Spiderball (weird minigame idea)
Ok I just had a very odd dream about Guild Wars and someone asked me to post it here because it sounded fun to them (though it'd definitely need a little tweaking to be possible)
My dream started with me logging into Guild Wars because Arenanet had just patched in some new minigame for pvp, sorta like some event-style minigame. (it had no official name, but you'll soon see why I called it Spiderball in the title)
Now the way the game was set up, was multiple teams could play (with different maps for different team amounts, but I went with 1 team vs another) and the teams were 8-man teams of course, battling in a spider cave-themed map.
Each team has a spider Den as their home base, with a spider nest somewhere in the back, and each team starts the round with 10 spider eggs inside the nest. Now the point of winning the round is to get the most spider eggs in your nest when the time runs out.
These spider eggs also double as dodgeballs (no I have no idea how that worked even in my dream) and each person could only carry 1 at a time. Getting hit was a 1 hit KO and you are out for the rest of the round. In the event of one team knocking another team out, the win always goes to whoever had the most eggs in the nest anyways. (This was to let whoever was in the lead start purposely trying to take out enemy team for a quick win, but if they fall behind they had to try to not kill off the enemy team completely for added challange)
The overall concept was it was team based in the objective, and there would still be some way of keeping track of how many knockouts an individual has so they could earn little rewards (I woke up before this all finished up, so I'm guessing it counted towards the gamer title or rewarded booze/faction/sweets)
A team win would net you points towards these erwards as well though, enough to deter people from blindly going on an enemy team killing spree without worry of the team's win or loss. I have no idea what type of tie-breaker would be in place should both teams die or run out of time with same amount of eggs in the nest.
Anyways feel free to add ideas to this topic, it was just a weird dream I figured I'd share for fun with the rest of you.

May need tweaking, but a good idea.
Reminds me of a game I played in schol once - where you'd just dart into the middle of the playing area and try to nab as many tennis balls as you can and return them to your circle.

I was thinking about it a bit more, and considering the way it worked in my dream is impossible on the guild wars engine at the moment (i was able to freely throw the egg in any direction) I came up with a simple solution that's kinda inplace already.
We take the dragon arena stuff and use that as a basis, like a projectile attack instead of throwing eggs, one useable while holding onto an egg (considered a bundle item) or maybe even limited to being used while holding the egg if you want, though I think it'd be better useable at any point
Throw in some dodge/movement speed skills and you've got your game mode right there.
Another quick thought popped into my head as well, what if it were different maps for different regions? Example being if you entered from Ascalon you played with devourer or moa bird eggs, if from Lion's Arch, you used the spider eggs, in Elona you might use Skree eggs, etc. You could possibly even give different sized eggs different properties, like say a small egg map gives different skills than you'd get on a map with a bigger (think Glint egg) sized egg would give you, maybe better dodge skills on the lighter eggs, natural slower movement but increased hp or something while holding the bigger ones (able to take more than 1 hit)

For a second there I thought you were going to rip-off Metroid.
It sounds interesting, but I probably wouldn't play it too much personally.

It would be one of the weekend event things.
Taking Lonk's expanded idea further, it would actually be pretty good if you had a whole range of eggs in one arena, and each gave you different skills. Say, "throw web" if you were holding a spider egg, which would slow the enemies down, or "winged haste" whilst holding a skree egg, making you run faster. And the chance of getting different eggs would be high for fairly useless eggs, but really low for thing's like "glint's egg", which would obviously have an almighty skill attached to it.
