It does need to be dyeable... But fixing the way it fits is doubtful.
ANet's probably already focused fully on GW2. If they did fix this, then I'd be pretty impressed.
I'll /Sign for the fix.
$10 says if they do make it dyeable, all blindfolds before the update will not be affected. That'll make me laugh.

I answered this on a fan forum in relation to blindfolds, but the information applies to glasses, as well: It was intended that masks not accept dyes, or rather, it was necessary that they not accept dyes due to technical limitations. The reason for this is that masks are, essentially, the "helm model." In order to place a helm of any sort on your character's head, we replace the hair with the helm. You may have noticed that when your long-haired PC puts on a hat of some sort -- the hair disappears, right? Well, with the blindfold, if we replace the hair with the "helm," the character will be bald! (There is an exception with the masks of the Mesmer, but we cannot extend that exception to all models, as they were not designed that way to begin with, as the Mesmer was.) The technical limitation is something I imagine we'll address in Guild Wars 2. For Guild Wars, it's not something that we can change. I hope this is helpful information

for the dye excuse, it is very vague and i have no idea why they can't add a dying solution or choose a better default color for the blindfold [such as the universal black]. and i think they have a bad excuse for not fixing the fit. they can make the blindfold detect what hair your character has and then use a fitting version of the blindfold for that hairstyle. i guess it just depends on how much effort anet cares to put into making their customers satisfied with their products.

If they can with mesme masks, at least mesmer blindfolds should be dyable.
And what about necromancer and monk tatoos?
Are they just like elementalist and paragon headpieces?

another alternative to the undyable option is to have the blindfold come in a spectrum of differnt colors to match each hair color in the game...

You people make me sick with all your fanboi-ism.

That there is lazy i-dont-give-a-damn attitude 100%.
Why even have it if it's going to suck? Why take the time to code something into the game as an expensive time consuming bauble if it's not going to be perfect? Oh that's right, to keep people occupied and to spread money around from the rich to the slightly less rich, until GW2 comes out which is promised to be not as crappily thought out as the "bridge" expansion.
Cut the crap Gaile, just tell us that you don't give a shit.

Gaile has spoken. May her almighty word be a guiding light for those that wish to push this issue further.
In other words, locked, because they can't (or won't) do anything about it.
