if a mesmer will win vs any template in 1v1,
just dont fight a mesmer in 1v1?
let everyone else have fun,
really it wont hurt anyone or anything
all you have to do, is remember not to think about balancing anything because of 1v1 at all.
1v1 should be for fun, and not be allowed to mess up any balance acheived in gvg

If no one will fight mesmers, than this will hurt the mesmers, and wouldn't let them have any fun.

lol wariors can get owned by ranger all you need is traps . yesterday we formed ann alll ranger team arena just o have fun no goal in mind, one was a spiritlayer, one was i was traps, another was damge dealer, and another interupter. k so the warrio felt brave and went for me but i had layed traps all over me wat happen he died lol. i brought his health really low and he was cripple, bleeding, and then i poisioned him

Guild Wars is a party-based strategy game. That's one reason why you only get to choose 8 skills. The game was not designed or balanced for 1v1 fights.

That may be however there are times when players get bored and would like to test builds in a one v one competitive or friendly match. It could be used to see which is the best out of you and your friends. Noone is asking you to play one v one it as it can be option for those who want to. There should be an arena where people can challenge people to a deathmatch or where you are matched up against a random person. I for one wold welcome this in Guild Wars.

I'm just pointing out that the game was designed, tested and balanced with party play in mind. I doubt ANet would go through all the trouble to balance the classes as a group and then throw in a 1v1 arena where all that is moot.

some people think only about themselves
a 1 vs 1 arena would only be meant for fun or testing
it's not like the tomb or GvG, therefore balance between classes is not important
it would be like "hey i'm bored, let's do some quick duels"
I know I would fight anybody, even if I'm sure to lose, if it's for fun
- there are many people who want it
- it woudn't change anything for those who don't want it

I think 1v1 would be so inherently flawed and broken that ANet wouldn't bother doing the work necessary to make it reality. Other games tend to handle this through a simple /duel process after which the players become attackable to one another, but GW would have to add a whole new area or change how aggression works (I must admit, it would be fun to just go out of town with a friend and /duel). The problem with an arena, though, is that any random match (or even "dEwL mE nEWb") would end up being like when a team battle becomes 1v1 - lots of running and stalling without much actually happening.

My point was, this game was made to have Guilds fighting in PVP, or a team of people working together. Making a 1v1 arena would completely scew the entire idea and purpose behind Guild Wars. It's about teamwork, not how much 1 monk can own any other class on 1v1.

Honestly, there are some good 1v1 builds, but it would just come down to counter builds. A beats B, B beats A, C beats A.
A warrior with interrupts and life transfer would be very good though.

I tried starting a thread like this awhile back . . .ill say this one has gone over rather well compared to mine :P i would LOVE this . . you could use it in so many ways. Monk A wants to join my guild, right now all i can do is play with him in tombs or droknars, and "feel" him out see what strengths are and such . . as opposed to going "ok Monk A . . Warrior B and Necro C Are going to kill Mesmer D . . .keep him alive" as far as 1 v 1 why not? put it in the guild halls/random arenas or outside town. those who are deathly afraid of it killing there online experiance NEVER have to see it. . . To be honest after earning the cash for a hall for my guild, i was rather shocked there was no 1 v 1. for a PvP game . . .it would make sence wouldnt it? And if your going to retaliate with "GUILD WARS not 1 V 1 WARS" stuff it the way its been outlined in this thread and other threads with NO rewards just fun/build testing . . how will it affect you?

I dont understand what it will hurt.
Its not affecting the ladder, no sigils will be won, just let 2 people who want to, fight each other.
please explain why you oppose this, other than you not wanting others to have fun?
