Monument of Resilience
I have a few characters with Elite armor sets. However, some of my favorite sets of armor are mixed sets, and not all of those mixed sets are made of 100% elite versions. For instance, my Assassin has Obsidian, but the mask is Canthan, as I prefer that look. However, since it is not an elite armor piece, the statue made for the monument uses the Obsidian Mask anyway.
I would like to see the ability to use mixed armor sets, and although I understand to some degree the requirement of elite armor, allow masks to be of any form. For example, the holiday masks or the new collector masks like the Mask of Mo Zing or Glacial Gloves. My Mesmer has 2 pieces of elite armor, but from different sets, and the gloves and boots are not elite. But I think it looks better than a full set of elite armor. I would like to use that mixed armor set in the monument, but can't. I'd be willing to buy elite versions of the gloves and boots to have it displayed, but it still won't, as the chest and legs are different kinds.
Allow certain collector armor to be used.
Allow any mask to be used.
Allow mixed armor sets to be used as long as all pieces are elite.

I like the idea of having this monument display collectors armor that you've attained. In a way, it's kind of like the elite armors since you had to farm the collector items and then locate the collector that had the armor piece you wanted so it took possibly as much time to get a full collector set as it did to get an entire elite set for 15k a piece.
I can't necessarily agree with having any mask because the monument is supposed to be there to show your achievements in the game. It's too easy to get the non-elite masks since they're sold cheap, so it's not that big of a deal. I do agree that the look of some of the masks is better, though. I use a regular Hunter's mask on my ranger with 15k drakescale armor and I think it looks great as is.

My favourite set isn't even Elite; it's the Tyrian Chainmail.
It's the armour I've worn the most since Factions came out, and people from Guru have actually recognised my character in game thanks to my armour.
When I'm using a hammer (which is most of the time), I add a pair of Knight's gauntlets with a Stonefist insignia, as originally, they were the only Stonefist gauntlets you could get, and they looked kick-arse.
It's the set that most accurately represents my character.
And yet I can't add it to the Hall of Monuments.
Gah.
Another great idea that yet again has been poorly executed.
I know my point isn't quite the same as yours, but I fully support your suggestion.

Yup I way prefer my Ancient/Elite Kurzick mix to my 15k glads but only my glads is in my HoM, and it's wearing that stupid helmet that I don't even own...

I'm surprised that Glacial Gloves and the other new items (spectacles etc) don't show.

I totally /sign this.
I bought the dwarven guise for my assassin (spike guise). Since all the dwarven armor pieces have different names, the HoM does NOT COUNT THEM AS A FULL SET< EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALL OF THEM (accodring to a friend, that could be wrong, please correct me if this is).If this is true:...
Wtf?
MY fav combo in armor was elite kurz vest with elite canthan gloves, and elite lux boots and pants. And the bandana? thats just p.i.m.p.
Seriously, the weapon and armor monuments made the HoM the biggest letdown in the game IMO.

I'd also like for the option to show armour combos. There are just some that look better mixed and matched. Another option would be to show/hide headgear. Personally, I'm not all that fond of some types of helmets (most warrior helmets for instance) and I'd like for my warrior in his plate to show his face.

I'd like to have the option to remove an armour from the HoM. That way I could re-submit it.
I put my Drakescale up and had a normal (non-elite) mask on, so it shows with no mask. I have several elite masks that I could have displayed with it, had I known, but now instead I have 2 armours with mask, one without. I like masks on my ranger.
Is woad considered an elite headgear? I'm planning on a set of Norn armour with woad mask, but don't want to end up maskless again.

Just temporally get almost full armor set without mask. It is understandable that it cheapens GW 2 rewards via HoM if you are able to put whatever armor combinations you want.

What most people seem to be ignoring is that the GW 2 material will not be the same as GW 1. The things you put in HoM are not inheritable property they are Points for benefitting characters in the next engine. It is irrelevant that any armor at all appears. The attainment of mixed sets, which I personally prefer seeing on many people, has nothing to do with the credit one is seeking to transfer. People are looking at the HoM as a cache from which to send special prefered appearences and stats to the next game. It is not. I personally like the Istani Ranger Leopardskin armor, and really don't care much for the others. The non-elite max Ranger Studded is cute, but I dont really care for the elite version. However, it is the only one I would consider buying in order for my ranger to have something in the HoM (since there is no Istani Elite Leopardskin). So, I agree the personal tastes do not fit what is reflected in the HoM, but they also don't mean anything or equate at all to anything relevant to the mere points we will be getting for GW2 characters.
What is more distressing is the person who only bothers to play one character, and purchases 10 sets of elite armor, is more important than and will have more reward than, the person who seeks to play the entire range the game presents.

I liked Istani until I bought it and realised that it was misaligned, making the player look like a cheap GI Joe knock-off.
We know it's not about taste - nobody is asking for a reward in GW2, simply for the ability to display what they actually use. Sure, charming a bear isn't notable (though frankly, none of the pets are) but it's the pet that I chose and suits me fine.
Being distressed becuase others accomplish much on one character while you spread your time around is pointless. I thought you liked "role-playing" - well, you have multiple characters, all of whom have some level of accomplishment.
Why would your (for example) warrior character get extra recognition because some other character of yours also got protector of Tyria? Role play. You should be happy with their individual accomplishments, otherwise get out there and accomplish more. And if you don't have time for 10 characters, don't run 10. It's your choice how much time you put into them, you can't blame anyone else for it.

99% of my other characters sets have have full sets so I can easily display in the HoM except my Mesmer, since other professions have actual gloves for example that comes to their elbows or or pants that show unlike most of the Mesmer hoses
She has lots of armors but since gloves and hose don't show on most of the Mesmer armors, so like many other Mesmers out there I just buy the top and boots.
Mesmer fow gloves look the same as the 1.5k enchanter but I guess to display my fow armor I have to go buy the gloves now.
I understand the logic behind it and also the amount of programming they have to do enable mixed armor set to show but 15 ectos for a glove is a bit steep even with the low price of ectos these days.

I think its fine personally.... how many people have you actually shown your HoM?.... No one really cares... and they cant reward everyone who has 1.5k armor from getting a droks run. It makes sense how it is.

The monument to resilience is rarely actually shown to anyone (though it does look pretty neat). The only real point to it is that you will get the armors in GW2. And these armors will NOT look the same, probably not even if you're playing a human, and DEFINITELY not if you're, say, an Asura, or suchlike. Therefore, mixed armor sets are pointless. And, if you have the full set of each, why not just mix them when you get into GW2.
As for the people who said "the armor I liked best was [such and such non-elite armor]", Anet don't want you to be able to take everything through to GW2, there's got to be a little bit of a challenge. And who knows which armor you'll like best in it's new GW2 splendor? For example, I will likely get a set of asuran armor, even though I don't really like the stuff on a ranger, because it might look neat in GW2.

But it keep it all 5 parts elite.
I don't use the head gears that belong to my elite sets.
Since I find them not looking good, so I use headgear from other elite sets.

I bought a few pieces to complet the elite sets for for my Elementalist and Monk just to display, but when it comes to my warrior... (which happens to be female...), then all I have to say is:
I - do - not - want - the - elite - miniskirt.

I've been saving up ectos and am dying to get the chaos gloves. But since they aren't transferrable, I am wondering if I should get a set of obsidian armor just so it will transfer. Any thoughts? Being the most expensive single piece of armor in the game, you'd think that it alone would count as an achievement. ANet seriously needs to redesign this stuff instead of pulling a Microsoft on us. I understand the decisions are tough on their part in order to make things fair for people, but most of the hardcore GW players I know spread their accomplishments over all their characters. As said by someone above, the system that has been implemented now rewards people more heavily who have a single character and do everything with it. It just boggles my mind how they have so many developers and programmers and they can't get things like this right the first time.

I would put in a "Favorite" armor stand.
This would allow you to put on whatever your wearing (and not neccesary count towards an "unlock" in gw2)

/signed i think thats we should be able to display w/e we want but only elite sets count for GW2 that way we get to see what we like but it dosent ruin the orginal idea.

Storage for these armors you don't want is my biggest complaint. I frankly don't care for any of the elite armors available to some of my characters. But I have to lug one around in my back pack just for HoM. Great!
