"Deserter" title - How to deal with "leavers"
Ok, I'm sure everyone has noticed recently ever since the faction change in one of the latest updates that players have been ditching in the middle of the PVP competitive missions. This is mostly occurring on the Luxon side in the Fort Aspenwood mission and it's really getting annoying. Games are becoming a complete bore and winning feels pointless because of it.
Here is what I purpose Anet should consider doing to try to reduce it:
The "Deserter" Title.
- Whenever a player leaves in the middle of a pvp game (whether that be an arena or a competitive mission) before a victor has been declared, they will gain a point towards this title.
- For each point in the title, players will receive less faction for both balthazar and alliance. How this is calculated I leave up to Anet.
- To remove the points from the title in order to remove the penality, players have to stay in matches to the end.
- To further promote staying, players can gain points for a new title of "loyality" in which they can gain extra faction based on the number of points in the title.
- To prevent leechers from exploiting the loyality title, they have to actively participate in the match. It's up to Anet how to determine when a player is "active" in a match. I would suggest that players get kicked from a game if they fail to move their character after 1 minute of standing still and not using skills and/or initiate an attack.
Ok, just my thoughts on how to deal with this problem. It's about time Anet did something about the whole leeching/leaving situation and I hope this idea would be a good step in the right direction.

Nice idea but what about the leacher bots who just move around in cricles or click healing signet constantly. Maybe if you donot do over 200 damage then you do not get any faction.

It shouldnt be title, but some ranking system. If you have 1000 points, you get normal factions. If u have less then 1000, your factions income will be decreased.

Because:
People leaving for legit reasons would be unfairly penalised.
Some would see this negative title of yours as a goal to work to, thus actually increasing the amount of leavers.

IF people would leave legit for one times, the point could be removed for the next game, because total faction could be calculated at the end of the match (could don't say it does)
So someone leaving once will not be affected by it, only multiple times. And if you leave 2 time sin a row, maybe you shoulden't play when you can be interrupted that easily?

If you have a legit reason, you're not going to care if you get a deserter point or whatever.
If your wife is giving birth, you're not gonna say 'Give me 5 mins gotta finish this FA match'.
If you stop to get coffee, THEN you can't claim to have a legit reason.

/not signed because of this. Also, ANet has enough going on without having to handle negative title track points on a case-by-case basis, and since displaying titles are optional, even if you reach Brave Brave Sir Robin rank, who will know if you're showing, say, Lucky instead?

make it unmaxable so ppl don't farm it for KoaBD

PS: to all those saying that legit players would be penalised, the title would only start decreasing points after say 25 deserted/leeched battles in a row. point would be SUBTRACTED by actively fulfilling pvp missions. be it arenas or otherwise.

The system sounds good but don't make it a title because of the aforementioned problem.

This person said it all if you have a "legit" reason your not going to give a crap about GW
If you have to go or be late for something DONT ENTER BATTLE 2MINS BEFORE IT
No more can really be said and i think we people that stay deserve a bonus
If spells can tell if your casting on yourself "Target other ally . . . " then maybe you have to use 10+ skills not on your self to qualify as "loyal"
Give real players a bonus not more nerfs "supposed" to stop bots/leavers
EDIT
Almost forgot
/signed signed signed more alliance and balth for the decent people that AB

Give me a break for god's sake.
Just say this to yourself when someone leaves:
"Shazbot (not hard to find the word I'm replacing) happens."

So...as mentioned in that big RA thread (/sigh) down at riverside if we're stuck with griefers, runners, or complete morons for teammates and mind you it happens quite a lot, we have to put up with them or face negative points towards our name each time?
Er, no thanks.
I acknowledge leavers, etc. are a problem but netting everyone who leaves together like that, even with your 'cumulative leave point systems' won't really help.

ok this is really a funny idea. I would totally farm this title maxable or not, especially if it had a cool postable title kinda like the happless title. I love that title alot. This would in an odd way promote leavers and only work to compound this issue. Truth be told is that life happens, and on the priotity list of life events, I am hopeing that Guild Wars is on the lower end, if it isn't you need to reevaluate your priorities.
For me I try not to "Leech or Leave" and group I am with, but I am a father of a young child, and if my son needs me I am sorry if you die, lose factions, or what not. You can NOT always plan your time and account for all possibilities.

why not just say if you leave a match you can not enter anymore for another 5 mins?
then it would take to much time to constantly leave

heh i was just gunna say that placebo, cause yea that is by far the easiest, cause legit leavers would not be effected in the least, by greifers would.

I've seen this suggested before, and I think it's a good idea. Maybe up it to 10 minutes to make it a decent punishment worth avoiding. If you've gone AFK, then you'll probably be gone for most if not all of the time you're blocked from playing, so it doesn't matter. It'll only affect the jerks who ragequit and immediately try to start again with another team.
