Special Weapons for gw (2 most likely)
I’m not saying these should be implemented into the current guild wars, but since guild wars 2 is going to pretty much change half of the current guild wars, wouldn’t it be nice to make some aspects of the game more challenging or exciting? Here are a few different ideas of how to make parts of the game interesting:
Special PVP Environment server:
1. certain towns are known as “Safe Outposts”
2. certain towns are known as “PVP outposts”
3. all areas are open to PVP but you cannot meet someone from role-playing or regular pvp in these areas
4. All pvp players on this server start at level 1 and cannot attack any player 3 levels higher or lower.
5. No bosses, limited set creatures, randomized encounters (encounters are still in explorable areas, but they appear in random numbers of creatures and random locations, or popup whenever a character goes to the area, not infinitely)
Here are the set rules for this:
No players can attack one another in Safe Outposts
PVP Outposts are literally in game arenas without randomized teams (all out braw!!!!!); if you die here you are resurrected at the nearest safe outpost.
Explorable areas are still on your own computer but you have a 50% chance that another player will enter your area and have the ability to attack you.
Teams are made up in Safe Outposts and still apply in PVP Outposts
No Npcs in PVP Outposts besides a few foes to rile up players by killing
(No I don’t really expect this to actually get in sadly, I just wanted to put the idea out there so you guys can see what you think of it
Special Weapons:
1. These weapons are indistinguishable from normal weapons at first glance but contain hidden abilities
2. Each special effect has its own requirement (number of hits before activation, number of blows taken, number of spells cast, etc.)
3. When you manage to activate the weapon’s ability by activating its special ability, that weapon is branded with that abilities name, even through trade. (new item for sale)
4. the damage or effects of these weapons are judged by your attribute (ex. If the weapon is a sword, then your swordsmanship will judge the effect)
5. all conditions must apply in succession (10 spells in succession, not 5 spells 1 attack then 5 more spells)
Here are some sample abilities-
Dragonflame, foe takes 5-40 fire damage (8 hits to activation)
Quickspell, your next spell casts 10-30% faster (6 spells to activate)
Maxispell, your next spell activates at 110-150% capacity (10 spells to activate)
Artbreaker, the next spell cast against you casts 20-40% slower (taken 5 spells to activate)
Also there are curses; these apply by the same rules as abilities
Here are some sample curses:
Weakening, your next attack drains you of 5 energy (10 hits to activation)
Spellfail, your next spell fails and you suffer 50…4 damage (20 spells to activation)
Ice, next time you take damage, you move 95% slower for 3…2 seconds (5 blows to activate)
Pseudo death, next time you attack, you are knocked down, inflicted with poison for 5…2 seconds, and set on fire for 3…1 second(s) (15 hits to activation)
Certain weapons cannot have a special ability or curse. Unique weapons all have no chance of a curse or ability (or any weapon that gives you a bonus to energy a.k.a staves or focuses and some shields and melee weapons)
Encounters:
1. When you enter an explorable area there is only a few set creatures (maybe 15-20)
2. There are some (max 40-60) hidden creatures that are only activated when you get close to them
Encounter creatures are just as powerful as regular creatures but it also brings up the element of surprise in the game (you never really know what’s coming) but each creature is still limited to it’s own element (a fire creature cannot appear out of the water.).
Note that all of these will have to be tweaked for use in gw, and a percentage will need tweaking to be put in gw2.
(hopefully the spaces in between can show you that there are 3 seperate ideas here not 1 big idea, and if you don't like the pvp server masse, don't comment about it, I never really expected many people to care for it [I just like meaningless violence xD])
