The ultimate means of slaying bots.
This would be the ultimate end to bots in the game, however farming would be unaffected.
Simply in order to zone out of a town into an area have the party lead be required to enter a random three or four digit code. Show the party leader the code, he/she enters and clicks OK, off you go.
I don't know how much coding effort that would be and until you got used to it it would feel like an inconvenience, but bot programs would become effectively extinct, or at worst every bot farmer would have to monitor each bot 24/7 to enter the codes for farming.
It would work.
I would still like to see bot traps in town though... fences that appear in the bots paths and herd them like cattle.

That avatar is one of the better recent ones, but I think my favorite of all time was Yukito's animated gifs where someone was always getting hit.
I'm not sure how well the code idea will work. I think there are a few programs that are able to get around it.
Ideally, all the online game developers would get together and create an OS just for online gaming that wouldn't allow non-online game programs to run, save for maybe VOIP and a MP3 player, and they'd only be able to run if that OS is running.

This would piss me off to no end. Having to enter a code every time I wanna leave town? That's STILL punishing legit players for the sake of bots......

It's not worth getting rid of bots if everyone has to go through all that trouble

Annoying.
I sometimes zone and rezone more than 100 times in less than one hour.

A thumb pricking device would work too. Basically every time you wanna leave a town, you gotta stick your thumb in the machine and it pricks you and makes you deposit blood to test if you're human. The human body has about 5 litres of blood and generates 2 litres of blood a week. Therefore, if you deposit more than 2 litres of blood per week, you MUST be a bot since no living human can play that much...... but it works Granted, many players will die before even reaching level 2 "Friend of the Kurzicks" but THIS IS WAR!!!! and the bots started it.

Hmm... but that would require the distribution of equipment to each player which could be problematic.
But hey, it's thinking out of the box!

There is another way besides codes or an OS: make GW either able to detect what's running and shut down non-essential processes on your PC or have it check for known bot programs and shut down the moment one of them start running.

you really want to kill bots? Just remove the signposts in towns. It make it nearly impossible for them to leave.

Or simply make a 'ready' button to leave an outpost next to your name in the party window. No keyboard shortcut, so you can only select it with the mouse.
