picked it up in the middle.

I tip my hat to the man who took your drop. It would seem he wanted them more than you for not having picked it up when you had the chance.

Be realistic!

Your comparing a 10 minute waiting time to an hour. Whos going to keep their team dead for an hour just to get their drops?

People play that scam (although Anet probably wont accept its a scam), because 10 minutes isnt that long a time to wait.

If it was 30-60 minutes, then people would realise its anti-productive to pull that kind of thing, because in that 30-60 minutes, you could have done a second or third run and picked up far more rare drops.

The time limit is far too open to exploit. All someone needs to do, is keep you dead for a very short 10 minutes. Its something you can very easily do, if you hang back and or tank.

I dont see a reason why they set it to 10 minutes anyway, especially if your doing a very length elite mission.

They could reserve until the player leaves
BUT imagine Wintersday if the presents never unbind by the end we'd be up to our ears in unclaimed presents

The same loser that waited 10 minutes, he would just let his pc on and go and do something like watch tv for an hour because that Malyx reaver dropped for someone else and everyone else besides him died,cause he KNOWS that nobody else will be able to get it anyways.

I think the problem with some DoA team builds (I know stygian veil does) is that it requires the rest of the team to be hidden away safely in some area. That makes it really easy for the tank to pick up the items while the rest of the team is still in that safe area trying to nuke the monsters away.

No fix will solve this, unless they reserve it permanently.

So just remove the timer completely and then it wont work!

Anet actually collected all the non-collected xmas stuff and gave it to the players who were unable to take part in it, or.... recycled them I guess!

So this idea of removing the timer wouldnt effect special events.

I'd much rather it be drops stay reserved permantly and when a person leaves that little "Unclaimed Items" box comes up with the items not picked up.

You could also stop being a retard:

Leave the game to an outpost and the item can be picked up by anyone. Later he'll give it to you.

In case someone starts whining "omg but then i cant keep playing!" : If you can't res or kill the group to pick up that thing you couldn't keep playing either.

You change the binding to be until the person there bound for leaves that means
They drop for someone thats dead
The person that would of stolen them on a 10min or 1hour timer leaves the game
Now how does this let you get them?

If someone would be willing to steal them they'd be willing to leave you dead so you can never get the drop
OR they can leave GW running until everyone quits
Stealer goes to bed knowing he has 5 titan gems waiting in the morning

Yes he could do more runs and likly make more BUT if he just stays he is garrenteed 5 titan gems and all he has to do is sit next to them longer than anyone else

(where ever i put "he" stick a /she after it i don't want to be sexist )

ok, for all your people criticizing him for what he said because you don't know/understand/are not goon enough to play or are just too lazy to play DoA, heres a few things

in foundry, there are gates that close behind you when you go into a room, the team uses a trick with a pet and NT to get behind them, the tank gets enemies on the other side, keeping the team from harm, and until all enemies are dead, the team cant get through these gates, so please don't go on about "10 mins in more than enough time! blah blah blah", titan gems are worth roughly 20K a pop atm, and are some of the reason people play foundry, iv had this happen to me, you get a tank who goes thought till a titan gem drops, then waits till the titan gem is available, takes it, with the person unable to get it at any time, and leaves, and refuses to give it back.

so please, all you ignorant title grinders PLEASE TRY to understand how some things work before you go around slagging off peoples arguments.

I've had one time in Urgoz warren, in the first degen room the battle lasted too long and some of my drops were released for anyone to pickup. As a monk there was no way I was going to be walking into a room with -10 degen and enemies wailing on me just for a gold drop.
Sure in my case it was just a white drop, and as a guild group I didn't really have to worry about someone stealing my valuable drops anyway. But its not just DOA where the drop timer isn't long enough.

One idea I had a while back was have drops currently exist on the timer as normal. But if you rightclick on a drop you can chose to either free it for anyone instantly, or permanently lock it so the timer won't expire (unless you leave the instance).

I don't want to make thing's too complicated, because ripping off 20k gems should seriously be stopped, but the permanent timer is not so great in a lot of other areas.

I routinely pick up leftover whites to be salvaged/merched in Urgoz/Tombs. These runs would be less profitable if the perma-timer was implemented.

How about this...

Golds/Greens/Rare Matl's - basically all drops exempt from loot scaling - have the perma-timer. Everything else reverts to the old 5 minute timer. That would be the best of all worlds.
