I don't know if this has been recommended before, I couldn't find it in the index or search (granted I didn't check every single thread because the search options are terrible on these forums, shoe me). Lately I've been doing a lot of work on my titles (exploring, farming, driking, capping, etc.) and while some titles are rather nice, there are some that I don't like at all. For instance, even though Grandmaster Cartographer ain't too shabby, I find the title Traiblazer a lot better and while Lucky is alright, I think that Charmed suits my female character a lot more but eventually I'll surpass it through using lockpicks anyway. The idea is that one should be able to use all titles that he has or has previously acquired, either via radio boxes, dropdown menus or some other method. Granted several titles would have to be changed, cartographer would need the current percentage rather than the fixed one, the numbers should always show the actual level of the title instead of the one you are displaying, etc. and some shouldn't have this option (like the Sunspear rank, faking a "military" rank is just silly). Overall however, I think it'd be a nice change for those who like showing off their characters.

Well the cartographer can still have percentage in steps, just showing a different name and I've never seen anyone fussing about titles except fame. This was more aimed at the titles that aren't considered important, like (Un)Lucky, Drunkard, Sweet Tooth, etc. Maybe it's just me not liking to be pushed towards the next title like with lockpicks lol. And besides, why you would ever want to play with someone who cares about titles that much is beyond me, I'd be glad if I got kicked for that

Anyway, the lack of responses tells me it's not such a good idea as I thought it might be. I guess I can live with forced titles, I'm using my LB track 95% of the time anyway.

Only obnoxious noobsauce give a crap about titles. If someone's acting like Water Angel's example, I'd leave the party anyway. I think this would actually be a pretty neat idea. Hapless > Unlucky.

I agree on this one, but only about the part of changing the name of the title, not showing the progress towards it. Some titles just sounds better with the names of lower tiers.

Well I still don't think military ranks like the Sunspear track should be changeable but it would be nice if at least some were. Maybe enough Charmed and Happles people will gather for someone to notice after all.

At once? No one said anything about displaying more than one title at the same time, merely to be able to display titles you have already surpassed.

Titles have meaning, they denote progress in the endeavour to achieve the highest title in that track. If you want to display the title "Trailblazer" go ahead and stop advancing in the cartographer track beyond that. Unless, of course you want to max out the title. Then you'll just have to settle for "Grandmaster Cartographer."

Yes, but some titles don't give you the chance to stop, I wouldn't mind stopping at Explorer or at Happles, but after finishing Nightfall campaign I had 70%+ explored and even if I wanted to keep being Happles, the lockpicks increase that title track almost 90% of the time I use them. Sure titles have a meaning but I only really want my rank displayed not some name I don't like because that means the whole meaning of having that title is lost. It's like wearing armor purely for its statistics, sure it's good but you want the one that looks best.

The level in parenthesis would always show the highest rank attained in the title progression.

But there would be no harm, and more variety for players, if they could pick via a radio button on which rank title to display.

The max title is always selected by default if no other is chosen.

Options are always better.
