Invisible Armor
Ok, this might sound silly, but how about some invisible armor pieces. They will have the same stats as regular armor for your profession but it will appear as you don't wear any armor to other players.
Ok, probably my worst idea so far.. but it doesn't have to be for all armor parts. Maybe hands only, possible chest. It's not that weird really, there are already naked monks with tattoos running around.

It shouldn't be too difficult to add in game, it's not like they have to design any new armor for it

For the perfect twist, this should be called Emperor's Armor... from the "Emperor's New Clothes". He proudly walked around in his "new invisible" clothes while people pointed saying "Look, the Emperor is naked!"

I think this would be interesting, but would just invoke more bad jokes and sexual innuendo with emotes. I know I wouldn't be wearing something like this.

You don't need invisible armor per se, but rather an option to just hide it. It already exists with your guild cape and helm.
I really don't know what RPG out there has an option to fight naked with full effectiveness. Even in Fable, if you fought naked (as part of a quest boast) it was just that: no protection whatsoever. So of course, you took serious damage.
This idea, however, would be interesting for April Fool's...in every other aspect of game play, it isn't something I would consider. When I first got Guild Wars I was surprised you got hide your helm but keep the armor bonus. However, your suggestion takes things a bit too far...
On a side note, a long time ago doing a few CM's (Fort Aspenwood) I decided to fight like a true warrior! Just wearing my shorts. To my amusement, an enemy warrior decided to strip down to his underwear too, and we fought mano a mano.

Funny, but no.
Besides, do we not have enough posibilities to strip naked and dance in the game to have to implement a way of playing the game naked as well? At that point, you might as well allow people to play the game in any model they wanted.. Shiro, Gwen, ... It's fun for halloween and april fools, but not normally.

I think more of what the OP was trying to get at was along the lines of perhaps hiding the gauntlet pieces of armor. Just as Headgear can be hidden(as some people don't want to look at it), maybe the gauntlets could be hidden out of preference for the look without having to lose the armor bonus.
But that's just my two cents
