Remove Iron Mist from Gadd's skillbar
Iron Mist
Hex Spell. For 5...15...17 seconds, target foe moves 90% slower. That foe gains immunity to damage from all sources except lightning.
The ally NPC Gadd currently has this skill on his bar.
So here we have an 'ally' NPC with a skill that makes enemies immune to most builds that people bring. If a human player did that we would call him a griefer, and unless you check up on the build beforehand you get no warning about it until he starts casting it. Probably not even then since you would have to of selected him while he is casting it.

Ahhh, was wondering why I was doing zero damage to monsters in that mission. Never though of it being Gadd, just assumed some sort of monster-skill/environmental buff for them.

following the storyline of the game, gadd is a jackass. so why wouldn't he bring iron mist just to piss you off?

Yes! Please remove it, or nerf it! Especially since there aren't any easy workaround, like setting up a spirit and turn some of our damage to lightning. A jackass indeed! /fistshake
[edit] I actually have no problem whatsoever H/H-ing this mission without switching any skills in NM on my Ele, Necro and Warrior. Haven't had time to touch GW:EN HM. But like what some people said below, I think the joke should at least be made more obvious to the players. [/edit]
Speaking of which, I've met one such griefer in Fort Aspenwood. We had an Ele equipped with nothing but Glyph of Renewal + Iron Mist on our side. What some people would do just to piss others off...

At least there should be any NPC dialogue warning you about that.
Like:
- Vekk: "Why the hell are you using Iron Mist! My water attacks do nothing!"
- Gadd: "Shut the hole up and use Air magic, I'm not changing my build!"

Moddock crevice?
Divinity coast?
Or bringing a MM into mission where there are no corpses?
You never get a warning for any mission about what you'll need to do. At least here you don't fail anything because you didn't know to bring.
GW:EN is specifically designed to be unfriendly to raw damage dealers. Personally I can't relate to this "problem", since I didn't even know about this till now. The only thing even I do remember from Asuran lands is that annoying monster skill that causes deep wound, but even that one isn't that big a deal.

Yes, that's the whole point.

Yes, and they'd /report them, just people like to report 55s.... And SF sins. And they even know what to bring to counter them, along with the fact that such builds are common. Yet the nonsense continues...
Good heavens, there's a disturbance in the force, there's an unusual skill in PvE, run for the hills... C'mon, it's not like your party wipes because of it. If it does, then that's a strong indication to improve on your party.
This is why PUGs died. One-trick pony cookie cutter builds. No utility, no diversity, no flexibility. Adjust the mobs one tiny bit, and the party fails miserably.
GW:EN was sold as high-end content. Isn't it reasonable to expect at least a bit of difference, at least once promoting a bit of diversity, something different, something new...

Was he Luxon? If so, then it's a great tactics - snare the runners.
Was he Kurzick? Again, great tactic, to keep people from chasing down the runners.
Remember: in FA, killing is not what determines the winner. This is why bonders worked so great, until people started bringing enchant removal.
It all depends on the perspective.

Luxons, but... 6 empty slots (the person sent their build to chat and said it's fun)?! And Iron Mist out of all other snaring skills?

Meh, I H/H most missions. Can't ask Cynn and Herta to switch to Air magic builds or Devona to take a lightning hammer. Also not sure if one hero running an air build can make HM.
Okay, fiiiiine I'll... PUG! *shudders*

I didnt even know it was there still beat the mission and was none the wiser. It doesnt make that big of a deal. and how many times has someone went on a mission not knowing what to build. I seldom look something up before a mission. I might if I fail a few times but I prefer to work off of my own skills than someone elses. So try it, change your build if needed and whip some candy ass. If that doesnt work stapple gadds ears to the wall and leave him.

So having to bring lightning damage for everyone isn't a one-trick setup ?

I kept flagging my heroes back and running gad into things just so he'd die. Worked well to stop him from casting iron mist on anything, but anet really should look at this.

A good thing with GWEN is how npcs self res. So you can just kill them, or use them as cannon fodder. Especially Gadd.
/signed for removing iron mist or at least having the argument between Gadd and Vekk like MithranArkanere. It's just too funny.

Omg people....air spikers and channeling rits. Period.
It doesn't cast on every enemy around so if you start doing zeroes, move on to a different enemy and let your spikers take out those with mist on them.

Technically... SF is still effective because of the burning .
Anyway, what's been said above: switch targets. If you don't have a target to switch to, well, taking 20-40 seconds longer isn't going to hurt you. If you've got the resources, outfit yourself and heroes with lightning damage weapons.
Pretty simple.
