Friend Notes.
I think it would be cool if we had the ability to add notes for members of our friends list. As in...
Friend 1 - "Kickass HA Protection Monk"
Friend 2 - "Ranger Component of TA 4v4 ownage squad."
Friend 3 - "Invited me into Guild that GvGs 4 times a week."
Friend 4 - "Great PvE tank willing to try to make it past that Terrorweb city in UW"
Ect.
Think of what an awesome tool this would be to get together ...say... Hero's Ascent PuGs.

very nice idea, may be the notes should be capped at 10-20 chars,
to reduce the memory burden

I always have trouble remembering who "that" guy in my friends list is. If I don't remember I just remove him...what else can I do,it's not like he'll remember me either. So yea, this would be an excellent feature.

I've wanted this for a long time. Maybe even folders, sort of like the quest window.

Actually after seeing what Robster Lobster put, I am going to have to say no. You can get up off your lazy ass and get a pencil and paper and write down notes about people you just met so you don't forget them. If you don't know the people on your 'friends' list then maybe they're not really your 'friends' at all.

Now why should people be forced to use pen+paper? Ingame notes system would be great, writing up a little description to friends would also rock.
EVE had a great system, built-in calculator and notepad, ability to set waypoints & give them descriptions, and give descriptions to people and guilds, I would like to see those more in games.
What it comes downsides, the amount of data Anet servers would have to store if people were allowed to write up descriptions and notes, a simple fix would be to store these descriptions locally. Would lose the 'all stuff stored on server'-feature, but...

Haha, well, actually, they're not my friends, all my friends are in my guild.
But I don't get a "people I meet in TA, CA, HA, Outposts, missions, that I think are awesome and are up for giving me a hand or playing that cool build again" folder : /.
Maybe they should only tell you what skills do once, and you can write it down and look it up later if you forget...

ROFL! I usually keep about 3-6 pages open(depending on what I am/plan to be doing. AND I HATE IT! It'd be much easier if, when you 1st "friend" someone, to be able to make a note saying "From X mission, good team player, owes me 2k..."(j/k )

It's ok when you don't have so many listed, but when you start to pile em up to fill the entire list you find yourself deleting the old ones, and new ones are harder and harder to remember. Some people have a lot of close contact links for business and PvP organisation and this would be very useful for that. Perhaps click on a little tab beside the name and it brings up the note.

I just throw people that are fun to game with and are competent players on my friends list. I'm not going to start remembering them until I group with them a 2nd or 3rd time. If I knew what class they played at least I would be able to invite them into groups that needed a 4th or 8th.
The idea is turn a friends list from "People I liked gaming with but can't remember where/what they play so unless I want to whisper every single one it's not practical to use it say... when the group needs a good illusion mesmer." to "Oh! I got a monk on friends, let's see if he's game."
Seriously, I can't remember what half my guild plays, much less a guy that I went on a 20+ win streak in TA with 3 weeks ago.

I've been wanting this for a long time. I'd love to be able to make little notations, i.e. "Tombs farming buddy," etc. I'd love it if ANet added this feature. It's near the top of my wish list.
